The hotel, officially downgraded to 4 star, all-inclusive, remains open UFN. Planning consent for proposed reconstruction has been refused or deferred (depending on who you talk to). Advertised 24 hour service but no room service and, although one bar open until 0600, the only food available after 2230 is peanuts..

A la carte restaurant only opened one night but buffet restaurant had good varied selection particularly if you like goat and rabbit..

I stayed there from 16 to 24 May. The hotel was at best 1/4 full. Most rooms are temporarily out of use pending possible refurbishment.

I had paid extra for a garden room after taking advise from reviews on this site. At check-in I was told garden rooms unavailable and I was being upgraded to a sea-view room, I could have got this room for 150GBP less and am attempting to obtain a refund. The room was just a somewhat faded standard room with a fine view of roofs of bars and cheap restaurants lining the seafront. Sleep was difficult because of the plastic incontinence sheets.

Grounds extensive and spectacular, and declared a conservation area (one reason for planning consent being denied.

Overall good, slightly faded hotel. Staff very friendly. In fact I got the impression more staff than guests.

Room Tip: You'll get what you are given, not what you pay for, is my experience.

Been to this hotel in November 2012. Location is excellent - easy access to the beach - staff very professional, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast and buffet dinner were also excellent. Indeed it needs renovation but it is for this reason they will be tearing it down. Would without hesitation go back once the new hotel is up and running and also hope that the same staff will be there.

Room Tip: Ocean view I would highly recommend - preferably without a Palm tree (as much as I like them) they c...

Just returned from a great 7 day holiday at the Riu Grand Palace Oasis, what a lovely hotel, stylish guests, great food, excellent service. However it was confirmed that it will close at the end of March be demolished & rebuilt. Lets hope it's re build is in keeping with an updated version & retains it;'s charm & fine service.I was delighted to be among some of the last guests & can well understand why many have returned year after year, in fact it apparently holds the highest returnee % in the Riu Group.

The staff cannot do enough to help you. They are polite and several can speak English, German, Italian and French. Even some Scandinavian languages.
We spent a lot of time sitting by the pool taking the sun. Also small shops nearby and right next to beach. Lovely gardens where you can be quiet and away from other people. English newspapers in the hotel except Sun, when available at local shop 100 metres away.
Would recommend unreservedly.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have better views. The whole hotel has very good sound insulation, so rooms are quiet...

I am amazed what a fical lot holiday makers are, and can not beleive the remarks some make about this great hotel, yes its looks 60s from the outside.

We have stayed every year for the last ten years and have nothing but praise for the staff the meals and the homely feel this hotel creates.

We have stayerd at many hotels over the years we are in our late 50s. Have we gone back to any hotel every year for ten years no only this one.

I hope nothing changes when we go back once re built, its charm and Staff are retained.

Oasis we love you dont worry about the misserys

Just back from a stay at this hotel. Had explicitly stated that it was for a special occasion, first time visitor, and requested a high room with nice view. 2 rooms booked for single occupancy. Oh dear. Had no idea 5 star hotels had single rooms - and I mean very small, 1 hand towel, 1 bath towel, 1 cheap plastic chair on the terrace and to top it all, overlooking the carpark. As we arrived late, we were too tired to cope with this and waited until the next morning to approach reception and point out what we had requested on the booking. Basically, no help whatsoever and we had to pay a further 300 euro each to be accommodated in what I would call a 3+ star room overlooking the garden, this, even though the hotel was far from full. Tired and shabby. Holes in the towels. Even though there was an 'observations' column on the booking form, my request was ignored. The answer from reception was the main booking office do not know the hotel!!! How ridiculous. I should have been informed about the level of occupation and at least would have had a choice to go elsewhere.
Breakfast buffet was good food- wise but basically a jumped up canteen with noise levels awful and proximity to other tables ridiculous. Pool area small - half of it is in the shade for most of the morning and the rest in the shade from 4.30pm. I made a hairdressing appointment and was quoted one price which magically jumped 6 euros when I went to pay. I refused to pay the increase. To top it all, as our flight was departing late on the day of our departure, I requested that we stay in our rooms - another 50 euro charged. Have these people never heard of a gesture of good will? Finally, they attempted to charge a further 15 euro for the safe which I refused to pay. What part of 5 star do these people not understand? This hotel is being completely demolished in April - not before time - and will reopen after approx. 16 months. I would think long and hard before ever dealing with this company again.

Room Tip: Just don't go there!!!!

Wonderful location with many sea front restaurants close by. Everything from small to larger restaurants with varying degree of sophistication. In other words, anyone can find a restaurant or bar they can enjoy.
On the plus side, the Oasis is reasonably well appointed. The staff are delightful. The restaurants’ food is pretty good. The Hotel is due to be refurbished in the Spring 2013 and we would be very interested to see how it turns out in 2014.
We were disappointed that the Krystal restaurant was only open 2 or 3 nights during our stay as we enjoyed the food there.
The pool was overcrowded and we eventually opted for the gardens where less conflict could occur with neighbouring sunbeds!
The refurbishment will hopefully address the room’s lack of power points. The bath was poorly lighted.
On the whole we had a pleasant stay and would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms with sea views are closer to the main reception but the vista is spoilt by one of the rest...
