Having just spent a last minute booking for 5 nights here, bookeed sunday lunchtime flew out monday morning, didn't know what to expect but what a surprise love;y accomadation with sunloungers on the terrace and comfy beds, clean bungalows. Staff very very friendly and helpful, we went all inclusive and got everything we wanted at all meal times from steak to pealla, my mother who is in a wheelchair found the room easily adaptable with the walk in showers to the space of the bungalow well laid out. Swimming pools were clean and 1 was heated and plenty sun loungers which were comfortable. The free bus services to both beaches is a plus and once again my mother still able to use them with help from the drivers on and off, we also walked into one of the beaches about an hour away leisurly walk.

We stayed here the last week in March just before the school holidays and thought it was excellent. The bungalows are small but very nicely done out and immaculately clean (cleaned every day). What we wanted was a quiet and peaceful week and that's what we got. The bungalows are set in lovely gardens with parrots flying around (possibly in the height of summer if they were full it wouldn't be as quiet) and there are a nice couple of pools, tennis courts etc. We stayed all inclusive and that was very relaxing; buffet style and sit where you want. Special mention for the staff also who seemed very hard working and were always very pleasant and helpful. The location definitely isn't an issue as there was a free shuttle to the lighthouse/beach and another one to the centre of Playa de Ingles - but even a taxi back from playa in the small hours was only 4 euros 80. Couldn't fault any of it really and we would go back.

Room Tip: we had a room on the end of the path which was great because it meant no one walked past your patio...

We got this place all inclusive and pretty last minute. It was very cheap, and had only one star. We didn't expect much!

But it was a real surprise. It was very clean - everything changed more or less every day, and mopped. It was really well laid out - you had a lot of privacy. The bungalows (1 x bedroom, 1 x kitchen diner, 1 x bathroom) were really lovely. It was very quiet. The staff were really friendly and helpful (they didn't have to be - we were all inclusive). The beds were great - really comfy, felt like new. Water pressure for shower fantastic. The drink seemed of high enough quality - people warned us it would be watered down, but the beer and wine were fine. We played tennis - there was also ping pong and pool. The evening entertainment was fun enough. And if you want more, Playa del Ingles was only €3.80 away in a taxi. There was a reasonable free bus service between hotel, beaches and PdI. However, it was so nice and relaxing, we spent most of the time just lounging on our private terrace, or on the lawns.

Food on Gran Can is pretty bad for the most part - and the food here was better than eating out. The food for breakfast and dinner was ok - irritatingly, though, they put tiny bits of flavourless meat into all the vegetables (spinach, cauliflower cheese) and other dishes you'd think would be veggie (Spanish omlette). Some of the meals were good - mussels, squid, paella etc - these things aren't cheap. The lunches were basic burger and chips-type fare - salads were available. So my only suggestion for improvement would be: put meat in the meat dishes...but not in the vegetable dishes!

We got it all inclusive, which cost us £110 per person for the week. We totally think that's worth it - eating out in Maspalomas/Playa isn't a pleasant experience. It's lots of trecking about for naff food. This was really relaxing. But it you were buying at this hotel, it was €6 for breakfast and €12 for dinner (no wine).

PS Club Rio Maspalomas 1 is identical, on the same site, and with the same facilities!!

Room Tip: The bungalows are laid out around two U shapes, one U inside the other. YOu want the inner U, lookin...

This hotel is for those who dos not crave any luxury , but want a nice and clean apartment inside a well kept garden. The location is a litle bit to far from the beach but since the hotel offers free shuttel service this is not a problem.

The hotel advertises that they have heated pools, but if so they must have forgotten to turn it on when we where there.

We had an all incl. stay and the food was ok, but not more, and the lunch meny in the poolbar was to small and pretty boring.

Apart from that the staff is very serviceminded and smiles.

The aparments are small but family freindly, we stayed with 2 adults and 2 kids and it was a very nice stay with the garden outside and private sunbeds in the terrace.

All in all this is an affordable and nice small / medium resort with all you need for a weeks stay, it is well kept and looks like they maintain it all the time.

THE ONLY REALLY BAD THING IS THAT THE WALLS IN THE APARTMENT ARE SO THIN YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING THEY ARE SAYING NEXT DOOR. But if you as I fall a sleep easily and dont mnd a litle bit of background noice this is no problem.

After looking for reviews on trip advisor for our holiday in march 2012, we came across the "2 star" club rio apartments, after reading the comments that this was more like 4 star than 2 star we took the risk and booked it. We were not dissapointed! This place is far above a 2 star, the apartments are big enough for a small family or couple, with our room comprising of a double bed and single....with the option of using the living room as a further bed. They were cleaned everyday...and didnt see 1 bug in my entire stay!

We went half board, so we had buffet breakfast and buffet dinner. Although some ppl might be slightly put off that the food is more catered to the german/dutch/spanish guests, this was actually a positive thing imo as it gave me a chance to try some really nice food i wouldnt normally have eaten...But dont worry they still have bacon and eggs for breakfast and there is always a bowl of chips in the evening ;).

The facilities were great, 3 swimming pools, 1 for kids and 2 for adults. We never had a problem gettin a sun lounger at any time of the day and the pool was mostly empty throughout the day aswel. ( we went at the end of march, so maybe in the height of july/august) this might not be the case). They have 2 tennis courts...one of which was being repaired during our week there....so ppl that arrive in the next few weeks will benefit from that.

The staff are friendly and helpful...always willing to offer advice or book taxis to get you to the nearby shopping center/beach. There is also a free bus shuttle service that takes you to the main places...running throughout the day...will also bring you back aswel. The hotels is set out in lovely grounds, with flowers and palm trees all over the place. The temperature was just right...22 in the mornings, reaching 28 to low 30's by mid day...just bareable so it doesnt feel like your hiding from the sun after a couple of days!

All in all was a very nice place to stay and would go back again!

we stayed here in feb 2010, it was a great family place and the traditional style self catering casa were adequit and clean. what is special here is the sense of community you get, each casa has its own little garden so you get to meet your neighbours. Lots of german.dutch and english. Very civilized no larger-lout English types which i was pleased about!! Lol , im english but try to avoid them when i go away as they can be loud and annoying! Pool was clean and gardens immaculate, parrots flying around the and aloe plants......heaven. Food is fresh and great and a good price. the beach is close, the holiday world, palmitos park and trips to Fataga on the bus from maspalomas faro.

I have stayed in Club Rio Maspalomas II with my parents on our little trip to Canary Islands for 1 week. We decided to go half-board and for price of just over £20 pp/n my expectations were rather modest. We have been allocated in of the bungalow’s which was clean & spacious enough for 3 people. Wi-fi is available although not free. You can also use the internet at one of the computers in the reception however it is quite pricey. House keeping was doing a good job and I really cannot complain. The breakfast & dinners were rather basic but varied enough. Not much of a Canarian cuisine, but then again, with most of the guest being older couples from Europe I suppose it was a safe bet. There is a daily bus taking guests to the beach, which we didn’t have chance to use as we hired a car (there’s always plenty of space to park) When arriving to the hotel for the first time we were struggling a bit to find a place even with our sat nav so I would suggest to check where the place is exactly on the map before going. Club Rio Maspalomas II is a perfect place for middle aged/older couples or families but possibly not so great for young travellers.
