Returned here in October for another relaxing family holiday at this well kept complex. We had two bungalows and noticed that there had been some improvements since last year. The bungalows had been freshened up with a lick of paint and new prints on the walls, new mattresses and the addition of a microwave oven which was appreciated by my elderly mother for making her porridge every morning. I had emailed ahead to request bungalows close together and near to the Reception for the benefit of my mother who is unable to walk very far without becoming breathless and this they duly obliged. The staff here are all very friendly and helpful and the maids all work hard to keep the bungalows clean but always find time to have a quick chat. The staff in the dining room were run off their feet most of the time and could really do with another pair of hands. The food was just okay this time but we always managed to find something to eat but sometimes the choices weren't always things that we would put together but hey..... when in Rome and all that. That would be our only complaint though. Reception has a direct line for taxis and you get to most places nearby for around 4 or 5 euros. If you visit the Yumbo Centre make sure to have a meal at the Centrum, excellent value for money and they remembered us from our frequent visits last year and welcomed us like old friends. All in all if you don't mind being a wee bit out of the way (Holiday World and Supermarket within walking distance) then this is a great base for comfortable and clean accommodation. We will definitely go back to these bungalows and would happily recommend them.

Room Tip: all bungalows are on ground level but email ahead of your trip if you need to be closer to the recep...

The bungalows were fully booked for Oct & Nov so they are very popular. Nice bedroom, bathroom & lounge/kitchen: Nice terrace :Good soundproofing from adjoining properties. The owners do stress Quietness and it was pretty good. It is very multinational with not too many Brits. Yes, there are a good few Germans but we know they are fussy about accommodation and think this is a good sign. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner on site or you can totally self cater ther is a small mini market on site. The nearby Faro centre had 4 restaurants....we liked the ALSTADT on the upper floor as it was the most "open". The chinese ROYAL did a nice takeaway which stayed hot . The carhire firm ISLACAR have a rep in reception...very handy and fuss free.
Staff had good english and were helpful; cleaning girls were all cheerful and efficient.
There are many returning customers.

Room Tip: We asked for quiet position and sunny terrace and we got both.

The bungalow was more than we expected. The staff were excellent and the place was spotless. The only downfall was entertainment, but what we paid we cannot complain. It was about 20 minute walk to the beach, but there is a courtesy bus. The supermarket is about 10 min walk to the Faro 2 shopping centre. The food at El Nublo was fab. A lot of Spanish people when we were there, but not a problem. We were sold it as a 2 star, I have been to worse places as a 3 star. If your looking for more pay more money!

We found the complex excellent value. The bungalow we had was small but perfectly adequate for our needs. We were on bed & breakfast so only ever used the kettel and fridge but if you wnated to i am sure the cooker hob and microwave would be useful. The staff were all very friendly from our arrival to our departure. The maid did a great job and added personal touches with flowers and laying out bed clothes. We only ate breakfast and it was the usual spread from continentla to full english. The only downside is that there is no air con although the bedroomsdo have a big ceiling fan. A free bus takes you to maspalomas and brigns you back a few times a day. We cuaght a taxi in the evenings which reception were only to happy to arrange and only cost 31/2 euro's each way. Maspaomas is a nice flat resort compared with puerto rico or playa inglais. The local bus service is easy to use. all in all if you are going to gran canaria then this is a well recomended complex.

I have used this complex of bungalows 4 times to date. The complex is comprised of blocks of four adjoining bungalows with each having a bedroom with double and single bed, wardrobe with safe inside (safe use at extra cost from reception), nicely fitted shower rooms with walk in double shower, (towels Provided), Lounge area with Flat screen TV and seating area which doubles for a single bed space should that be needed and a compact kitchen space. The kitchen has a surface flush two ring electric hob and sink with a few cupboards containing basic crockery, pots and pans and a few other bits and pieces (don't expect to find every conceivable inplement you could possibly want because its basic). Kettle, toaster microwave and fridge are just about all you could need as long as youre not feeding the five thousand and are prepared to be a bit adventurous with your culinary skills.
The lounge leads out to the patio furnished with table & chairs and two sun beds as well as a washing line to dry your towels, beach wear and any other item you get wet or wash by hand in the sink. Everything drys quite quickly and is safe to leave on the line while your exploring the island or by the pool chilling out. Towels are changed regularly throughout the week but not every day as are the beds, however, the maids called in to make up the beds most days as we found out on our return. The bungalows are being upgraded and all have new matresses and bedding; air conditioning is going to be installed by next year but all have ceiling fans in the bedrooms at present.
The staff are very accomodating and friendly and will certainly help you out where needed and do appreciate attempts by us to speak Spanish but all speak english. The grounds are well manicured and the facilities are very good for its 1 star rating. (personally speaking, it deserves a higher star rating) but you can make up your own mind. Just be aware though, if you expect ultra luxury you are looking in the wrong place and you need to spend a lot more on alternative accomodation. The bungalows can be booked for your stay at very reasonable prices online or direct and will give you a sound clean and safe base to stay for your holiday. There is a laundry service from reception at a small cost. The whole site is owned by two brothers i am advised who own half each and run them as separate businesses hence the two reception areas in the reception entrance which also has internet facilities, a cash machine and free wifi with use of the comfortable seating areas.
There is also a small shop in reception to buy your basics although to go out to a supermarket is a lot cheaper if you intend to save money and or have a more substancial shopping list. Faro 2 shopping centre is within walking distance and has a couple or restaurants (El Neublo) steak house is very good, and a small but well stocked supermaket. Taxi'ing to the Spar in San Fernado will give you the full supermarket experience! 20-30 minute walk to the beach and the light house or take one of two free shuttle buses in the morning and back in the afternoons. Reception staff will happily call a taxi for you on request.
The complex has two main pools, one salt water and the other chlorinated with a small childrens pool in the middle as well as a basket ball and volley ball court and two tennis courts (equipment from reception for a small fee) Taxi's to the town or Yumbo Centre (check out reviews for the Yumbo centre before you go) for night life and restaurants are just a few euros, although unless you're lucky to get a taxi driver that speaks english conversation is usually minimal but they are all efficient and reasonably priced. You will make your holiday what you will but i can honestly say that as a base for those that want to be on the beaches or out exploring or even sitting by the pool it's a nice place to be. It is a family resort and so children can be a little loud around the pool but if you dont mind that or are brave enough to ask parents to keep there children under control and turn the volumne down a bit all is good. Personally i've done my 18 years of parenting and will leave the tantrums of toddlers to others and go and enjoy the island or the beaches.
The beach..... Golden saharan sands along a few miles stretch between maspalomas lighthouse (El Faro) and playa del ingles with the dunes as far as the eye can see. There are specific sections of beach at each end for families and then further along are nudist areas and then a more gay oriented section of the beach, normally nudist, and so if you're a little shy about naked people you may want to avert your eyes or stay at either end nearer the resorts. Remember also that the spanish like to visit Gran canaria at the weekends and as they siesta in the afternoons can be more active in the evenings until late, including the kids. It's usually never a problem and you'll aclimatise accordingly.
Some people have written scathing reviews about accomodation being overrun with cockroaches. Gran Canaria is an island and so the roaches cannot go anywhere else and love the sub tropical environment. They are about in ALL areas of the island and come out at night mostly tending to come in through open windows, so leaving food out or not cleaning up after yourselves will attract them, but you can get sprays that will deter them from coming in and will also kill them. you just have to be sensible about this, they are an inhabitant of all the canary islands (and every continent and country besides) and thats just the way it is!! Do check your cases before you return home to ensure stray bugs have not nipped in to hitch a lift and if you have a bug spray it may be worth giving the case a spray before you pack it. If you do happen to find any of these little critters in your bungalow, let the reception staff know and they will arrange for it to be removed and will often arrange for the bungalow to be sprayed throughout. Just keep things clean, tie rubbish bags and get a can of spray!!! don't let this put you off, put them out!! Now enjoy your holiday !!!

Room Tip: Bungalow number 85 faces the volley ball court and has a nice outlook across the grounds and up to t...

I will be honest, this place is not for everyone but they are definitely worth more then the official 1 star rating. Lets start with the basics, its clean, well run, a great design and has very good facilities. The bungalows are in clusters of four, facing out from each other with your own patio. Some have a better location than others but all are in private well kept gardens. They have been refurbished with a lovely walk in double shower. You get a basic kitchenette area with no oven, some limited kitchen utensils, if you need more ask at reception, they are very friendly. The TV is a flat screen and has loads of free channels - handy for a early night in with a bottle of wine.

They are on the small side but bigger than a standard double hotel room. The complex feels safe and secure, its staffed 24 hours and although noisy at times, the pools are clean and there is a bar and restaurant on site. Another plus is free wifi in reception, a cash machine, small shop and luggage store for early check out. Location wise its a 3.75 euro taxi ride (4 people) to the town, a bit more to the beach. There is twice daily free bus to the beach make use of it although its a longish but flat walk to the beach, about 20 to 30 mins depending on how fast you walk.

The local area is mainly more accommodation but if you do your research there is a small theme park, shopping centre and places to eat within easy walking distance. The faro 2 shopping centre is only worth a night time visit as its run down and empty but the El Nueblo steak house is worth eating at. The supermarket at Faro 2 is cheaper than the on site shop but get a taxi into San Fernando and the Spar Supermarket if you want cheaper prices and more choice.

I would recommend hiring a car, seek out the Tui Auto Reisen Shop in Playa Des Ingles, ask for directions, its well priced and you get the reassurance of a big name and support if anything goes wrong. Remember to check the tyres for wear and pay the 3 euros a day FULL insurance, its worth it.

Get out and about, go inland up the mountains, fabulous views of the island, do visit Peurto Morgan in the west and remember the beach at Maspalomas is stunning but is does have family, nudist and gay areas- so take dark sunglasses!

The Yumbo Centre is worth a visit or two, its quiet until around 10.30 - 11pm at night then it can be very loud but fun. If you need to spoil yourselves get a taxi to Melonores, its a very up market flash, luxury, resort area with prices and shops to match. Pick your evening meal eatery carefully, watch the prices and you can have a real special night out. Lots to see and do, street entertainment, this is where the expensive hotels are located.

i have been to club maspalomas 1 several times now, they are planning to add air con by next year, book in to the club maspalomas 2 (same resort) if you want air con now! The only down side is the noise from families and kids around the pool, that said its great value for money and i will be going back next year!

Room Tip: go for bungalow 85 at the end of the green, good views and away from the pool and bar / reception ar...

This is a really beautiful complex of white-washed bungalows set among luxuriant palm trees. The bungalows themselves (4 apartments in each) are spotless and ideal for couples or small family groups. The gardens and grounds, the swimming poos and pool bar, are really excellent.

There was an overhead fan in our apartment which was too noisy at night, and the nights were very warm, sticky in fact. The restaurant was good and not too pricy.

The surroundings were ideal for older couples who just want to chill out by the pool. Maspalomas beach is a short cab ride away or a leisurely half-hour walk. Playa Del Ingles is a ten minute cab ride away.

Room Tip: All the bungalows are in a beautiful location.
