“it was perfect”
Reviewed February 11, 2009

i've been to vista dorada from 30 january till 3 february 2009,i just paid 99 euro for my staying
this 4 days and it has costed me 12 euro the food cause you have a nice kitchen in the bungalow
where you can cook and instead of all the other hotels i didn't have to pay for the double room in wich
i was but just for one person, plus the hotel is big but you'll never walk 1 km to reach the reception,if you
want to spend more then you can go to riu palace but for that money it was perfect, clean, nothing was missing, the
bungalows are clean and there's a pool area and a supermarket in the hotel.
"We complained to reception however no better rooms were available"......in the complaint below they forgot to write how
much they've paid for it!!what do you want for 25 euro per day?the weather was good 21-28 degrees.
there are per owners in the hotel but you can't hear any noise, just an other lie in the complaint below as you can not even judge
a hotel in half hour.if you ask in the reception there's a FREE bus going to the beach of maspalomas.
if you just watch the comments next page you'll find a lot of positive comments.
i use to work 7 years as entertainer in hotels and getting from the direction the guest comment
every week i found out that the people that we use to call "the poors english" the ones they go in holiday in low season because is cheaper
they use to complaint all the time and write lots of lie too.
this hotel in wich i paid 25 euro per day it was PERFECT!!

These apartments are old, tired, filthy and depressing.
Bedding was damp and stained and the whole bungalow needed a make over.
We complained to reception however no better rooms were available and all the BEST bungalows around the pool area have been sold to private buyers.
Checked in at 2.30pm on 2nd feb 2009 and checked out 2.35 same day!!!!
Absolutely terrible .
We were not offered a replacement accomodation and have just returned and will be chasing APLPHA ROOMS for a full refund. We donot live in such conditions in the UK and donot expect to holiday in them either.
Very disappointed went and checked into RIU DON MIGUEL at extra cost and have had a fabulous week enjoying all Gran Canaria has to offer!!!
Never book VISTA DORADA as you will be very disappointed.

We booked this holiday due to the good reviews we had read about it but when we arrived we were extremely disappointed. We were met on arrival by a very surly female receptionist who seemed to doubt that we were booked despite having a sheet clearly showing our details. Eventually we were given keys, a map and so called directions to our bungalow which we only found after a long trek to the very bottom of the complex. The apartments were extremely basic and smelly but after a long journey we were just glad to get sitting down. The biggest problem with the apartments however was condensation as every morning when we got up our clothes and bed clothes were damp and very cold. We spent as little time as possible in the apartments and we would never go back to Vista Dorada even if it were a freebie.

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks break on the 21st Nov. 2008. The apartment was very clean and everything was in working order etc. No cockroaches just a very few tiny ants on the balcony after we had dropped some crumbs the evening before. I think the secret is to sweep carefully.
Receptionists were very helpful and arranged a move for us when we asked if we could move to an upper apartment to have a greater view. They also made the calls to arrange car hire and to confirm transfers.
We did not eat or use the bar. The kitchen was fine and perfectly reasonably equipped. The beds were comfortable and the furniture in good order.
Yes, this place is not in the first flush of youth but it is fine.

  • Liked — Fantastic value for money
  • Disliked — long walk to the beach but there was a free bus shuttle

We just got back from the Vista Dorada, we'd nevewr been to Grand Canaria before and so booked blind except for what we could gather from trip advispr and the net. We wanted some where close to the Yumbo but not in the middle of Playa Del Ingles which we thought might be too rowdy.

When we arrived at the Vista Dorada about 6pm we were given our keys and the requested a key for the safe in our room, we were shown a very small map of the bungalow complex and pointed vaguely in the right direction, you needed sat nav to find the right number as there must be three hundred appartments/ bungalows on a steep hillside. Ours must have been almost the farthest from reception, down endless winding slopes and stairs, when we eventually found ours we opened it but there was clearly some one still staying in it. So I went up all the endless slopes and stairs again back to reception, who said it was impossible, but then gave me a key to another one another slope down, so back all the winding slopes and stairs again, back to my partner who was watching the bag, we found the next one and this time did not need to open it as there was someone quite clearly inside watching television. Now I'm beggining to get a bit wound up as I climb the endless winding slopes and stairs plus one extra this time, back to recaption, this time she again says but that is impossible it cannot be, so I insist she comes back down with me, she says she cant but will send down a key for yet another appartment, 20 minutes later the key arrives and this time its empty and we unpack and get settled in. Sleep there for the night and go off to the beach ( which is miles away and hard to find) come back around 8pm get settled ready to eat and relax when there is the sound of water in the bath room, its absolutely flooding down from the appartment above bringing the ceiling down!!! By now I realise that you can ring reception from the room so that saves me the 1 km up hill to reception. They say sorry there is a maintenance problem in the flat above we will have to move to another. So we have to pack up again and move to another one further along. We stayed in this one till the end of the week. We booked as I thought a double bed but as far as I can see they are all singles.
Overall the appartments are not bad, clean and they have all the bsic needs. If you get one low down the hill, use the bottom door and not the reception entrance will save you loads of effort and expense on the taxis
You need a taxi or a bus to get anywhere at all. the beach must be 2k away through a tangle of dual carriageways, other resorts and building sites, there is nothing other than a spar shop and a small restaurant close by. The Yumbo is about a £3 cab away as is the lighthouse and promenade in Maspalomas, so be prepared.
Apart form location and our unfortunate start, the bungalows and appartments are not bad. They have nice little gardens and they really are clean, ok there is an odd cockroach about but I guess there is anywhere in those parts. They are friendly enough on reception and we had no trouble with theft, though you should ghet a safe key and use it. Seems pick pocketting is writhe in the yumbo so just take the cash you need with you.
Top tip from uis.
The gay beach is a small safari across the dessert and when you get there the chances are you'll be sand blasted and have to pay about £7.50 for a beach brolley and a couple of sun beds to get any protection.
We discovered the Gran Hotel Costa Mesonleras close to the light house, fabulous 5 star great style and lagoon style pools and gardens, just walk in the main entrance and say you are having a drink, use all the facilities they don't mind and the cocktails are fabulous and cheaper than outside.
Vista Dorada its ok and the main thing that let it down for me was the location, I think we was just unlucky in the start. But as for the accomodation and cleanliness it was well worth the money and it has a certain charm.

We have just returned from two weeks in these apartments and were disappointed with the standard of accomodation there. We appreciated that it was 2 key and did not expect luxury for the price we paid but would not go back there again. Luckily my parents were staying in Maspolomas also and we spent 95% of our time at their apartments (Maspolomas Lago). The apartments are a long walk to beach (45) mins and are in dire need of renovation with paint peeling everywhere and broken tiles and worktop surfaces-even the pool did not look clean. The rooms were cleaned 5 days a week but again the standard was poor (mainly just the beds got made) We had a variety of bugs within the room including baby cockroaches crawling out of the element of the kettle and ants piling into the room through a loose plug socket! We may have been unlucky and to be fair did not complain to staff (as we were at my parents mostly) Perhaps things would have improved if we had. However I certainly would not recommend these apartments and by spending just a bit more would recommend the Maspolomas Lago Bungalows,
