If you enjoy good food at a high standard and a chilled environment with a sunset view to boot then please come and give this place a try. Service is attentive and informative. The menu is varied and different to your expectations and the environment will leave you relaxed and at ease with the world. To be honest these guys are not a million miles away from Michelin star
quality. If you enjoy a gin and tonic I can promise you the way they prepare them here will blow your mind. This restaurant is the best kept secret on the island.

We stumbled across this restaurant by accident. The starter of 7 types of mushroom in truffle oil was outstanding. The pork and the hake cooked over a wood stove were very good with excellent vegetables with the fish. Some high class touches such as octopus amuse bouche and great coffee. The decor was modern and welcoming. Service was excellent. Expensive for Tenerife but the quality was worth it.

Restaurante Café Mencey is ambitious in Palm-Mar, serving original dishes - somtimes daring combinations with high quality products.

The decoration is very nice, linking the traditional history of Tenerife to a modern design with very stylish plates and cuttlery (top quality Laguiole knives, yay!)

We were welcomed by one of the owners, in a very relaxed yet professional way. A nice start!

The staff seemed to comprise some people still in training, they were eager and friendly, but lacking the experience of smooth service and (some) spoke little or no other language than Spanish. I speak very little Spanish myself, but even though I tried, I couldn't manage to obtain the drinks menu until the owner came to our rescue.

That said, the fish was excellent, both in presentation and in taste. I had the slow-cooked tuna for starters and although it was great, I regretted not taking the Japanese-style tuna my husband had, as it was even better.

The main course, a local white fish - I tried to remember the name but have forgotten by now... -, was cooked to perfection and presented very nicely. There was some confusion as to whether or not we needed to order side dishes. I wanted the fish of the day with a side of canarian potatoes, but while ordering I was told they were already included with the fish anyway. It turned out to be 3 potatoes, without the typical sauces. A pity, especially since no-one was around to order the side dish after all.

Wines were very nice as well, we live in a wine region ourselves but are unfamiliar with the houses/regions that are known here. Still, we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines.

We didn't order dessert, as we don't have a sweet tooth, but we did order some pousse-cafés, which were served in very generous portions.

All in all, it's a very nice place, there seemed to be some small starters' errors, but we'll certainly be coming back!

The owner of the apartment we rented recommended Cafe Mencey as the best restaurant in town. We went there on Sunday evening - closed (as on Mondays). Tuesday afternoon - open to have coffee but kitchen was closed (opens again at 7 pm). Finally on Wednesday we managed to have lunch there.

It is a two-storey restaurant with beautiful, modern decor. There are some outside tables on the balcony, some of them in the patio with a little fountain. Service is quick and helpful, speaking Spanish, English, Flamish (the owners are Flamish). Menu is pretty short but everybody can find something special. We had fish of the day, prepared on woodfire with mix of grilled vegatables. Very tasty. For a child we ordered a beefburger with mushed potato which was creamy and beautiful however meat was oversalted.

For lunch for three adults and one child, with beverages we paid €70.
