We stayed here for a week B&B in Oct 2012, as a cheap package holiday for some late summer sun. Having read the reviews before we arrived - we would agree that the hotel is in need of refurbishment and we felt it was not really a hotel we wanted to spend much time relaxing in. All that said for the money and rating it offers an ideal location within the centre of Mellehia, quiet with amazing views across the bay with the islands of Comino and Gozo in the distance.

The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels provided. I wouldn't fancy staying here in the heat of summer as the hotel was stuffy and the air con unit in the room looked like it would make a lot of noise, a wall mounted fan provided localised cooling and air movement. The balconies are very small and don't offer much privacy but that seems to be the style in Malta.

We found breakfast to be fine - and alternated with a freshly baked roll filled with a boiled egg on one day and a sausage the next and a second roll with jam and butter. (There were also beans, bacon and scrambled egg and toast.) The fruit juice is not fresh which was a shame, and the fresh fruit was melon every day. A coffee tip - press the espresso twice to fill a cup and it is not too bad (I've had worse in hotels in the UK).

All in all I would say that the hotel is a good base for exploring Malta and Gozo and we felt its location in the town was much better than being isolated in the bay.

I should say that we are in our 30's and there were a lot of older patrons that appeared to be having a good time in the evening entertainment.

We stayed in this hotel and found it to be very clean with superb views from terrace and balcony. Some of furniture and fittings in the bedroom were are a bit "tired". with an air con system that made a lot of noise and was mostly ineffective. The breakfast would be rather restricted in choice if you spent more than a week. I would rate it as only a 2* to 3* though In fairness the staff are helpfull and pleasant.

We are well travelled and have stayed in Malta four times before. However, this was not only the worse hotel we have stayed in on Malta, it was the worse so-called three star hotel we have ever had the misfortune to book anywhere. We had booked 10 days half board.
The weather was hot when we arrived. The room did have an air conditioning unit, but it didn't work. Clearly others had tried to use it before as the tempertaure dial was already turned right down, but the air which feebly circulated was still hotter than the room (we had a thermometer with us!). Fortunately the room fan worked. Every room seemed to have a plug-in fan, suggesting a lot of the air conditioning never works.
Our first dinner was so bad we couldn't eat some of it. The fish and chicken had been boiled to a mushy paste and tasted awful. This was served with wet 'smash' type potato and frozen cooked veg. Nothing for vegetarians. Breakfast was ok but quite limited.
Our room (407) was clean but the beds were made from chipboard frames with poor quality matresses. The bathroom had not yet been refurbished, so many wall and floor tiles were broken and hooks etc were broken too. The shower screen was difficult to close and the shower head was held in place with string. There was no air extraction from the internal room.
We raised all these points with our Mercury Direct rep at the first opportunity and she and the hotel Manager claimed no one else had complained. Not true as we found talking to other guests. We were offered another room. It had a nicer bathroom, but less furniture and as the air conditioning didn't work in this room either we decided not to bother moving all our stuff.
We agreed to try evening dinners for a few more days- some days were better but there was very little fresh veg or fruit all week- tomatoes, lettuce and melon every day, otherwise frozen veg. No vegetarian choices at all. We ended up eating out sometimes.
A couple of safety warnings- the corners of all the glass topped tables in the dining room are chipped and sharp- at eye level for little ones. Also, on the outside area by the pool there is a raised area hard to see at night- a guest fell over it one night and broke her arm while we were there.
A few plus points- yes, the view is great. It's a nice quiet spot and the staff work hard and are friendly.
But be warned- if you intend to stay for more than a week you need to supplement your diet with your own fresh food or you will begin to suffer. Be prepared for the air conditioning not to work, and don't expect any sympathy or help from the Mercury Direct rep (unless you want to book her trips). We were very disappointed with this hotel and our top tip would be to stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Higher floors quieter- ask for a refurbished bathroom

We stayed at this hotel bed breakfast and evening meal for two weeks in October, our room number was 211. The room was clean, linen and bedding was changed daily and the room was also cleaned very well daily. The room had a balcony overlooking the lovely view of mellieha bay the room was fitted with a fan and air conditioning.
The meals were all self service this was the only area I found a little in need of attention, although there was plenty of food to eat the selection for breakfast was in my case falling short. Each day you could either have hard boiled eggs with bacon and beans or the following day scrambled eggs with bacon and beans this became very boring after a week and after two weeks I felt like pulling my hair out! The rolls were very nice and I lived mainly on these with the jam or marmalade.
The tea/coffee machine always left an after taste "tinny" lots of cereals available.
The waitresses were very hard working, Bev and the blonde waitress Yolaney were very helpful and they made the eating experience a happy one.
The hotel front office staff once again were very friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble for them.
The evening entertainment was much to be desired in most cases.
All in in a good trip and we would be happy to return here but perhaps for one week and bring more of our own tea bags in future.
If you have mobility issues it has to be pointed out that the hill by the side of the hotel which you have to negotiate to get the the local town or buses is very steep, the first day I walked it I was calling out for oxygen by the end of the two weeks I was getting fitter by the day and it has spurred me on to exercise more now I am home again.

Room Tip: Any room from 11 to 27 on any floor will give you a wonderful bay view

i have stayed in this Hotel twice and for a 3 star hotel , found it to be outstanding . The rooms are cleaned almost every day. If anything is wrong the staff attending to it right away. As for the value, well you cant beat it. the views are the best in the hole of Malta.

Room Tip: dont ask for a corner room.

As a 3 star hotel is very good. Some rooms need a bit of improvement but they are working on that. It's located in a very quiet place on the top of the hill near the church. Nice to get up in the morning and to look over the balcony into panoramic view at bay. It has air conditioners. In autumn the pool is not really in use because sun during day gets behind building and pool area is all day in the shadow but in summer time its fine. We had an opportunity to go to the beach which takes only few minutes by local bus. The only thing we could complain was breakfast..not much to choose from. We did enjoyed our stay in Panorama

My husband myself and our two friends arrived at around midnight on 22nd September 2012 at the Panorama for our weeks holiday, on a B & B basis. We have taken many holidays, and we have never had reason to complain in the past, but we feel we must point out a few faults with this hotel. Firstly, the breakfast !! What can I say, Our holidays in the past some have been 3 star some 4, It was by far the worst breakfast we have ever had. Very little choice, and everything was congested in to one corner. The tables needed wiping down more often, but staff were at a minimum. We had a lovely room (403) kept very clean, by a very hard working lady. We had lovely clean soft towels daily, our view was fabulous. The downside to our room was, we had no shower, it looked like there had been one previously, so the only option was a bath every night. In our opinion, with a little extra work, this Hotel could be great, It is in a fantastic location, with stunning views over Mellieha and Gozo. Good restaurants for eating out. The Half Way Inn and The hilltop, both serving excellent food.

Room Tip: room 403, views are stunning
