“Cheap and cheerful apartments .... bring your own Towels”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We booked a really cheap week at the vista oasis .. Due to the low price and some reviews I'd read we were a bit apprehensive about what lay ahead..I have to say we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the actual apartment. Having come through one of the most dreary entrances to any apartments we've ever stayed in ,we were dealt with quickly and efficiently by the reception staff.. We booked the safe which was 10 euro for the week and were told to pay for it next day ,which was very reasonable , the said safe was a bit temperamental and you really need to check its actually locked as sometimes the electronic screen came up closed but was actually still open ! So be careful ? We had a one bedroom appt ,bright functional ,two ring hob and full size fridgev. The great thing about the apartment was a really big tiled patio with table two chairs and two recliners ,we got the sun till about 2 pm in the day ( number 57 ) we had a fabulous view over the sea and the dunes.) ,some of the lower numbers get the sun all day. Nice pool area very clean lots of beds. My one issue was the towels ,shabby orange and green ones , we arrived on tues and on sat I had to ask the cleaning lady for new ones , she said they are normally changed every four days . We had a showe over bath and take my advice be very careful getting in! as the surface is extremely slippy, i have a fine bruise to show from my first day having slipped getting in use the handle to hold on to ! The complex is up a steep hill but free bus to beach 9.30 11.30 12.30 ,back 2.30 3.30 4.30.. Nice bar/restaurant across the road at vista bonita and lovely Chinese at the top of the hill . will deff come back and can afford to check in a bag this time, the price is so cheap ,so can bring my own towels !!

Room Tip: Ask for pool view n the lower numbers

Well I had read the reviews before going so was uncertain what to expect. We found a clean comfortable appartment for 4 , there were 2 of us , so had expected a studio, well equipped for our needs, Yes we met a few cockroaches, but they were quickly dispatched, the mattress protector was hot to sleep on, so I took it off. The pool areas were lovely, very quiet .
The Spa shop nearby made catering easy.

The maids were friendly, helpful, sheets and towels were changed. Reception staff did not ooze charm, but were helpful. The bus to the beach runs 3 times each morning and afternoon.

We had a good holiday at a cheap place, and enjoyed the weather and the island.

we have just returned from the Visa Oasis Apartments - staying 10days. on arrival there had been a mix up with our uk travel arrangements and the hotel as we were a party of 4 and had booked 2 bungalows in uk. but only 1 bungalow with 2 rooms, we had to share for 2 nights until another bungalow was vacant. Paco the manager was EXCELLENT he was so apologetic and said it was his fault and gave us a very good compensation package which was so kind of him. After that we had a good time, the bungalows are clean and basic but had all we needed, a comfortable bed, fridge, safe and lots of towels and t.v. with bbc as well, (note there is an adult chanel on all the time, very explicit so if you have kids you can get it removed at reception) sky and sky sports. the water was hot but not a lot so we had to give the boiler an hour between showers. The maids cleaned 7 days and were ok (some better than others) , but the beds weren't changed the 8 days we were in them. the meals were good, not much choice and were at times a little cold, we were' A'I and had plenty to eat as we could go up as many times as we wanted.the bar is a little disappointing as they have limited drinks available only local ones, wine and beer etc so no bailey's tia maria or similar only whisky vodka or gin.but we managed! Breakfast was disappointing as it was the same each day, cerial bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages and of course the very slow toasters!! but the weather made up for it 75o and 13 hours of sunshine. the outside was lovely plenty of sunbeds eventhough they were full the whole time we were there.it is a good 45 minutes walk to the beach but there is a free bus each day with 3 trips in the morning and 3 return in the afternoon, the good thing is that the venue is the first call and there is plenty of room, later they wouldn't pick up as you have to be seated. we hired a car so we were ok. the pool is freezing and could do with having part of it heated. The terrace and gardens were ok and had table chairs and 2 loungers so we could sit comfortably if we didn't want to be by the pool. We had no problems with kids as others have written about, all adults whilst we were there, but only one evening entertainment . so it you want a quiet holiday with reasonable accommodation and plenty of food although tedious after a time a wonderful manager who is always around to help you when ever he can try the vista oasis, we paid a good price to get away from cold uk to sunny gran canaria and that is what we had hoped for.overal really great value for money.

Room Tip: ask for rooms 62-94 as they are on the south side and get sun from 8am - 6.30pm and have the best...

all very good.
sin that to go to sea serves a means of transport. We had rented a car, but I know that there was a free bus to the sea, 3 km away.
The apartments of good quality and size. Cleaning 2 or 3 times a week and ascigamani clean.
The exterior of the wonderful pool, the bar is always open 24 hours and the entrance with private parking.

I would say good value for money.
I do not know the restaurant because we always ate out. But I highly recommend this hotel

When we arrived the room we were given was clean and tidy but when opened the patio doors couldnt have been more disapointed. So we asked for room to be changed and it was, we were in no15 great, but in the evenings somtimes up till 1am there was kids running around screaming and shouting in spanish even ring the door bells then running away. This was the only thing i can say was uninjoyable. The staff were great and the pool area spotless.

Room Tip: Stay away ground floor no 15 great.

Ok first things first. I am a chef and I have quite high standards when it comes to the whole dining experience. The food here was not great, it wasn't shocking but it wasn't great.

Breakfast. Your normal run of the mill fair here, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit, breads etc. Boiled and scrambled eggs. There were some sausages but hey looked like little chipolatas that you have with Turkey at Christmas. The bacon was just gammon that looked as if it was sliced and then chucked in the deep fat fryer to give it a crispy effect.

Lunch. I couldn't understand why some days you were asked to order from the bar menu and some days they put a buffet out. On the days you were asked to order form the bar menu, it was great. Nicely cooked fresh burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, pan fried fish, which was really nice. All with either fries or a choice of potato AND a fresh salad. However on buffet days it was over cooked pasta bake, dried out burgers, sausages, turkey shapes, a few salad items like cut tomatoes, sliced onions, lettuce leaf and some olives.

Dinner. I ate dinner once, the buffet food was over cooked, not very hot and the selection was poor. It certainly did not appeal to the eye, no garnish whatsoever. There are some great little places to eat in Maspalomas and Meleronas, which me and my son went to every night.

We were never offered any snack during the day at all. The beer was okay, not what I would choose to drink, but when it's free then I suppose you just crack on with it. The red wine was not good though and the white was not much better. The house spirits were rough to say the least!

There were 2 guys running the bar, one did days, the other nights but they did swap shifts. The younger guy was great, played music, attended the bar with a smile and came round regularly to clear up. The older guy was a right surly so and so! He closed the bar at 11.00pm on the dot everytime he was on duty, whereas the younger guy would give you an extra 30 mins to an hour if you were having a good time.

Rooms. Basic and clean, although I did find a massive cockroach in the fridge when I opened it for the first time. Once I chased that out it was okay. I had a 1 bed apartment to myself and my son was in a studio next door. My bathroom was great with both a bath and shower. There was a huge mirror in the bathroom too and the tiled floor was in good condition. The beds are a bit small width ways but are comfortable. There is no air con in the rooms which wasn't a problem in October but I suspect it would be in June/July/August. You can hire a fan at reception though. I couldn't figure out how to work the TV and there were no instructions on how to do so. The living are was not very comfortable but the patio area outside was great to sit out on with a cold beer in the evenings.

Facilities. The pool is a tad cold but there are plenty of sun loungers and tables to put your drinks on. There is a little launderette too which is good and cheap. The facilities are what you would expect at 3* resort. The pool tables are a bit wonky too!

As I said, you get what you pay for. If you aren't fussy about your food, which I am then this is not a bad little place, there is a regular bus service to the beach and if you hire a car as I did then there is ample parking spaces.
