Bungalows Vista Oasis Apartments
Ranked #83 of 216 Hotels in Maspalomas
Reviewed September 14, 2011

I have literally walked in from this holiday i spent ten days in Vista Oasis 4th September-14th September, firstly I like to judge a place before i write a review, you do get what you pay for i did ask for a ground floor apartment but quickly discovered that this was a mistake I chose dates which in retrespect i shouldn't have as the Spanish children visiting the hotel have not gone back to their schools yet, hence they stayed on the sunbeds outside my apartment until 2am every night and the pool man cleaned around at 7am despite complaining it got me nowwhere, the food was awful please please go self catering. Breakfast consisted of beans, scrambled egg, toast, and the usual continental breakfast (the cereal was put out at 9pm every night ready for the morning uncovered so allowing the flies to have a feast) Evening meal consisted of either potato croquettes, small potato in batter, beefburgers with onions, pork or fish in batter and every night the vegetable on the menu were sprouts. Desert was icecream or rice pudding. I will leave you to make up your own mind on the food. The hotel is on a hill not good for walking if infirm or elderly, Taxi's cost up to 5 Euro a journey nearest large complex was in Playa D'e Ingles the bars and restaurants can be found at the Yumbo centre. A free bus service operated from the hotel which droped you off by a lovely nature reserve next to the beach the water can be choppy at times and dirty until you go out of your depth, sunbeds cost 2.50 euro each and Somberero the same price, you can catch the 01 bus to Peurto Rico which has a small beach with a settled sea at the cost of 6 Euro for both. A trip to the market in Peurto Mogan again on the 01 bus is a must and the beach is beautiful. At the Vista for a Euro for 15 minutes you can use the internet for the @ sign press alt then the number 2, you can hire a TV for the week 10.50 Euro and 5 euro deposit for remote control only has sky sports 1, sky 1, CNN, Channel 5. No air con, can hire a fan for 10 euro's for a week.Entertainment consisted of a bird show which i never saw (think they flew away) bingo 5 euro a game with naff items to win, karioke which again was naff. The Vista had no entertainment to speak of, what was lovely was a walk into Maspolomas up to the lighthouse and you can walk along the beach to playa de ingles which takes about one and half hours. Weather was fantastic, minimum during the day 33 degrees even at night it never went below 23 degrees, anything else i have not mentioned please feel free to get in touch as i say like to give a overall view, we are all different and have different standards and opinions, and just giving you the facts.

Room Tip: Do not ask for a poolside view on ground floor.

Everyone on here put this place down. We arrived late on friday night, the place is reasonal size (2 people), lovely view, we went self catering. Heard by lot people that the food is not great.

Only negative on the hotel is there is no air con.

Would stay again in the future

Room Tip: Ask for sea view and not pool view as sea view is alot nicer and out of the way

After reading the poor reviews at Vista Oasis I thought I would write about our experience there. My family and I have just returned from our 2nd visit to these bungalows. I must say you do get what you pay for, it is a bit out the way but as we enjoy walking it suits us perfectly. The bungalows themselves are basic but again it is what you pay for and they were cleaned 5 days out of 7. If you leave your sheets/towels in a pile the cleaning ladies will most definately change them for you. We have been on Self Catering basis on both occasions so can't comment on the food. We did take a previous comment on board tho: Hold your bread over a heated cooker ring too make toast, works a treat!* The pool is great with many sunloungers for all. We where in room 101 on the 1st visit and room 99 on the 2nd, these are big bungalows with huge balconies and sunloungers. The Vista Oasis is a 5min taxi ride from Masapalomas beach which is absolutely gorgeous. There is a big theme park only a 10 minute walk away (Holiday World) which the kids enjoyed thoroughly. Aqualand is a 10min taxi ride away (5 euros) and again a great day for families. Would we return again? Yes we will....

Room Tip: Book a bungalow not a Studio

We arrived on the 30th June for 14 nites, on arriving we were stuck in room 123, very small balcony with a view off a fence , asked for a room change and i was told that the room would have to be checked even tho we had only put our cases in .got our room change after this , also please be AWARE when you book in your handed a safe key ,YOU ARE NOT TOLD IT COST 10 EURO A WEEK !!!, i had read reviews on this so was ready , and handed it back !!,
tv also costs 10.50 a week , does have a movie channel if you like watchin telly thro fuzzy, and trust me the telly is ur best friend on this holiday as there is NO ENTERTAINMENT , unless u consider a parrot show and a reptile show entertainment.....
Food , undercooked cheeseburgers !! we were half board and when the locals where at the hotel the food was ok, u even got sauces for ur icecream but when the locals left forget it !!! breakfast would put u into a depression !!
Pool .....dirty , stay away from the edges as the white grout is now black and flakin off , manager had people in cleaning it and walked round daily looking at it , only because of the complaints , only seen it cleaned once the whole time ,also if all the sunbeds are taken there are spare but there filthy !!!
room , no air con ! surprised as they like to charge u , prepare to lose a stone in weight , with the heat ! you get a mop and brush , our beddin wasnt changed at all the 2 wks we were there , even tho we told the cleaner , we ended up washing them in the bath ourselfs !! cockroaches YES !! and BIG....
and pls b careful in the supermarkets in the yumbo centre only for a kind spanish man i kept my bag and holiday money !!!
also use the spar up the road more choice, as the staff seem to lose there eye sight when it comes to seein the price and check ur change as the MANAGER short changed us ,
very nice bar staff and one lovely receptionist , oh and bar shuts at 11pm unless the locals and there kids are there,
place is more like a retirement home , and thats a insult to a retirement home!!
you also have to get taxis as your well away for anything , do visit melonars , and the market in maspolmas wed and sat 9am 1pm , make sure ya haggle ,
if you do go , go self catering and stay a week , use the place as a base , take plenty of money for taxis and trips , it seemed to us that alot of locals must have time shares there and visit with there families and there friends , even seen them arrivin with shoppin trolleys with there tvs in them !!
shame i had to rite this review as the bar staff the 2 off them work hard and are so pleasent , but as i said do not waste your money

Room Tip: before you take your key !! make sure you are gettin what u requested

Bungalow itself was not so bad (yet nothing good as well) - small room, veranda of a reasonable size, small kitchen set. But for it's price - it's OK (yet I dreamed about air conditioning - there is none).
What is not OK even for such a low price - is staff. Dear potential customers of Vista Oasis shop, always get your calculator with you! Reception staff lies and cheats when you get your purchases to cash machine to pay for them. It could be up to 30-40% more VS prices indicated on labels, if you just pay the amount announced without checking it.
Internet is available at reception only, speed is not awful, but is definetely bad.

it was in the middle of no where, on the hotel road there was one resturant and one supermarket, you need a car to get around. the bungalows as they call it are nothing like what they say no air con no fans, not a lot of cooking facilites, never se them clean round pool, cleaners and receptionists were very un helpful and rude.

After reading other reviews on here i was weary, but to be honest most the low cost holidays in this area seemed much the same.
I arrived with cockroach spray at the ready and was pleased to say the apartments and surrounding areas were clean and tidy, so my fears were unfound. We were on the 3rd bunch of appartments up, so not sure what the ground floor was like?
The reception is 24hours and all the staff seemed helpful. One or two were not great at English, but hey we are in Spain! There was a particulary nice dark haired Spanish lady whose English was great and she provided us with directions for the Free Bus to the beach. This ran daily at 9.20, 11.30 & 12.20. Returning 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30pm.
We soon found out there are no decent eateries in the area (do not go to the one across the road from Oasis-it's nasty, cheap food) and I would recommend you go to the beach for a meal at lunch time and then have a snack in the evening for this reason. We found some nice restuarants in the shopping area further up Maspolomas beach. We also visited Samsara (opens after 7pm) for a posh meal-very nice.Best steak my partner has ever had. Only 4-5 Euros in a cab each way.See other reviews.
The room is very basic, with 2 hotplates to cook on. No kettle-take your own.
The fridge /freezer is good though. I also got paint on my feet from the bath, where a dodgy cover up job had been done inside the bath where the scale marks were!!!
The whole complex could do with a major refurb.
The beds in the bedroom were awful. I like a firm bed, but there were overly firm and felt like they had bricks in them, also lumpy. There were horrible plastic undesheets too.
We slept in the loange on the sofa beds which are sponge. No air con, so very hot though.
The pool was lovely, however, some of the blue paint can come off on you when the temperatures go up (I think it was melting?) Keep off the edges and it's fine.
The maids came in every day but Thursdays and Sunday.I'm not sure exactly what they did though as the only thing I noticed was the bed made and the towels were replaced on the Saturday, even though we arrived Monday and left Sunday night. Brooms and mops are provided so you can clean up yourself (the maid doesn't do it).
There is a Spar across the road on your right about 3/4 mins away and if you continue up the road and take the 2nd left before the BIG hotel, follow that down, cross over and there is a great supermarket. This is only about 10 minutes at a slow walk and is very cheap and has everything you need. 8 litres of water can cost 96 cents!I got local wine for less than 2 EUROS and it was nice, even by my 'wine snob standards!
If you want a cheap place to saty and not fussed about sleeping this is ok, but not for anyone with high standards.
