Have been to Maspalomas before but always self catering & always said that we'd wanted to stay at this hotel purely for the location, best in Gran Canaria! Right from the off the service was amazing, so helpful, polite & friendly. The room was a great size, 2 large twin beds put together, great size bathroom & a balcony with 2 sun loungers as well as a small table & chairs. Our balcony got the sun from 4.30pm to sundown so lovely to get those last 2 hours sun & watch it set. The food was the best we've ever had half board, so much choice & always fresh fish on the go. The staff at the bar are really friendly, Rafael looked after us & always remembered what drinks we had. All the staff in the restaurant were really friendly but Israel, Paco & Santiago always looked after us exceptionally well, they always had a smile for us. This is not a young persons hotel although they are child friendly. The average age is 60yrs plus but that didn't worry us as we were there for sunshine & the peace & quiet. I agree about the entertainment, it wasn't great although the young lads that did the Lennon/McCartney tribute were very good. The only negatives about this hotel was the availability of wifi, you could only get it in the reception area but the signal was quite weak or pay for it. Just 1 suggestion really & that was it would have been nice to have had slippers to go with the robes in the bathroom, other than that I can't fault this hotel. Would absolutely recommend this hotel if you want great service & food & a relaxing holiday. We have already booked to go again next year! See you then.

We have children but were on this hols on our own and it for us it was great. We only paid for standard room but got upgraded to partial sea view for free. Rooms were good and beds the comfiest I think I have slept in to date. The average age of clientele in the ifa is probably 70- it is not geared up for youngsters/ children but we found this fantastic as was really quiet and chilled out around pool, and the pick your sunbeds and keep them for the duration if your stay is genius! Meant mornings were really at your own pace. We booked B and B and quality of breakfast was really high with endless choice. Hotel is well placed for the melenores strip to the right and the maspalomas strip to the left- great restaurants and bars and we also ran everyday which is great as lots of routes and lots of flat roads! The gym in the hotel has improved since the refurb so don't take note of some of the earlier reviews- it's still small but a full set of dumbells, benches, running machine, cross trainers and several leg press etc machines- enough with a bit of imagination for a decent work out. Staff all really polite and helpful. We ate lunch in restaurant a few times and quality really quite good. Overall we had one if mist relaxing stays and would consider going again ( which we never normally do). Ps if staying go to samsara restaurant and moonlight cinema, both if which you'll find on trip advisor and are great nights out.

This hotel was wonderful. Right from the start the staff were welcoming, cheerful and helpful. The hotel is spacious and exceptionally clean. Food was lovely and varied. Not a chip in sight!! The champagne for breakfast was a luxurious treat each morning at no extra cost! Great location too, near the dunes and also near little coffee shops and restaurants. Felt very safe to wander alone during the day or evenings if we felt like it. Allocation of sun beds on arrival for the duration of stay is such a great idea. The only down side really was the evening entertainment. Pretty much the same duet every evening and they seemed very bored with it too! Having said that, there were nice bars and live entertainment elsewhere. We (myself, my husband and our 20 year old daughter) would definitely stay there again. Excellent!

Room Tip: Our room was very quiet, we had a side sea view, with balcony.

Myself and Boyfriend stayed here in Feb, What a lovely hotel, reception staff were very nice and a great view of the sea from the ground floor, our room was lovely (side sea view) as the sun set that way. (2 loungers was great on the balcony) Rooms were very clean and great hot shower, very comfy beds, just had news channels in English. The buffet food was perfect, so much choice for every type of diet etc. Breakfast was the same, so much to choose from and chefs there for Fresh eggs etc. waiting staff were so nice and helpful and was not rushed after it closed. It was lovely to eat breakfast with a glass off fizz sat outside with the sea in full view. The 100 year old lighthouse to the right was lovely too. It was a very short walk to the shopping center, sand dunes and bus stops. Would definatley reccomend this hotel for couples and families.

Room Tip: Ask for a side sea view to get the sunset

We spent a week at this hotel in Late February and had a really excellent time (good weather too). The hotel is in a fantastic location overlooking the sea at Maspalmomas, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and the dunes. There is also an easy walk to the bus station where you can catch a bus to Las Palmas or Puerto Mogan (a really lovely fishing port - in fact, we travelled to Peurto Rico by bus and completed the journey by boat). The food was good, and the hotel is very clean throughout.. our only minor critisisms were: Although there were lots of TV channels avialable, English speakers only had news, and the hotel operate a sunbed reservation system (we preseume to stop 'towels at dawn').. but this meant that lots of beds were unoccupied throughout each day (and sometimes in the shade).

The hotel must bi in the best location in Maspalomas, right by the sea and in walking distance to lots of places to wander and good local restaurants. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast buffet is superb almost everything you could possibly want to eat.
The pool was heated which made it very pleasant and the allocation of sunbeds meant you knew there would be one for you without all that early morning rush to reserve a place in the sun.
We will be going back an ideal place for some early sunshine without too long a flight and we could travel from our local airport, next year we might even go for two weeks.

Room Tip: Rooms with a side view of the sea are best, preferably facing the lighthouse

Just returned from 2 weeks at Ifa Faro Hotel. Unfortunately the weather was poor for a lot of the time, with a gale force storm on one day, so there was limited opportunity to use the pool/poolside, but we were very pleased with the idea of allocated sun loungers which avoided the problem of a race for the best seats every fine morning!
We had a side sea view which was fine. We looked at a sea view room but the extra cost is really excessive when you don't spend a lot of time in the room anyway.
The room layout is strange!! the toilet has a frosted glass door, and is very small, and shower surround is all frosted glass, which allows no privacy for those who prefer it.
Most of the guests were either German or Scandinavian.
The hotel staff were all friendly and as helpful as possible within the constraints of their system. The problem area is the dining room - particularly at breakfast. Nobody greets you and shows you to a table, so you have to find a free one. No tables seem to be set up, so we usually had to sit at a used table and try to attract a waiter to set it up - which often took up to 10 minutes, but then they are sometimes too enthusiastic!. On one classic "Fawlty Towers" situation, we had our table set up, and I had taken my bacon and eggs and bread to the table, but went back for butter, only to find my meal, cutlery and crockery had been cleared when I returned, and I had to start trying to attract a waiter all over again!!!
The waiting staff do work hard, but without obvious supervision. One typical waste of their time is getting tea for the guests, when it is just as easy for them to get their own. A helpful gesture, necessary in a few cases, but poor use of their time.
Having had a moan, there are many good points!
The rooms and all areas of the hotel are very clean.
The evening entertainment is quite good.
The pool looks very clean
The choice of food is excellent, catering for all nationalities.
The location is excellent, with access to walks, dunes and sandy beach.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

Room Tip: We found our side sea view room on the south west side excellent because it got the sun in late afte...
