Travelled with husband and our 8 year old son for 7 nights, all inclusive. Check in (8.30 p.m.) was very quick and efficient and we were able to go straight into the restaurant for dinner. We had a double room (2 singles pushed together) and a ready made-up sofa-bed. Beds were made daily and bed linen was changed after 3 days. Towels were changed when left on bathroom floor. A nice surprise was 3 large beach towels in our room ready to take to the pool.
Safe in wardrobe (13.50 euros) and fridge in sideboard cupboard (13.50 euros) – fridge will hold 2 x 2 litre bottles. Don’t be too hasty to pay for fridge key… wait and see if yours in room is already unlocked first! 2 complimentary 500ml bottles of water in room from tour operator when we arrived.
18” non-flat screen TV in room. Mostly non-English channels but we did get Sky News and the Disney Channel with good reception.
If you have arranged a late checkout room with your tour operator, you will need to get reception to re-activate your key in the afternoon, as after 12.00 noon (usual check out time) the key card de-activates and wont let you into the room again.
Third floor rooms are nice and quiet (unless next to the lift) and either get balcony sun in the morning or afternoon depending whether they overlook the pool or gardens. E-mail hotel in advance to request a certain view or floor. Air conditioning is efficient if used properly – patio door needs to be fully shut and one of the room keycards needs to be in the “light slot”. If you leave card in slot and patio doors shut with curtain closed in day time the room is lovely and cool when you return.
Supermarket across road at back of hotel. Exit hotel complex by back gate (next to Mini Golf) Dunas supermarket is opposite. Nearest beach (if you are desperate for sea and real sand) is Melonares about a 20 minute walk from the hotel following the dry river bed. Good market every Wednesday and Saturday morning at San Fernando (about 4 euros in a taxi). Taxi rank right outside hotel reception.
Giant outdoor chess board (free)
Mini Golf 9 hole course – go when it is happy hour and its 2 for 1!
Table tennis on terrace of Maspalomas Princess (free – deposit for bats)
Very efficient lift system. 4 lifts serving 3 floors – rooms nearest to the lifts on any of the 3 floors are subject to “lift noise”.
Plenty of sunbeds to go around but those in premium places i.e. next to pools get taken early. Most of these had towels on them by 7.15 a.m. so if you want a poolside bed you will need to be up early! The “grit beach” takes a bit of getting used to and is lethal on your feet in hot sun. You definitely need flip flops to walk on it. It would be better if the grit was replaced by either grass or sand. However, the “grit beach” is kept clean and not littered. The pools are exceptionally clean and there are suitable areas for all swimming abilities. Wooden fixed parasols are dotted around but there are not that many of them, so either take a parasol or purchase one either from the local supermarket or one of the beach shops at Melonares beach (7 euros) .
La Choza poolside bar serves a seemingly endless supply of hot dogs, burgers, ham & cheese toasties, chips, salad, fruit, cakes, sandwiches, rolls, ice creams, coffee, tea, cold soft drinks, beer, alcohol and water. All these are regularly replenished. Hotel dining room is very large and airy. Beer, wine and soft drinks all on tap to help yourself. Men are required to wear long trousers in restaurant for evening meal and shirts/t-shirts with sleeves (i.e. no vests). Always a good variety of food at each meal time and children well catered for. Dishes replenished frequently.
Computers are available in reception area and 10 mins internet access costs 1 euro. Wi-fi is available in the reception area at a cost. We had no language difficulties with reception staff - their English was very good.
We were very happy with this hotel and its facilities but if you are looking for lots of entertainment and drinking until the early hours or “clubbing/disco’s” you will be disappointed. Fairly short coach transfer from airport too – only about 40 minutes. Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Floor 3 is quiet (unless next to lift). Garden view has balcony sun in morning and pool view has sun...

My husband and I plus our adult daughter and 17 year old son stayed for. 11 nights from 13th August this year. We booked two rooms and asked both our tour op and the hotel by email for rooms close to each other. We were allocated two lovely rooms with extra large balconies next door to each other. On arrival at the all inclusive hotel we were surprised that no provision was made to give us any food on the first night as we had arrived at 9.30pm. The check in clerk took the stance that as we were late the restaurant was closed and we would have to buy food from the sister hotel next door. We opted instead to walk to a local restaurant and buy ourselves dinner, I think that this is ridiculous as we have stayed
in many many all inclusive hotels arriving sometimes much later and there has always been a welcome drink and some form of food even when the restaurants are closed the hotel
usually has sandwiches or pizza and soup for people coming in on later flights. The attitude
to our arrival was not a great first impression. Having said that, the rooms were very clean, and contrary to previous reviews i thought the beds were very comfortable (2 twins pushed together as is quite usual in Spain)and the rooms were well equipped.
We then went to the piano bar but were told that the all inclusive had stopped there and we
would need to go to the show bar for a drink at 11.30pm and that that bar would close at 12pm. There have been several complaints about the speed in which the bar staff serve you but generally we did not have any problems with that.Although there will always be some guests who do not understand that you wait for your turn when standing at the bar or at a restaurant line.
We took a nightcap up to our room at midnight and sat on our balcony with it, the balconies have external lights but these are operated by the hotel and everything is dark after 12pm on the balconies. The next morning we got up to get breakfast at around 8.30am, the restaurant is enormous and although the Maitre De finds you a table quickly sometimes the table is not laid fully and depending on your server it may never get fully set up or plates cleared very quickly, also there are dozens of staff whizzing around with trolleys of food
replenishing, (or perhaps more accurately shuffling) the buffet and they do not wait for the
clients to pass back to their tables so it can be tricky manoeuvring safely with your plate and dodging these trolleys plus hundreds of other guests doing the same. The food is never
really hot, and although there is an open kitchen making omelettes etc they are on a mass produced rather than individual basis, quite unlike other four star hotels of similar size. The
pool is very big and looks like a lagoon with a beach area which is very attractive, there are loads of sun beds, although on our first morning these were all reserved by towels (we
began setting a clock to ensure we did the same ( although as we got towards the end of the school holiday season there appeared to be less people at the hotel and so the need to do this became less so if you go outside school holiday season this may not be an issue) The hotel provides a pool towel per guest, if you wish to change these during your stay you can for 1Euro per towel (ecological reasons). The artificial beach area is made of fine gravel, I had read that the cats use it as a litter tray and was a bit unsure of using this area but to be honest I only saw 3 cats during my stay and certainly never encountered any cat mess
on or around the beach area. We chose to sit on the terrace area near the pool most days and this was nice, however there are no parasols so you will need to buy your own, they range from 10 to 20euros each, I bought 2 smaller ones from the hotel shop and these were a godsend in the scorching sunshine. The pool was very clean although there were a few
broken sharp mosaic tiles and I did cut my foot standing on these, also the gravel from the beach is carried into the pool on children's feet and this can be quite uncomfortable especially when doing aqua aerobics in the shallow part of the pool.

This brings me to one of the better aspects of the hotel, the daytime activities are great, lots to do for everyone during the day and some very enthusiastic animation team members.
There is a young lady from Slovakia who works very hard to make the aqua gym, zumba, pilates etc fantastic fun. She also is in the evening shows most evenings and leads the
children in the club dances, I never found out her name but hope she reads this as she was Great :)

Unfortunately most of the entertainment that comes from outside sources is lacklustre to say
the least. It lasts for less than an hour each evening, starting at 10pm and the only other entertainment is from about 9pm to 11pm in the garden by the piano bar when there will be
a keyboard player or similar. Another review tells you to buy some playing cards and I
second that advise.

TO SUM UP:
ROOMS.. nice. POOL..attractive but needs some minor repairs.
GRAVEL BEACH AREA.. cleaner than has been previously suggested.
DAYTIME ACTIVITIES.. fun and varied.
EVENING ENTERTAINMENT not the best, children's shows might be ok but didn't watch these.
RESTAURANT. can be chaotic and food uninspiring and repetitive and not warm enough. BARS..generally ok and drinks are generous measures, local brands.
STAFF..mixed reviews here as some are excellent (waiter Daniel in restaurant and bar man
at pool during day and show bar at night Carlos, very friendly and hard working, a couple of
male bar staff less helpful and ditto with the restaurant staff)
LOCATION.. Ok.. Half hour walk to Market and half hour in different direction to the beach.

We did enjoy our holiday here as it is what you make it, but with just a few tweaks and attention to detail this could be a fab hotel.

A very nice touch was the bottle of sparkling wine left for my daughter as she celebrated her birthday, we did not ask for this or expect it so it was a very pleasant surprise, so thank you for that.

Room Tip: Always ask your tour op or travel agent to arrange special requests, and send an email to hotel rece...

It is great value for money. Rooms great, food great and loads of choice, all inclusive drinks good as well.

Evening entertainment is a disappointment, but elderly will enjoy it.

Would go back again.

My boyfriend and i returned in July 2011. We returned very disappointed! the staff are rude and made our holiday very uncomfortable, i have never came across staff like it. The entertainment was awful in the Tabaiba princess, you are in a dark hall, far too hot, with the worst entertainment possible. We were promised professional shows & piano bar. NO!! you can indeed get this if you go to the hotel next door maspalomas princess. This hotel was great friendly staff, entertainment outside beautifully set, but when you go there you loose your all inclusive rights. There was drilling every day at the pool, as one of the pool bars had burnt down week before we got there. No music was played round the pool, only for one hour everyday for water areobics. This holiday was a joke! All we can say if you havent booked dont.

Me and my husband spent a week at the Tabaiba Princess and first impressions were very good, the hotel and grounds are very well kept and the reception had a 'wow' factor. Our room was very clean and usable but on arrival we tried to use the safe only to discover we had to rent it, and it was the same for the fridge(on an all-inclusive holiday we really don't expect to pay for a fridge), and our telly didn't work. Not a good start. We were also a bit disappointed with our balcony because it was the size of a postage stamp(maybe a slight exaggeration), and in permanent shade due to the foliage.
The sister hotel, The Maspalomas Princess is adjoined and as this one was only half-board it made the bars a bit confusing, some wanted money even though we were sporting our attractive blue wrist bands! Why did they think it a good idea to build two identical hotels next to each other with different facilities?
The food was very good with a good variety, but we found the idea of having buffet food every night quite limiting. It is nice sometimes to base an evening around a meal even if you have to pay a bit extra for a la carte. This was just not an option, the only restaurant on site that offered this was afternoons only. There just didn't seem to be any point in making much of an effort for an evening meal that was over in half an hour.
The other problem we had was getting water. As an all-inclusive deal
with a lid. We saw people filling their bottles from the pump at breakfast so we took ours down the next day only to find a sign forbidding this. They even turned the pump off to make a point. I found them very nit-picky and tight fisted considering what people pay to stay there.
On a bit of a positive note, although we would not return to this hotel it was very clean and well kept. There are plenty of sunbeds and the pools are lovely which provide a good setting for the whole resort.

Room Tip: Don't get a ground floor room. The higher rooms had much nicer balconies.

Well run hotel with good rooms and friendly staff. Huge swimming pools but not heated. Activities to do run by hotel in day and night time entertainment which was good. Overall hotel feels a bit cramped. Majority of guests are German.

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room

My family and I, including two teenagers, returned from a fantastic stay at this lovely hotel on 16 August 2011. To be frank, on reading previous reviews I wonder if we were all staying at the same hotel, due to all the negative comments. I think, for the money paid, it was great value and those making negative comments maybe need to rethink and increase their budget. As for cockroaches, well, for those of us who travel, this is a hot country and are they not to be expected? From arrival to departure we found all the staff very professional, efficient, polite and attentive to any questions asked. The location is isolated, however this was perfect for us as a family. The food was plentiful with enough choice for all, bearing in mind that this hotel mass caters, I thought they always strived to maintain high standards. There were a wide variety of nationalities with which we shared this hotel, for my part, increasing the overall holiday experience. Would definitely return.
