Just returned this morning from a 14 day stay at Turbo Club and, having read the negative reviews before we went, we had doubts about the place.
We should never have worried!
Working on the assumption that you tend to get what you pay for, there is no way we could fault the food or the service.
Leo and Gilbert are brilliant and work very hard to accommodate the guests wherever possible. In fact the Hotel staff in general do.
Yes, on occasion, some may have not been over cheerful, but we all have off days and, to be honest, the way some of the guests carry on, I am not surprised!
The room we had was cleaned every other day and the hotel generally was spick and span.
The pool was a bit cold, but it is January and, contrary to some reviews, was heated throughout the day.
The real downside is that the whole place is becoming a bit dilapidated and in need of some serious TLC.
For instance, the plastic drain covers around the pool have become brittle and dangerous, my foot went through one causing me to fall over and could have resulted in a nasty injury or break ( I was sober - honest!)
The hotel is some way from the beach, but you get a free ticket for the bus to get there if you wish.
It is only a 5 - 10 minute walk from holiday world where you can get busses to anywhere you like and there is a taxi rank about 3 minutes walk away, with a very helpful guy on hand to assist you.
The hotel reception staff are brilliant and will help you with any booking or advice you need.
The food variety is reasonable if sometimes a little strange. There was always plenty to eat, although the deserts were very boring.
Sangria good, beer like gnats pee, coffee liquer to die for!
One big downside is that the beds are the most uncomfortable I have ever had to endure, please sort it turbo club!
Away from the hotel we went on trips;
Island tour - good
Landrover safari - excellent
Whale and Dolphin trip - excellent
Yellow Submarine - Amazing
Sioux City - Brilliant, funny, good value and fun!
Horse riding - wonderful.
Karting - was absolute rubbish for my 13 year old son who races over here, but was only allowed on a restricted kart with a top speed slower than the average mobility scooter!
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!! over 50 Eros including taxis and we walked out halfway through as it was so rubbish and he was not enjoying it!
All in all we had a damn good time and would happily return to Turbo Club - especially if they replaced the beds and adjusted the menu so it made a bit more sense.
