“Nice place - timeshare thugs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2010

The place itself was very nice, very clean. We used to go to Hollywood Mirage pool as our family was staying there and the pool was larger than Heights pool. The location is a bit out and up a steep hill but free buses to and from the beach were great. There was some excellent restaurants nearby as well as in Los Cristianos.
We went on a promotional deal so expected the timeshare presentation, didn't expect the horrible and thuggish behaviour though. If you have to do the same demand that you expect to stay 90 mins for the presentation only as I did, it will get them irate but if you aren't interested tell them and don't be intimidated. Some families were there 5 and 6 hours........

We came here as a timeshare special offer only paying £99 for accommodation for 6 of us. Flights were quite expensive but was offset by the cost of apartment. We were put in BHH on arrival. Had to climb 2 small flights of stairs to our place - very tiring after a night out walking up other numerous steps from BHC across the road. Apartment clean, downside was the sofa bed, it wasn't actually a double sofa bed but you slept on the sofa and the other person slept on a pull out drawer - only suitable for children although I dislike my children sleeping on another floor than myself! Timeshare guy pleasant enough but very pushy - overall took 6 hours and when it was obvious we weren't buying was very very pushy, even going so far to call us "stupid" not to take up this fantastic offer. Overall a reasonable holiday as I hadn't been to Tenerife before but I won't be timesharing again! Worth going if you can get it cheap enough and are determined not to buy.

We went on a subsidised week having paid £149 to take two people with us (My son and his friend) despite the flight being late I managed to locate the area where a rep ticked off our name and put us in a complimentary cab to the resort. I should have known that I had forgotten something (my crampons) when I noticed the gradient of the hills to the resort. If your not fit and able, elderly or have heart or breathing difficulties you may want to hire a 'Madge Mobile' since watching Benidorm 3 earlier this year I kept seeing so many people on these motorised scooters, but seriously the hills are a bit of a climb but the views from our room balcony was well worth it. The resort was clean and well presented, if you do not want to use the welcome pack return it on the Monday or it will be billed to your room at 5.95euros, a safe will cost you 12 euros and you cannot check in until 5 pm on the day of arrival. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was well laid out with good furnishings but we did not get a single nights unbroken sleep due to the beds being very hard and uncomfortable.
The next morning a Resort Representative (Michelle) came to our door to say she would collect us at 10:15 on Monday for our presentation which we were not looking forward to as we had no intentions buting timeshare. The presentation took 7 hours and what we were shown were very nice apartments, well furnished but studios started at £6-8k, Michelle was polite and posative during the whole process, we did not feel preasurised throughout the day but as we got tired we became a little irritated by questions about our finances yet were treated well throughout the whole process.
There is a great family run Sports Bar at the second group of bars as you go down the hill, they have two places called Taylors Lounge run by Paul and his wife, there is sports on all day at one and big screen TV's at the other for Karoke with good live acts at the other, the girls at front of house are realy friendly and will stand chatting with you as Paul and his team move round the tables ensuring you are well looked after. We had breakfast there a number of days with a Great big English breakfast for 4.95 euros, the fish and chips are realy fresh and delicious.
If you go in to Los Christianos on Sunday for the Market do not carry credit cards and beware of pick pockets this has been a big problem that the local police are cracking down on. Beware of some of the Indian Shops along the front selling electrical goods they DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS, I had a problem with one and called the Police who were great but I still could not get my money back, if as we were offered by an Indian shopkeeper to SWAP THE SPANISH CIGARETTES FOR ENGLISH ONES after buying from him he will produce these from under the counter as they will be about 8 - 10 years old and stale or very dry when you do open them - SO DO NOT SHOP IN THESE TYPE OF SHOPS AS BOTH TIMES WE WERE RIPPED OFF IT WAS BY INDIANS WHO DO NOTHING FOR THE INDIAN COMUNITY EXCEPT DAMAGE THEIR STANDING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND MAKE IT HARDER FOR HONEST INDIAN SHOPKEEPERS.
Would I go back to Los Christianos again, probably not! How does it compare with other resorts I have visited in the Canaries it would only rate average but the Beverley Hills Heights is fine.

Just come back from a really pleasant stay at the heights.
Apartment was really nice - good facilities and extremely clean. Great view over the pool.
This resort (one out of the 3) is quieter and more suitable for younger families. If you wanted some entertainment is was a short walk away at the beverley hills and there were several bars within walking distance of the hotel - so plenty of choice.
The area is extremely hilly and not suitable for those with any walking difficulties. There are also many steps to the apartments.
All the staff were helpful particularly the lifeguard Victor who was particularly good with the children. The pool is all one depth of 1.4m so if they are not confident swimmers arm bands are a necessity.
We were here on an exchange visit with RCI and the only real disappointment was the hassle we got from so called 'customer sevice', in other words timeshare sellers. We arrived after a long flight at 2.30am only to be woken at 9.30 by the reps. We refused to go to any meetings and after a few tries they gave up. Some poor families had got caught out for 4 hours, so be aware. It is not a requirement that you have to attend so stand firm.
The area is certainly in the quieter part of time but we did not mind that at all. The bus service is a real help.
The only trip we had was to the new water park Siam. This was absolutely fantastic. A great day out for the family. You need to take plenty of suncream as you could easily end up very sunburnt.
All in all a great holiday.

Had our FREE week here. Spent all day with our talk and have signed up to time share. I am still extremely sceptical and I found all that particularly stressful. The holiday was slightly marred because of this!

The cleanliness of the resort was excellent and our room was brilliant with a fantastic view over the pool. The pool bar was very good with excellent service. All staff are very friendly and helpful.

The Belvedere restaurant was not only convenient being over the road but provided excellent service and mouthwatering food - I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We went on a boat trip and saw dolphins - another excellent morning.

The entertainment is ok with a couple of 'dodgy' artists but after a few beers who cares!

Well first and foremost I felt compelled to write this review having read all the others before we left (not the most recent ones written in Sept) and were actually beginning to dread the holiday and being harrassed by horrible, rude salesmen who were going to put a 'downer' on our whole trip - the truth is we had none of that (although I did see swarms of salesmen walking around giving upbeat salespitches whilst couples trudged along behind!!) I can only guess that these people were all there on these 'free holidays if you go for a talk' - which I must say I think you should have to have the talk if that is the basis for a free holiday! We on the otherhand were with RCI on a like for like gold crown transfer and therefore I assume did not have to go through the trauma of listening to these guys!

The hotel was very nice and clean - we were in 601 which was a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. The balcony was very large and the kitchen was well stocked. The pool as everyone has said was very nice, clean and warm, and the now infamous amoungst these reviewers - Viktor - really is lovely. He is very attentive bringing umbrella's when it is hot and moving sun loungers to better places etc but he is also absolutely brilliant with the children - my 2 boys loved him - it was a job to get them back into the pool to practice swimming with us as he wasn't going to be in there with them playing games!!
The only downsides I can think of with the hotel was that, as someone else has said, the beds were horrible - they have some sort of incontinence sheet underneath - which I can understand why but gets sticky during the night. We did find a couple of enormous cockroaches wandering around, and we could hear a lot of noise from the apartment above - which is slightly annoying when it is late at night with 2 small children. Also there are no lifts so we had to drag 2 pushchairs and 2 children up 2 flights of stairs everyday.

The hill is a bit annoying - more so walking up it in the stifling heat during the day - evenings are actually quite nice and at least you feel like you are working off some of those calories!

Restaurants - Bella Roma is opposite and Belvedere is just down the road. The menu caters for pretty much every taste - this means that the food is not amazing but is nice. We ate there quite a few times during the 2 weeks because they are easy to get to and fairly priced. In each restaurant we had a couple of meals that we thought were very nice and a couple we thought were average. We thought the squid in Belvedere was very nice though - it is one of the first restaurants we have come across that cook them well.
Rosie's Mexican - We found that is was perfectly nice. The meal I had was OK - nothing to shout about but did the job, however my husband thought his was very nice - he loves spicy things and chose the hotest thing on the menu and said it was tasty although loads of cheese was chucked onto the top of everything on the plate.
Locanda Italiana - This is in the same stretch as Harish Tandoori and Taylors Lounge and is next to Oyster Catcher I think. Although you don't actually go to the Canaries for Italian food it is really nice - slightly more expensive than the others - but really lovely - we had pasta (all different ones) and Tornedo Rossini and fillet steak there - they were done brilliantly - we also had chocolate souffle for pudding and it was done correctly along with a very attentive service - WELL RECOMMENDED!
In all we found the food very samey in all restaurants and although fish was nice, there was nothing that was very obviously African/Canarian apart from Chicken in sauce and canarian pototes - which are just new pots cooked in salt.
Also children have little to no choice - we ended up ordering normal meals from the menu and asking for two plates so that they didn't end up coming home with artery failure from all the deep fried food they were offered!

Another place worth a mention is the hotel above - Hollywood Mirage - you are allowed in there and Beverley Hills Club FOC as they are part of the same group - restaurant there was really nice and pool - although busier is good for kids.

Finally - we went to Loro Park which was brilliant for the kids with all the animal shows as was Jungle Park - a great zoo with all the animals really close, and Siam Park is the most amazing water Park - worth pointing out that it is quite expensive for what you get if you are going with young children - ours are 2 and 1 and we were only allowed in 1 tiny kids area because of their size - a waste of money just for this - however my husband and I took it in turns to queue for the big water slides and went on by ourselves and they were BRILLIANT! Santa Cruz is the place to shop as well for choice and value...

Hope this is helpful x

Stayed at the BHH for one week as an exchange. Travelling were myself and five other friends, ranging in age from twenties through too forties, all women.

The resort itself is very quiet and true to previous reviews at the top of a very steep hill, but by the end of the holiday we were enjoying the walk. (plenty of taxis at the Beverley Hills Club for those who prefer not to hike).

At the Club, which guests at the Heights can use, is a couple of small pools a supermarket and an evening entertainment venue called the Show Bar, all acts were a bit cheesy - but good for a laugh.

Steak house restaurant across the street was poor but the Belvedere restaurant above the supermarket 100m down the hill was very good and had a great view. Supermarket has everything you may need and opened late till around 2200hrs. The one in the CLUB was poor and expensive

A word of warning though the mexican restaurant advertised heavily throughout the resort - Rosies Canteena - was absolutley shocking. The service from the manager appalling and the food in-edible - go to the supermarket and you could get everything you need to make a better and more authentic mexican meal at a fraction of the cost. We paid 107 euros for three starters and six main meals - all named and described differently on the menu - but all arrived looking and tasting the same - even the manager could not tell them apart - worst resturant I have been too in a long time. Got an apology from the resort manager but not from the resturant manager when we complained to him in the first instance.

Also the night security was reminiscent of a military exercise. On several occasions we were surprised by a guard hiding in the folliage - demanding to know where we were going when we were heading back to our apartment - very un-nerving for a group of women travelling together.

Apartment was lovely, however, not as well stocked as other RCI apartments we have stayed at previously and the numerous cockroaches put us all off, especially when found inside your toilet bag.

Would probabaly still go back - but only on a late deal.
