I booked this apartment after doing a little searching on the web, and to be honest its not all it says it is on the tin! It advertises that the apartments contain a toaster and kettle which neither were available. It also says that there is a poolside bar which was closed for the two weeks we were there.

On the plus side the apartments were spotlessly clean when we arrived. We chose the no cleaning option, but please be aware that unlike other apartments we have stayed at this really does mean no services at all. We had to empty our own bins, the sheets were never changed for a fortnight nor the towels. you had to buy your own toilet rolls too.

The pool area was lovely, well maintained and clean and to be honest wasn't used by many people.

The reception staff were ok, but had limited launguage skills.

The apartments themselves were as I have said, very clean, but they were also very dated. The majority of the apartments appeared to have been sold off to private owners. This was an issue because the aprtment next to mine was owned by a spanish lady who insisted on playing her music deafening loud which did disturb the peace and quite on a daily basis.

The location is in Sonnenland which is a good distance out of the resort. good if you want peace and quiet but everywhere is a taxi ride away. It costs less than 5 euros into Playa or Maspalomas.

If you go out of the complex and turn left there is a well tocked Spar shop about 500 metres up a steep hill. Also by the Spar is the Vista Bonita Restaurant which is well worth a visit.

Also, the beds are really hard, the only time I didn't wake up with a bad back was when I slept on the sofa!

We been there in February 2012 and i think that the Ataitana Frao Apartments are compared to a lot of other accommodations good. So in total i would give 3 1/2 Points for this place.

The apartments are nice with a small livingroom / smaller kitchen and a nice terrace on the ground floor and a bedroom, toilette and a small balcony on the first floor. The furniture in our place was old but ok. But we are not so picky with stuff like this. But some people might say that this place is worn out and could use new furnitures.

But for us it was just a place to sleep and sometimes sunbathing on the balcony or the pool which was really nice but really cold aswell :-)

You have free wifi access there and they have a little store in the entrance. You can walk from there in 3-5 Minutes to the next supermarket and they have some parkingspaces as well in front of the entrance.

The staff in this place is very friendly and thy "cleaned" the apartments every second day and gave new towels.

Room Tip: It doesn't make such a difference if you have poolview or not. If you have poolview it meens you don't have another apartment in front of your balcony.

The Ataitana faro Bungalows are 2 storey duplex 1 bedroom apartments,
in the reception area you will find a small shop and a computer terminal
which we never saw switched on once while we were there.
we stayed in apartment 38 which overlooked the walk in swimming pool and
had the sun all day every day.
Entering the apartment you are in the living/kitchen/dining area, there
is a 2 ring hob for cooking an overly rusty looking fridge, a sofa, table
and 2 chairs for dining and a payv tv, no kettle provided but a tea tray
with teapot jug and sugar bowl, there is also a toaster, the large balcony
on this level has a table chairs and clothes airer, upstairs there is a
bathroom and 1 bedroom with twin beds.
The beds were riddled with uninvited guests which loved to bite my mother
and oldest daughter as they slept. the cutlery drawer is home to cockroaches
which is not ideal, the folding bed my youngest should of slept on had no
bedding or pillow so she slept on the sofa with me, not ideal for a gd nights
sleep.
In the local vicinity you will find a Spar supermarket, this is a 5 minute walk
up a steepish hill but reasonably priced , the on site restaurant never opened
while we were there, the nearest beach is a 20 minute walk away, but there is a
curtesy bus which takes people there 3 times a day, Meloneres beach is a shingle/
pebble beach which reminds me of Towyn ( Nth Wales) after it was flooded some yrs
ago its a good walk along here that takes you to maspalomas and the sand dunes,
also the nudist beach for those that are interested!
This place is great if your only looking for a base to stay in and for visiting
other resorts, we highly recommend you visit Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogan also
known as "little venice" theres a great market on here on a friday morning that
wraps itself around the harbour.
We have been coming to Gran Canaria for many years now and can give honest and
reliable reviews of a lot of accomodations in and around Puerto Rico and Playa
Taurito, please feel free to request info on apartments and indeed bars and
restaurants in these areas
