“Maspalomas means many doves :-)”
Reviewed May 24, 2013

Visited the beach twice in May 2013. Hot and sunny all week, 30 degrees. Went in the sea also. Rented 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella sun shade, about 6 euros all day, can't remember exact price. Clean sandy beach. Had to run to sea as sand burnt your feet it was so hot. I'm a big softy. Showers to clean off if required. Kiosk selling refreshments. Had a back massage off Chinese lady and her husband for 15 euros. Locals selling pineapple, melon and coconuts on the beach. Africans selling sunglasses and shiny watches. Female Africans selling cheap bracelets to vulnerable people for 2 euros or more quite aggressively. People selling timeshare apartments on the promenade, be careful it's a con. We stayed at a local hotel called Baobab. Lots of restaurants on the sea front and locally. As you walk past some of the eateries the approach you and ask you to have a meal. Nice beach, some topless ladies, but not many. Nude beach a few hundred yards further away. Plenty of signage warning of nude beach. Police patrol area on quads. Lifeguards on watch. 40 cents to use the loo, free if you use a café etc. Enjoyed ourselves, would go again.

“Too Windy”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Lots of sun and sand, but both days I tried to go to the beach it was too windy. Even with an umbrella to break the wind it was unpleasant. I preferred to sit by the hotel pool.

“Gorgeous desert type beach but be warned about nudists!”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Just arrived back from Maspalomas for a week away post exams. When I booked it originally I was not aware of the nudist beach- so be warned, go too far over the sand dunes and clothes became scarce, so unless you like that type of thing avoid at all costs!

The area itself is quite nice, there are lots of shops and the area is surrounded by palm trees so it feels, at times, like your in LA rather than Spain. However, I found there wasn't that much to do in the centre so if you want an active holiday you may be best going to Playa Del Ingles.
