Just returned from a one week holiday here , really good.we have stayed at several H10 hotels and do like the privilege service , which we had here , and this is the best of them all.Hotel nice and clean , staff always helpful , food great , we were on all inclusive so no more outlay once we had checked in.I cannot recommend this hotel enough , we will be back next year .It may be a little more expensive than most hotels in the Canries , but well worth the extra.Enjoy.

Room Tip: Use the privilege service , more expensive but restaurant much better.

Overall a great place for a Gran Canaria holiday. Lovely location with views out to the sea and access to the seaside promenade leading to the Maspalomas Faro. Plentiful half board option and a functional (if not great) gym for an additional fee if on the standard tariffs. Quite some room to enhance its eco performance.

Public Transport:
- No information on H10 website or in room public transportation options, or clear map of how to get from Maspalomas Faro bus stop to the hotel (further from other hotels in the area from the bus stop)

Zero Waste:
- No recycling / composting bins in the room
- Disposable plastic toiletries containers rather than the bulk dispensers you find in many eco-conscious Nordic hotels
- Was not provided the option to receive bill via email rather than getting another piece of paper to throw away

Energy:
+ Electricity in room keycard operated
- No apparent on-site generation through solar or thermal hot water (there should be plenty of opportunity for this on Gran Canaria)

Recycled and Local Products:
- Unable to tell if the paper products in the room were recycled

Environmental Information:
- No information in room or on website regarding environmental, initiatives, performance / CO2 emissions and targets

CO2 Offset:
- No option to offset CO2 emissions from stay

My wife and I visited the Meloneras Palace for a 11 night break commencing early October 2013. We have previously visited other H10 hotels and found them very good value, although they were all 4 star. We thought this being a 5 star it should have been better, but we were very disappointed in some of the aspects.
We had paid extra for a full sea view and the first room we were shown had a partial sea view to the left. There were also workmen refurbishing rooms a small distance away. We did not unpack our bags but immediately went to reception and told them we could not stay in this room. They then told us there was only one other room available (which was hard to believe in a hotel of this size). As there were no workmen nearby we reluctantly accepted this but we were not happy with this as it was close to the main building which prevented much light getting in.There was also a welcome gift of biscuits addressed to someone else who we suspected had turned this room down earlier.
We went back to reception on the next day and explained we were not happy with this situation. We were told that we could not change until 2 days later. We went back after this time and were told to try in another 2 days time. This continued until the 6th day of our holiday when we were eventually moved to a room that was acceptable. We have never had any trouble of this kind in any other hotels we have previously visited and that was not the type of service we expected from a 5 star hotel in particular.
We found the hotel to be a lovely building and the food and service in the restaurant were very good. The public areas were very well kept as was our room which was lovely and clean, although a little tired. We found all the staff very helpful and pleasant, apart from the reception.
We also had to wait 6 days before we received our dressing gown and slippers, which should happen automatically with any 5 star hotel.
We will not be returning

Dear H10 Playa Meloneras Palace Guest,

Thank you for posting a review on Tripadvisor.

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed our lovely building, our food and service in the restaurant and our public areas.

Also very important for us to hear is that you were delighted with our staff.

Nonetheless, we regret to read that you were not satisfied with the view of your room. The sea view rooms have full sea view or enjoy a partial sea-view. In case our guests do not like the assigned room they always have the possibility to ask for a change of room (based upon availability).

In October starts our high season and because of this the hotel was quite booked these days. Although our hotel is quite big we offer different room categories. Of course the standard and sea view rooms are the rooms most booked by our guests.
We wish to inform you that we are taking all possible measures to change our clients as soon as possible but one of the reasons why guests have to wait is that we do not have rooms available of the same category which they booked.

We always do our utmost to enable every one of our guests, to spent unforgettable holidays at our H10 Playa Meloneras Palace*****. However we regret not having been able to achieve our main objective with you, which is our guests’ entire satisfaction.

Furthermore we wish to take this opportunity to apologize for the welcome gift which was not addressed on your name.

Concerning the service of dressing gowns and slippers we like to advice you that they are not part of our standard service in our rooms. They are only automatically included in the Privilege Service or Grand Class Service. But please be sure that we took good note about your comment and will think about to change this service.

Once again we like to apologize for all the inconveniences. We would be more than happy to have another possibility to convince you of our 5 star services and remain

With kind regards,

H10 Playa Meloneras Team

We booked the last week of September through Thomas Cook with half board. The hotel was excellent, we had no problem finding a sun bed at any time around the family pool, the food was good, the staff very friendly and everything clean and well looked after.

Food, room, swimmingpool, weather are perfect. Great choice for late summer or early fall beach holidays. Renting a care is obligatory. Halfboard regimen the right option. Reserve a sunbed chair by 10 o´clock at the adults pool.

Room Tip: rooms on the north side are quiter

We booked a late summer weeks break with Thomas Cooke (great legroom on your planes huh) in the first week of October. I had been to GC several years earlier, and have stayed in the Riu Vistamar which changed my view of all inclusive, and also the Riu Club in Tunisia (very very disappointing). We wanted something more upmarket, and hopefully quieter being in school term time.
Initial impressions were only so-so, I was expecting a 5 star hotel, and having spent the last 20 years travelling on business in lesser rated hotels, this was only OK. It wasn't busy, and the staff were friendly but the one young chap seemed new and wasn't entirely sure of all of the details, which is a shame since the hotel is mixed half board and All Inc there are different menus and rules in the restaurants and bars between the two, which really should have been explained more clearly at check-in. Hotel is a sort of shallow "W" shape, we had a room right at the extreme end on the 5th floor, which is a bit of a walk. The hotel is a bit of a maze at first, but that adds to the fun of it all. The one side of the hotel pools are aimed at families with young children, the other end more for adults where the poolside bar and infinity pool are really very nice places to relax. The bars served branded drinks (unlike the Riu hotels) and most are included with the AI package, and of course are all "Spanish measures" so be careful. The hotel is spotless, the staff all friendly. Although it was allegedly full, it didn't appear to be, and we had no problem finding a sundbed even at 10am, there was no desperate 6am rush to bag a poolside seat which made the holiday for me, as this can totally ruin the experience.

The main buffet restaurant was OK, some dishes good, some poor; on balance it was not better than the Riu Vistamar in Amadores, which was disapointing, plus there was not much variation day to day, but it was all fresh and mostyly cooked well. The fresh cook stations were OK, again nothing special - one evening an undercooked chicken kebab wasn't too impressive. However, the Gaudi restaurant is really very nice, you only have to pay for the wine, which is reasonable value and has some good choices, Perez Cruz Cab Sauvignon 2011 at €29 compared to £10 a bottle from Virgin wines for example; but there are some better and more expensive choices. We ate there twice, expecting to pay for the full meal second time, as we were told at the first visit that AI guests get one included meal. I was totally up front when I booked the second time, and that was also "included" so again I had a slight suspicion that the hotel staff whilst by no means overtly deceiptful, are perhaps encouraged not to reveal all of the facilities to the AI guests. It was a very subtle impression, and didn't in any way spoil the holiday, but I might be more inclined to search for a better AI hotel next time, or book half board; at least then you now exactly what is, and is not paid for. From what I have read, a mixed AI and half board hotel rarely works harmoniously, but this for most of the time worked fine.

For me though the biggest irritation was the broken air con in the gymn. OK, most people go on holiday to relax, but some of us like to keep running and cycling, and the gymn which is well equipped for a holiday hotel was a key factor in choosing the hotel. For the last 3 days of our stay the aircon was broken, which rendered it unusable.

All of the rooms have a sea view, so don't bother paying extra for one (like I did). The ground floor rooms would be ideal for families or elderly couples as they open straight onto the pool areas.

Finally, don't check out until you need to leave otherwise you will miss your included lunch on the final day, thankfully the extremely friendly head waiter didn't charge us, but you really shouldn't be put in that situation in the first place in a good hotel. Overall, we had a great holiday, the hotel experience was very good, and we would consider returning again again.

excellent Hotel with friendly staff who are always there to help, good food and great location. very clean throughout, also surrounding area very good and plenty to do with a host of good shops and bars within walking distance.
the only downside was the service at breakfast and dinner was a bit slow in clearing plates etc due to short staff but I am sure this was just a temporary glitch.
Other wise a great Holiday in a great place.
