what a lovely location ideal for those just wanting to chill out.
we can understand why some people want more as it is quite an isolated location but you can walk to all the busy locations or catch a bus (which is free and stops outside the gate) or a taxi which were plentifull and cheap. staff were very helpful and always availabile with tips and advice. Food was excellent but reasonably priced as was the drinks. Everybody got on and chatted whatever the language.

we found that there was enough there for us as all we wanted was a quiet time to enjoy the sun and relax.

magnolias natura ,well it was our first time there, myself (steve and (anne) really enjoyed out stay, apart from x/l airways going bust, the staff are really nice warm and very friendly and always willing to help, nice pool , jacuzzi ,and plenty of sunbeds, the grounds are a bit small but other wise nicley kept and clean.
on arrival you are given a bus pass to maspalomas beach/lighthouse,and playa del inglas, the naturist beach at maspalomas is about a 10/15 min walk along the beach, i would advise you to walk along the sea front as it is a lot easier than trying to slog through dry sand. back to magnolias, if you want to eat at the resort you will always get a really nice meal and the chef knows what he is doing, from the apartments the shops are about 10/15 mins walk away and there are also plenty of good restaurants to eat at, i recommed the chinese on the ground level. you are never away from any from any nightlife, just hop into a taxi, they are always around , could go on but just try magnolias natura great for first timers and seasoned naturists , in fact great for all.

steve and anne.

This is the perfect place to unwind. The pool area has space for all and the pool (and jacuzzi) just the right size.
The apartments are well equiped, with extras like kettle & toaster.
On arrival we were given a bus ticket which can be used to get to either the lighthouse (for the beach) or into Playa Del Ingles (near the Yumbo centre). The bus runs approx 6 times a day.
The restaurant in the complex we couldn't fault. Ok, slightly biased towards English food, but cooked by someone who really cared about their food. And also a good place to talk to your neighbours!
The site reception has a small shop, just for drinks (i.e. water, juices, wines etc), everything else you'll have to get from the supermarket 20 mins walk away. Taxi's go passed the resort quite often so there's no need to book one, just flag one down.
I was only there for a week, and wished I'd booked for longer.

We find it really tough getting solid insider information about places we're thinking of travelling to, so have decided to tell you stuff we would have liked to know before making our holiday decisions.

In many ways Magnolias Natura is almost idyllic - peaceful and safe. The staff are pleasant and for a while it seems a delight. You do generally feel cared for/about.

However its a shame that they don't seem able to attend to the few simple things which would move it from 90% to 95% ... remedy a few things which could easily/cheaply make this as near to a dream vacation as possible.

Lack of helpful local information etc that could easily be dealt with by:
Telling you how to get to the best nearby supermarcado and baker (presumably they want to encourage you to eat at their 'restaurant' which is mostly grilled with salad and chips so not to everyone's taste and a definite shortcoming);
Recommending the few nice restaurants (presumably for the same reason);
Mentioning the naturist evening at a hotel spa in Maspalomas;
Explaining the shortcut to walk into town;

Then there are some other things which would make the stay more pleasant:
Having more than Sky news as the only English-language television channel;
Posting mail for visitors (the nearest box is some distance);
Importantly there's nowhere in the complex to walk or play boule/frisby/pingpong or exercise - its literally just buildings with garden borders and a pool with loungers (there is a basement room where a cycling machine and treadmill etc could be installed);
Putting wifi connections in the bungalows (there is apparently a signal in the bar area);
A large stock of well-maintained board games etc including large jenga would be a welcome addition as a way for people to occupy themselves and to make friends (if you are on your own or a not very sociable couple, you will find time hanging heavy before/after sunbathing) - there are no scheduled 'icebreaker' moments either, so people tend not to pal up - and nothing on television to distract you ... the vastness of the informal library is testament to the eventual tedium.

Things to know:
At peak times all sunloungers are in use so people tend to get up early and put towels on theirs so that they can be together;
There is quite a lot of cigarette smoke poolside and sunloungers are crammed together so you can't escape;
The naturist beach is 30minutes fast walk away (there is an occasional shuttle bus to the beach and the town though, and taxis are cheap);
After the reception shuts and the occasional shuttle bus stops, if you want to go out, you either have to ask the bar to get you a taxi, or have a hire car, or walk (bear in mind that it gets dark quite early and everything is a way away especially if you stick to the roads);
Arriving after about 10.30pm can be problematic, so you need to telephone well before that so you can be sure that you'll get into the complex.

Having said all of that, its important that we emphasise that these are all minor points, but nevertheless taken together they are a bit of a negative.

We don't know anywhere better/more convenient for naturist winter sun but its such a shame that they haven't just done that tiny bit more, which would improve the feeling of wellbeing and contentment significantly

My thoughts on the Complex, Magnolias Natura is that it is really a nice place to stay. The complex is all naturist, where you can wonder freely anywhere in the complex nude. They have a well kept swimming pool next to the Bar and Restaurant. Even if you are not on half or full board, you can always have a meal here. It saves cooking yourself, and who really wants to cook when you are on holiday. The bungalows, 28 of them in total, are all self contained. They consist of a large Kitchen come lounge area. The Kitchen has 2 electric hot rings, a Toaster, Coffee Maker, and Fridge. The Lounge has a Television, and a Compact Disk Player come Radio & Tape player. There is also an iron, and Telephone. The Sofa also turns into a sofa bed, that's if there were 3 people sharing the accommodation. The Bathroom has a Bath and Shower, Toilet and Bidet, plus a sink. It is quite a large size compared to most Bungalows. The Bedroom, (some Bungalows have a double bed, but the one I stayed in, was a Twin room). There are 2 built in Wardrobes, and also air conditioning. You have to get a remote control from Reception if you need to turn the air con on. Inside one of the Wardrobes there is a safe attached to the wall, again you need a key from Reception. There is a small charge for this. The Bungalows get cleaned 5 times a week. Tuesday and Thursday are the cleaners days off. All the staff here at the complex are so friendly, and they make your stay fun. There are free buses during the day to Maspalomas beach, and also Playa del Ingles. At the back in the small Reception area, there is a small shop, a little larger than a broom cupboard selling drinks only, like Water, Soft drinks, one type of Lager, and Milk. The nearest Supermarket is about 10 mins down the road. To save you taking money around with you, when you go to the Bar or Restaurant they will give you a tab and add all drinks and food to that tab. You can off course pay off that tab anytime during your stay if you wish. Or you can pay as you go, its your decision. The Swimming Pool is of a good size. There is a big ledge all around the swimming pool, just under the water, where you can sit, or lay down in the water, at the edge of the pool. There is also plenty of Sun Loungers around the pool too.
I really liked the complex. If you're looking for a really relaxing time. (No children allowed here) So no screaming kids. Then I highly recommend this place.
I shall definately go back again.

I went to Magnolias as a first time naturist and hoped that the foreign climate and relative seclusion would make it easier for me to bare all in public. Although nervous at first, I quicky took to it like a duck to water and found the resort was just what I needed.

The bungalows are quite small and allow one to test the water (so-to-speak) and have a nice patio area where you can take your first steps into public nudity. From there it's just a small step to the pool, the sun beds and the bar.

When I stayed there, there were probably just over a dozen other guests from all over Europe. English therefore seemed to be the international language, so I had no problems making new friends. The staff are all friendly and speak English very well (one of them is actually English). The bar is exellent for light snacks during the day and full meals in the evening but it's only a 3 euro taxi ride into Playa Del Ingles if you wanted to go out for the evening.

Take advantage of the free bus into Playa Del Ingles and Maspalomas beach. It stops right outside the hotel and makes about 5 or 6 runs a day. There are no buses from the hotel after about 5 pm. One thing to bear in mind is that clocks in Gran Canaria are set by guess work rather than any scientific means and bus timetables are more suggestions than anything else. The return runs can be unpredictable, so aim to be at the bus stop around 20 minutes before the scheduled departure.

If I had to find fault with the resort I would say that as mentioned in another review there isn't a great deal of open space. It would be nice if there was a lawn or picnic area where one could sit with a group of friends, but for that sort of thing there's currently really only the bungalows. It's also a good 20 minute walk to the nearest shops (the mini-mart they mention on their website is only a broom-cupboard behind reception). Of the 11 TV channels, only one is English - and sadly it's Sky News.

But those faults (and I had to really think long and hard to come up with them) notwithstanding Magnolias Natura is an excellent resort which I will definitely be returning to on an annual bases. I can highly recommend it to any naturist be they first timers or hardened veterans.

My wife and I stayed at Magnolias for Christmas 2005, looking for a location more sheltered than Chaco de Palo. I went on my own in summer 2006 while she was away on family business and am about to do the same in June 2007.

The complex is quiet, ie no "entertainment" program. This suited us just fine. The pool is large by Maspalomas standards and well maintained. There is a sizable sunbathing area around the pool and all bungalows have a decent sized terrace. The bungalows are fitted out for basic self catering, but we ate out most evenings, about half in the on site bistro. Go for the breakfast option, it's very good value. The staff (with one exception) were friendly and helpful. The exception was dealt with in a discrete and efficient manner!

The only down side is that compared to the open naturist resorts elsewhere, the naturist area is small. For those who like to walk, the beach is the best option. At Christmas, this can be windswept!
