We have just returned from holiday staying at the Hollywood Mirage, on our arrival we were greeted with a cool drink, went more or less straight to our apt which was lovely, clean and very well equipped. It was our first stay in Los Cristianos and we thoroughly enjoyed it.We spent some of our days round the pool, again the whole area seemed well maintained. We used the courtesy bus a lot while we were there, it took us down to Las Americas,we could then walk the coast rd. right back round to Los Cristianos if we wished, though the two other beaches we passed were very nice.Sarah and Michelle who accompanied us on the bus were very helpful with info on market days, local buses and restaurants etc. We were shown round all the facilities by Leanne who explained in depth the different methods of buying into the points system, she looked after us well and there was no pressure to buy. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful.Could do with a little late night bar with some soft music for a night cap but all in all had a lovely time.

Room Tip: Our apt was on the bottom floor there was some noise from the A/C unit though not enough to bother us.To get a sea veiw I think you would have to be quite high up as a lot of the apts. seem fairly enclosed.

We are a group of 4 friends who stayed here as part of an RCI exchange, last week in Jan 2013. We were allocated a lovely 2-bedroomed unit in the Grace Kelly block, which overlooks quiet pool (2).

Overall, the rooms were clean, spacious, but we have to entirely agree with other reviews regarding the rock-hard beds and the lack of working jacuzzi baths of which there were 2 in our apartment. One room is ensuite.

Microwave didn't work along with a bedside lamp but these were replaced within the hour after contacting reception. The rooms were well enough equipped with everything (except laundry facilities) you might need including iron and board, fridge freezer, full hob and oven and all utensils. Plenty storage space for food-stuffs. The apartment has a small LCD tv (26" I think) with a decent selection of channels. There is a 2-piece fabric suite and a table with 4 chairs in the sitting area. A breakfast bar completes the kitchen with 3 stools. Lovely big balcony with table and 4 chairs (plastic) and 2 sun loungers.

Will agree with other reviews regarding the bird droppings on the balcony wall.

Our apartment was cleaned thoroughly at least every second day. Towels supplied were ok but did tend to smell strongly of bleach.

The main pool area was busy with a wide mix of nationalities, some more mannerable than others but that goes for everywhere. Sunbeds were very close together. We did not have any issue with bedsfinding beds as your trip to the pool was before 11am, no probs for us.

The "quiet pool" is smaller but again, no problems with beds. Both these areas are clean and tidy.

You can obtain a single blue resort towel from the Health club underneath reception. This will be free of charge and you are only issued this single towel for the duration of your stay. If you want a fresh towel every day, the cost is 5 Euro. For a cost of 15 Euro per week, one can "join" the health club where as well as daily towels, the facilities at Hollywood Mirage and the neighbouring Beverley Hills Club are included. There are a couple of indoor squash courts and fitness centre as examples.

The bar and restaurant area were not great. The pool bar seating area was a decent size but the food left a lot to be desired. The drinks were expensive apart from the mythical Happy hour.
For the sake of walking a few minutes down the hill, you can expect to find a good selection of bars and eating places at good prices.

The food at the poolside was bland, unappealing and overpriced. The staff never seemed happy to be there or to be providing a service for customers. With this in mind, We would recommend not taking advantage of the "offer" to pre purchase breakfast or lunch from "Little Italy". This would appear to be the company that run the bars and restaurants within the Mirage. We never saw the main restaurant open during our stay. Most folks preferred to venture out for better food which was also less expensive.

Outside the hotel complex, expect to pay about 5 Euro for a branded spirit and mixer. A local beer Dorado or similar will be about 1-1.50 per pint. A bottle of Carlsberg will amount to 3 Euro.
As far as food is concerned, a typical 2 course meal for 2 with drinks will be about 50 Euro.

The complex looks quality but there are issues all over the place when you really look.
No doubting it was once a top-drawer destination/hotel but it has lost that now.

Silverpoint- Quite annoying set of people who claim not to be involved in Timeshare. They merely allow people to pre-purchase holiday weeks.....Where's the difference ?

They claim to have the biggest customer centre on site in the Mirage. Very impressive it is (not), with about half a million quids worth of I-mac products and cheap Italian suits. Pity they couldn't offer guests free wifi instead of 6 euro per day. Hardly a good advert for great customer service. Wifi is only for One device at a time. Rubbish. Plenty places round about with free wifi,

You will receive the obligatory knock at the door at a lousy time of day to be offered the chance to attend the call centre, personally, I would rather remain in the bath (without the jacuzzi part working). Just accept the bottle of cheap wine brought to the door, say no thanks to the offer of future weeks or buy-outs and close the door.

The supermarket on site is quite small and fairly expensive compared to the one about 200 yards down the hill. Unless buying a newspaper, I would use the one just down from the main entrance gate. Great selection of Deli foods, fresh veg, bakery, beers, wines spirits all keenly priced.

Bella Roma Italian restaurant is located practically outside the hotel. Food is great, variety great, staff great.

There is an on site spa with full range of facilities, massage, hair and beauty etc but we are all beautiful enough already.

This area of Los Cristianos is very hilly, some testing "Rocky Balboa" steps to encounter on the way home in the wee small hours. Not for people with walking difficulties, however, taxis are always available outside the hotel, at the beach and at other points on the ascent. It will cost about 4 euros for a taxi from the beach to the complex.

Car hire will set you back about 130-150 euro for the week. Unless you are planning on sightseeing the entire island, taxi's are the way to go. A cab from the airport will cost no more than 25 euro one way, day or night.
Don't think we will bother returning until the issues with Silverpoint and the running of the hotel's bars and restaurants have been properly sorted out.

Just on this final point, as we were waiting to depart in one of the public seated areas outside reception, we were privy to the coffee machines, fixtures and fittings etc being stripped out the bar and restaurant at the top pool and reception area. Maybe a sign that there are better things to come. This had the adverse effect of the remaining guests having no on-site food or drinks. Not best by a long shot.
We asked if there were any alternatives being put on and were duly advised that "There's a restaurant down the hill". .....Gracias,,,,,

Room Tip: Reception is on level 4, as is the main pool. This might be the best choice for people not looking to combat stairs and small lifts.

Thank you for your very comprehensive feedback and we regret to hear that your stay at Hollywood Mirage Club was not to your total satisfaction.
The on-site restaurant and pool bar is managed by an independent organisation and is now under new management. The feedback received to date regarding the new menu and staff has been very positive.
With regards to your observation regarding the Jacuzzi in the apartment, these have had to be removed due to Health & Safety regulations as stated in previous reviews.
With regards to your comment regarding laundry facilities, there are laundry rooms located throughout the resort which are clearly marked on the maps in the resort and on check-in.
As you have correctly stated, there are taxis available close by but there is also a courtesy bus shuttle service to Playa de las Americas for all our guests which stops just outside the resort.
I will pass on your comments to Silverpoint regarding your issues with their customer centre and service.

We stayed there the last full week of January 2013.

First impression is that the resort is nice and I was happy to see that we were staying on a top floor so we had a view. We were staying in a 1 bedroom. Upon entry I noticed that we have a lovely view and that the bedroom was up one level. I quickly headed upstairs to see what the better view would be from there but was GRAVELY disappointed. The bedrooms in the 1 bedroom do NOT have a window with a view. They have this very WIERD design with a courtyard of sorts in the middle of the apartment and your bedroom opens up to that. Well the courtyard basically goes straight up on all sides for about 10 feet and all you have is a view of the sky. I actually found the bedroom rather claustrophobic. Oh and don't forget the bed was ROCK HARD.

I had read some reviews about the decline in the resort as of recently and was wondering what that was all about. Essentially there are cracked tiles throughout and replaced ones that don't match the originals. Also, the jetted tubs are disabled and the sink in our master bedroom was crooked. One of the promotional pictures show under sink lighting but that did not exist in our unit. Generally these types of issues should not happen which implies shoddy craftsmanship.
Also, there is this path thru the restaurant where everyone walks that the hardwood has totally deteriorated. I can't believe they actually let it get that bad, does anyone from management notice these things?????

The pool was only heated to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, which by American standards is cold.
We traded from Worldmark where we are used to 85 degree pools or warmer. Have stayed at some Worldmarks where the weather was bad so they had the outdoor pool heated to 90 degrees. :) Supposedly the pool can only be heated to 75 for local health regulations but I don't buy it. Also, the pool closes at sunset or 8 PM, whichever is earlier. Who ever heard of that? Wherever I have stayed it's been open to at least 10 PM.

Other downside is that you have to pay for EVERYTHING. Including pool towels, access to the hot tub, access to the exercise room, access to about anything.

We did get the obligatory sales call but once the salesman realized that we were Americans and we were young (I'm 36) and that our home resort was Worldmark and that I complained about the hard bed.... he knew he wasn't going to sell us anything. BTW, the average silverpoint guest seems to be at least 60 years old.

Lastly, it was amusing to see the silver hairs (old people) out there every morning jockeying for lounge chair space by the pools. Do they ever leave the hotel?

Pros:
Good views from the 5th floor
Looks nice (just don't look at the poor cracked tiles)
$1 beers from 7 to 8 PM when getting internet at the El Paso (silverpoint owned bar) down the road.
Good location. Los Cristeanos is a good home base.
Don Quixote down the street across from El Paso is AWESOME.

Cons:
Bad views from anything other than the 5th floor
Rock hard bed
NO VIEW FROM THE SECOND FLOOR 1 BEDROOM UNITS (crazy stupid design - who thought of that?!?!?!?!)
Not good if you have an issue with stairs
Timeshare salesmen always smoked 10' from the sign that says please don't smoke here.
Pay for EVERYTHING including pool towels. 2euro a day for the safe.
Oh and housekeeping ate my wife's Nutella.

Room Tip: The second # in the room number is your floor number. Example 4518 would be on floor 5 and 5418 would be on the 4th floor. 5 is the top on most buildings and if you aren't on that level, you probably won't have a view.

Exchanged to this resort about 18 months but this time came on a promotion.
Stayed in a studio which was ample, modern and clean.
Supermarket on site was really quite overpriced but handy
Silver points reps were unrelentless but fortunately my partner probably knew more than they did about the products having had timeshare for 17years. Top and bottom we didn't buy as the product was far too expensive.
Had a problem with the shower which leaked into the bedroom and wet the bedding but all this was dealt with within the hour plus clean sheets!!!
Breakfast was inclusive and we had this at the Beverly club..waited a while for it as only one grumpy waiter was serving and to be honest it was no great shakes...Manhattens further down the hill hit the spot however.
Balti Balti local Indian was bob on and so was the Coy restaurant opposite Paradise Park..really quirky silver service and lovely food.
Overall our stay was great and your holiday is what you make of it really.
Oh yes one further thing. Wifi was extremely expensive 6 euro a day or 26 for the week...really not on...local restaurants have free Wifi and are happy to give the code to log on and check emails etc..

Dont waste your time or money eating here as the staff are not interested and can be very rude and the food is nothing to write home about..Hotel is fine and have no complaints about nothing other than the restuarant. A short walk away is Olivers with a Twist you have to book but a two course meal at 14 euros is first class food well worth the money.
