“Very enjoyable week in the sun!”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

After reading some reviews before leaving, arrived with an open mind. For the amount of money we paid for our holiday i think it was great. Yes the staff were rushed off their feet at times and could come across as rude but two new staff have started now and they all seemed to be a bit more relaxed. Food we all enjoyed, could have been a bit hotter though but did'nt cause an issue with us. The pastries for breakfast were gorgeous as were the profiteroles for lunch and dinner and can definitely tell i ate too many!!! Beds were'nt changed at all, just made up every day but then how many times do you change your bed at home in one week! Always loads of sunbeds available had no trouble finding somewhere. Coffee for breakfast was'nt the best but got used to it by the end of the week. Free bus from the hotel goes into maspalomas and playa del ingles every day and you get the timetable when you check-in. We walked into maspalomas a couple of times took about 35 mins. Avoid The 19th hole restaurant and bar in the strip in maspalomas they are a rip off!!!!! served us a smirnoff vodka and a malibu out of the bottles making a big show, nearly filled the glass not much room left for coke. When we went to drink it we could'nt even taste the alcohol! charged us 19euro 80 for 1vodka coke, 1 malibu coke, and large and small beer. Good taxi service there only 3-4 euro back to hotel. we had a meal in bamboo garden chinese which was nice. Water is available freely from the bar if you just ask for it. weather was hot, afternoons tended to cloud over a bit but did'nt last long. Entertainment was not the best. The singer destroyed every song he sang except for the spanish ones which i think he should stick to! Peaceful holiday to say the least we were almost horizotal coming home. We met a nice scottish gentleman and his son hope they had a safe journey back home as they had a 10 hour delay getting there. would definitely go back if looking for a cheap week in the sun and if you are checking out as we did at 4am you can book a picnic bag by 9pm the previous evening which contained 2 sandwiches a banana, orange and a bottle of water as you will be missing breakfast but you don't get told about it by the hotel we just found out by chance.

Room Tip: Inner circle bungalows around the pool and bar are best location.

Arrived very late last night and already considering moving to another hotel.

When we arrived the hotel reception was closed with a 'back in 5 minutes' sign on the door. To be fair the guy was back in that time and he had had some food prepared for us which was very thoughtful and which we thanked him for. He was very polite and showed us to our room. A good start, however.....

The room was quite disappointing - quality of finishes (typical workmanship standards for this region), dreary lighting and poor facilities eg. no tea and coffee and an empty fridge - they don't allow cups in the room but they will give you a kettle if you ask for one! Also some curious stains on the settee which we have covered with a throw. The towels and sheets have all seen better days.

Pool is a nice area and at this time of year I suspect it is not at maximum occupancy so there are plenty of sun loungers but what 4 star hotel doesn't provide towels as there doesn't appear to be anywhere around the pool to take them from. Well rest assured this 4 star hotel does provide pool towels, they are available from the reception for a €10 per towel deposit. Mmmmmmh probably better to buy our own as they are similar to the ones in the room.

Having now seen and tasted the food for ourselves, we would agree with many comments that have been posted. Its simply not up to standard for a hotel of this category. The staff are few and appear to be really rushed off their feet but I think that is down to poor organisation as we've been to many hotels with similar numbers of staff but usually get our drinks with our food.

It's now time to get ready for dinner and we are not looking forward to it at all going on our experience of earlier in the day and reading one review that said 'it was just leftover lunchtime food served in a different way'. We shall see!

On the plus side my wife says the hair dryer is very good sadly its something I don't need. It is quiet which is something looked for as we just wanted to relax and the concept of semi detached bungalows with their own small patio and garden is very appealing albeit Stepford wivesish.

Not enough staff to serve you, the food was canteen standard and you are most likely to be finished eating before you get a drink. The guests would reserve the sun beds in the middle of the night so there was no chance of a sun bed with a mattress! It was only on our last couple of days the hotel enforced the no bed reserving policy. No entertainment which was a shame because there was a nice outdoor seating area if there was a decent level of service so we didn't have to queue for 10 minutes for a drink it would have been ok. I think they are a victim of the recession and they are trying to give you less for more!

As I type this we are sitting at the hotel awaiting our pick-up :(
We booked this holiday in January as we got married at the end of September. Back in January we did read some mixed reviews, but we can honestly say that we have had a fantastic holiday here! The bungalows, grounds and general condition of the surroudings are beautiful. The food is excellent, always something for everyone and the waiting staff are very pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is situated near to Maspalomas and Playa Di Ingles, which is only about 4 euros in a taxi, which we thought was quite cheap.
When we arrived at the beginning of October it felt as though we had the whole place to ourselves, it was so chilled out and easy to get a sun lounger, as I type this it has got a bit busier, but still no problem getting a lounger!
The weather has been great and we have met some lovely people here.
In my personal opinion I think the hotel is more suited to couples of any age or those seeking a relaxed break. I am not sure if its the time of year, but there was not much entertaintment, but it did not bother us as we sat around chatting or went into Maspalomas. Our tour provider told us that it wasnt suitable for children and I agree, unless you come as a family and the children can entertain each other.
On the whole we have had an amazing time here, we will definately be returning here again in the future and will recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer to the pool or bar area.

Just spent 1 week, having booked 48 hours before. We needed a relaxing break and found it at this hotel, the way the 'bugalows' are set out means that you have privacy and hear nothing (with the result we slept very well and very late, could have done with better pillows though).
Enjoyed the food, plenty of choice, the staff kept it freshly 'topped up' and you could have meat and fish freshly cooked (chefs very friendly but keen to cook everything for a long time), it would be a good idea for chef to label dishes as some were ignored because didn't know what they contained. Serving staff worked very hard and were friendly. there was no problem with sunbeds, and apart from 1 day when staff played rap music and refused to turn it down, it was peaceful. only had entertainment 2 evenings but if you want a nightlife you would go to the resorts. Discovered some 'cut throughs' to the main road and the Botanical Gardens (very small but free and worth a visit) and visited Maspalomas and Ingles on the free bus.
So lots of positives, only negatives hard pillows and some loud music but woudl recommend hotel for a chill out holiday

We stayed at the Jardin Dorado Bungalows Sept 2012. Absolutly amazing holidays :) The hotel is situated within the golf region of maspasmilomas but is literally 30 mins walk from playa di ingles and maspasmilomas town centres. A taxi to both towns are 2 euros so it doesnt break the bank to get a taxi which receotion kindly book for u free.
The bungalows were clean, tidy and well maintained. Fresh towles and the rooms were cleamed every day. Food was fantastic, pizzas, fries, steaks, pork chops, spagetti, pasta, salad, soups, show cooking and deserts. Both fussy easters and enjoyed the food well presented and the staff cant do enough for you. All inclusive drinks were fantastic there was a huge variety from pops- cole, lemonadem fanta, fresh juices etc. Alcohol - lager, beer, baileys, vodka, whiskey, cocktails the list goes on. We are booking back up to go next year as it was worth every penny :). Staff are lovely and always willimg to help you. BBQ is on a Saturday night with entertainment on the Saturday only. The entertainment was the only thing that let the hotel down as it was only on the weekend. But despite this we had a fantastic time, met lovely people and genuinly had the best holiday ever. Perfect destination and so so pretty, clean and well maintained.

Room Tip: All rooms are fantastic anyway
