Tabaiba Princess
Ranked #54 of 218 Hotels in Maspalomas
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Just returned from a one week's stay at the Tabaiba Princess. Along with the Maspalomas Princess they form 2 identical hotels connected together, sharing the pool area. The Tababiba being the hotel First Choice use for All Inclusive and Maspalomas Thomson's hotel for half board. If you opt to upgrade to full board at the Maspalomas you come across to the Tabaiba for lunch only.
Our initial room in the hotel (3rd floor beside the lift) had a very strong sewage like smell about it and after mentioning it to our rep at the welcome meeting the next day he wasted no time in getting us moved. We had no problems after that.
There are more sunbeds than hotel guests at the hotel so no need to rush down in the morning which was good. Although there are not too many parasols you will find a sunbed in a shady area if thats what you are after. I only took part in one pilates class but all the activities organised by the entertainment team looked good.
As part of our holiday package we got to dine at the a la carte restaurant La Hacienda on one night - booked through reception. This is located in the "beach" area of the hotel. Here we were presented with a wine menu which had prices on it..we selected a 1/2 litre bottle of the rose not realising that Thomson pick up the tab for the drink! Water is 2 euro for 1/2 litre but again we did not have to pay for this. The room at this restaurant was delicious and made a pleasant change from by now well familiar surroundings of the restaurant in the hotel.
We played tennis on one occasion but at almost 15 euro a go this is a bit expensive (7.20 for the court, same again for the rackets & balls). Crazy golf was not quite as bad with "happy hour" between 5 & 7pm bringing the cost down to 3.50 euro per couple on a buy one, get one free offer.
We went on the "taste & traditions" trip which takes you up through the mountains of the local principality. This was a good 1/2 day trip with a visit to a local winery among other stops. Craig, our guide, was very informative and does not stop talking - you have been warned! Palmitos the local animal park is well worth a visit - the shows being a highlight. Taxi there cost 14 euro. We also went to the open air cinema which was very good- 15 euro each with drinks reasonably priced.
Our transfer home arrived at the hotel 15mins earlier than the due time but luckily we were already in the hotel's reception and we did not have to wait too long for everyone to board the bus. All in one we had an enjoyable week's stay at the Tabaiba Princess.

Stayed here with my husband and some friends for two weeks. The hotel is very large but they cope very well with the number of guests they have. Always clean, staff are lovely.
The rooms are nice, the beds are a little firm, and I found initially this was uncomfortable, however this is a personal choice and I was used to it quite quickly.
The pool is fantastic, plenty of sun beds although the are a little uncomfortable as you can only really have them all the way or All the way down.
The all inclusive package is very good, the bars are open a lot longer than other hotels I've been too. The alcoholic drinks themselves are not the best, but are good enough for all inclusive, the spirits are very strong measures. You can purchase other drinks and we went to the golf bar for cocktails frequently, as they were very nice. The staff are always good at warning you if you are ordering something not in the all inclusive package. Food was also very good, considering the numbers they cater for it was always fresh and there was always some variety and when eating in the restaurant we never had to wait very long. I would recommend larger cups for water by the pool, as water is help yourself and I found the small cups were inconvenient when you wanted to drink a lot of water in the heat.

The entertainment is regular through the day and evening but the evening entertainment varied a lot in terms of quality. We very much enjoyed all the animal shows. The hotel itself is not conveniently located for any other evening entertainment, so you would need to get a taxi elsewhere if you didn't want to stay in the hotel at night.

Overall this hotel was very good and I would be happy to recommend it.

Just returned home from a 10 day all inclusive break.Could'nt fault the hotel apart from there wasn't much to do for young people.....they cater more for the older generation.

The food was good and alway's plenty of it in the restaurant and at the outside bars. The rooms were very large and spacious and kept very clean every day if you put your sign on your door.

The swimming pool was very large and kept clean every day...and alway's plenty of sun loungers to go round.

Could do with more shops and bars nearer to the hotel although taxi's and buses are very cheap to travel on.

We went on a few excursions.....the Jeep Safari which is a great day out, would definatly do it again, well worth the money and the other was the Music Hall Tavern, fantasic evening we have never laughed so much.

Very good hotel stayed for 2weeks hated the piano player very boring. No parasols and need new sunbeds. Apart from that loved it there and if ever in gran canaria would go back to this hotel. The drinks are ready mixed and awful food OK had better. Joanne was a perfect rep very helpful and cheerful even after she had to put up with one let's say pest of a holiday maker. All in all had a good time.

We have been to this hotel over 6 times and never had any problem whatsoever . It is always spotlessly clean, the reception staff, bar staff and the maids who keep the rooms clean do an excellent job The only problem we encountered were a couple of the restaurant staff were very slow in clearing the tables, however saying that ANGEL who works in the restaurant does an excellent job and makes sure everything is right for you

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Tabaiba Princess Hotel with my family and had an amazing time. Weather was great all week , hotel very impressive with clean large modern rooms and very attractive marble reception. Staff very helpful, food was good and was always a wide selection of choice for every meal. The pool areas were amazing very clean plenty of sunbeds and bar/snack areas , the only down side was the imitation sand which was a grey fine gravel that really hurts your feet to walk on . Entertainment was ok a different act on each evening but not much going on to entertain teenagers , however the hotel has a a crazy golf course which is good fun. You can use all the facilities at the sister hotel also the maspalomas princess which is based on half board rather than all inclusive.
The hotel is situated in a good location and near to sonneland the dunes and the centre of maspalomas also which was a great selection of shops and restaurants. A lovely hotel and a welcoming relaxing break would def return .

Room Tip: rooms are better overlooking golf course
