“DISGUSTING, ROTTON, DIRTY!!!”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Just home after staying at the Capri Bungolows for 1 weeks holiday.
Upon ariving at the hotel the receptionist was very rude, dismisful and very unhelpful, she never even gave us directions on where our room was.
When we finally found our bungalow we were greeted by 5 cockroaches in the living area.
I understand I got a cheap holiday for a week and I knew I wasn't going to a five star luxury hotel and I don't care about dated decor etc... But I do care about general clenliness... The whole bungalow was thilthy, floors were covered in dirt/sand/hair. The bathroom looked as though it had never been cleaned since the last occupiers had left, sink was covered in toothpaste, there was a line of scum and dirt in the bath, and the toilet seat was covered in urine!!! (DISGUSTING) I told the reception about this and nothing got done, I had to go and buy bleach and clean the place myself.
Even the pool area wasn't clean, bins were never emptied, the place was generally unkept. We went to the beach every day just to avoid this place.
We never tried the on-site resturant, all I can say if there were cocroaches in the bungalows I dread to think what's in the restraunts' kitchen.
I'm never one to complain or give anywhere a bad reveiw but this place is nothing more than VILE. Anyone who says any different clearly has no cleanliness standards. I go to Maspalomas/Playa del Ingles twice a year and this is the worst place iv visited!
I would 100% never reccomend anyone to stay at the Capri Bungalows and if anyone has booked I would change your hotel. ROTTON!
Thanx :)

Stayed at Capri second week in October '12. It cost 160 euro for the week and I thought quite good value for that money. Rooms are dated and a bit tired, not very good for self catering as only two ring cooker. Kettle, toaster, coffee maker and t.v. cost extra money; needless to say we did without and used a saucepan to boil water!

Its a bit of a distance from the beaches, although there is a courtesy bus that runs three times daily to Maspalomas. Bus to Playa del Ingles and Puerto Mogan cheap and regular.

Noise from the road was a bit disturbing, but only cos I'm not used to noise at night, it didn't bother my friend.

Pool was nearly always empty, with plenty of sunbeds. The restaurant was good value and with good food. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Beds were not changed during the weeks stay, towels were changed mid week. No cleaning done but bins changed twice.

It would have been nice to have a bit more night-life closer to the complex. There is a shopping centre near 'Faro 2' which has several restaurants at night; the Chinese restaurant was particularly good! Also bowling alley and small funfair nearby, would suit families.

Stayed for one week this October in a two storey bungalow! Budget accomodation at a budget price. Stairs up to bathroom and bedroom not suitable for very old or infirm. Clean towels, but not sheets, half way through our stay and cleaning every other day. We boiled water in a saucepan rather than hire a kettle but did `hire` the safe fixed in the bedroom. Reception did not have any money for exchange and the pay-for WiFi was `between providers`.
We enjoyed the pool area, which had lots of sun beds, because you could swim lengths on your own. (or was the water cooler than the stand and chatter `swimmers` prefer).
We also took advantage of the courtesy bus shared with other hotels to get to Maspalomas beach. Our stay coincided with low tide around lunchtime which made getting in the sea difficult in places due to exposed rocks. The traffic (walkers) along the beach to Playa Des Ingles and back was incredible and provided a good opportunity for an all round tan.
We only had one meal in the restaurant, when we were waiting for the airport transfer, which was very good and at similar prices to neighbouring eateries. Which is a problem at this property because walking to the nightlife of Playa requires going in the opposite direction to find a crossing for the dual carriageway outside.

Room Tip: Room A06 is away from the bar and away from the main road. It also has a partial view of the pool bu...

Just got back after spending a fantastic week at the Capri Bungalows, we were really worried after reading other reviews, nearly changed our holiday, so glad we didnt!!. We didnt pay much at all, so when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised about the friendly greeting we received, we then got to our apartments, next door to each other as requested , ok some of the furniture was a little old but all really clean and beds comfortable. We were hungry so went to the restaurant for something to eat , was a fantastic meal, after eating there once we coundnt keep away really fantastic tasty food so clean to, and the staff , well you couldnt get better. Andy(Carlos, our little joke) was a brilliant chief and host, we stayed in a 5* plus hotel earlier this year and I can honestly say I enjoyed this holiday just as much,I cant understand why its only 1*, but glad it is if thats why its so cheap! will be back next year taking all my family too.
The weather was very nice from 25 to 34 brought jackets for evenings but didnt need them, the rooms did get a bit hot at night, you could hire a fan but we didnt.
We took a travel kettle with us as you do have to pay to rent one, so was cheaper to buy on on ebay for a couple of pounds before we went.
Please dont listen to the bad reviews, its lovely here, we meet many other people staying here they all said the same as we did everyone loved it! have fun x

Room Tip: Take a kettle, go to the restaurant , try bbq chicken breast, also best omelets, and prawn cocktails...

We've just returned from Capri, and honestly, having paid £113 per week, we couldn't ask for more. This is a budget accommodation, it's no better or worse then any other budget self catering accommodation anywhere else in the world. The apartments were small but convenient and clean. The beds were very comfortable. We haven't seen any cockroaches the other reviewers were talking about; only one particularly persistent bug tried to enter the apartment on a few occasions, but we eventually persuaded it to go away with a little help of "Daily Express'. The pool was great. We had a few meals in the restaurant, it was ok (try Canarian potatoes with salsa garlic sauce, yum). We wouldn't mind staying there again. Mind you, this was October, so it wasn't very busy. Best time to visit I reckon, if you want to chill out.

Recommendation: hire a car; but check a few companies. You can get one for as cheap as 70 quid for a week, while some companies will charge you 30 quid a day. You won't have to rely on courtesy buses to the beach; also there is so much to see on the island. I wouldn't recommend walking to Maspalomas (quite a distance), particularly in the heat of the day.

Room Tip: There is a fairy busy road behind the last row of bungalows, if you have a chance ask for a bungalow...

Did not expect too much from our visit to the Capri as it was a budget option, and I always say you get what you pay for. However, not on this occassion. Rooms were basic, which again was fine, few cockroaches and lots of ants. To be expected so no qualms with that. But, the downsides were much worse. Maid service was hit and miss. We had 5 apartments between our group, and the maids just seem to flip a coin for which one to clean and change towels in. Bring your own towels! When I say cleaning, I do of course mean, emptying the bins and stacking the white chairs! Security is more or less non existent at the complex. The man who is there is rude and just sits at the entrance allowing anyone in without question, I know this as we had people visit us late at night. One of our group awoke to find an intruder in the room and none of the staff wanted to know when we went to them. The reception staff have absolutely no English, are rude and obnoxious. The complex can be dark at night with lots of little steps which makes it quite dangerous. The bedroom windows have no bars so you can not leave them open at night. The pool is clean and there are lots of sun beds, however at the weekend, a lot of local Spaniards congregate here, so don't expect a quiet time at the pool. The bar and restaurant open whenever it suits the owners and only then. Can't believe we stayed the full two weeks booked here, but as there was a group of us, we stuck it out. As we had four nights remaining on our holiday on our own, we left and went to a hotel much closer to town. Tend to stay away from central locations, but could not stick this complex any longer. Will we go back??? Absolutely not. The cockroaches are welcome to the place, and the staff will keep them company, as that is the extent of their personalities. ( I must say, one member of staff was nice and he was the slim maintenance man who was very pleasant.) Stay away all ye would be budget travellers!!!!!!

Room Tip: To choose a good room, book somewhere else!

Very basic, but this is what we expected, just somewhere to sleep at night, so not a huge problem to us.
Not well equiped for self-catering, few cockroaches, but shower and loo worked, so that was a good added bonus.
We had bungalow by swimming pool, and there was constant noise from children, as we had no children with us it was a bit of a pain, another couple we meet who were in bungalows behind us said they had constant noise at night, so it seems you cannot win.
The worse problem for us, and no one seemed to mention it in other reviews, was its very far out from any life and beaches, yes there is an amusement park and bowling alley close, ok for one nights entertainment and kids, the few bars were dead. Yes you can get the free bus to the beach but last one back is 4.30 in afternoon. Taxis are cheap but it all adds up if you want to go out and back twice a day. Obviously you can hire car, but that restricts a drink in the evening.
We hired push-bikes for the week at 6 euros a day, cycled everywhere, it was flat cycling to beach etc so no effort involved, very enjoyable.
Overall, if you want a basic cheap hotel and stay by pool all day, its ok, if you want anything else do not stay there.
A visit to puerto de mogan is a must, very pretty, you can get there by bus, along scary mountain road.

Room Tip: only stay by pool if you have children with you
