Couldnt really fault anything, right from the start to the end. We had a five night stay here over the Easter holidays. We caught the bus from the airport (route 66) - 3 euros 70 each - which stops a few hundred yards from hotel (El Palmeral Oasis stop). Buses run hourly and it is a cheap and better way to get to and from the airport. Bus was 10 minutes late on the way back to the airport, but we always had a taxi to fall back on if it didnt arrive, but if finally did. We had a friendly greeting when we arrived at the hotel. The location of our suite was good, on the left hand side, near the back...we didnt think it was a good location at first but we were glad that we werent overlooking the pool or the front because of the noise from kids, and glad we werent a long way out towards the back of the complex. Our suite was 139 and was ideally placed, nice and quiet and not overlooked. The suite consisted of a large bedroom and bathroom and a lounge area with a tele (too bad that most of the channels were german though!). There was a fridge in the lounge area (which was empty - which pleased us so we could store our own water, beer and wine in - a minibar was available but you had to ask for the fridge to be stocked, we thought this was a good idea, because if not the minibars can tempt you with items that are over priced.) The bathroom was well equipped with the usual things - soap, showergel/shampoo, hairdryer etc. The suite was immaculately cleaned everyday and the towels changed everyday. Meal times were good - 8.00 to 10.30 for breakfast and 6.30 to 10.00 for dinner. They do offer all inclusive but to be honest after a big breakfast we didnt need anything else to eat until dinner. There was a good selection of food at breakfast and dinner - something for everyone...and lots of vegetarian options...loads of salads and vegetable selections too. We had the house white wine with our meal in the evening (this cost 8 euros - the same wine in their small shop off reception was 6 euros, which we bought to have a drink outside our suite...I know this would be a lot cheaper in a supermarket but the small shop was convenient). The complex is large...and seems to be split into two...the suite and villas side was the "posher" side....over the far side of the complex was further rooms with a separate reception, pool and restaurant etc....I understand that these are not so good as the suites and villas side. The supermarket is located on this side of the complex which we used once or twice for beer, water and crisps etc. Even though we over the children stage, there seemed to be plenty to do for families with children...lots of entertainment etc. The only thing we would object to is using live parrots as a form of entertainment...not really appropriate in present times. The walk to the beach and Meloneras/Maspolomas was a pleasant 15 minute level walk by the canal. This is a more upmarket area compared to Playa del Ingles....but obviously not so busy and not so many bars etc....but to be honest we walked loads in the day time so were happy to have a glass of wine at the hotel complex in the evening. The beach is good...we avoided the regimental sunbed area...and is split into sections for nudists and gays etc. The sea is very cold though!!!! The dunes are very pleasant and good for the legs! We saw loads of wildlife...kestrels, lizards etc. There is free wireless in the reception area/television lounge if you do want to take your own laptop. You can use the hotel's computers for the internet...but they do charge (seemed to be 3 euros...but dont know how many minutes you got for that). Overall, a very good hotel for both couples and families. We will definitely be returning again.

We recently stayed at the hotel for a week along with some friends. After a tiring journey we arrived at the hotel reception and with minimal delay were directed to our suites. The suite we stayed was large, well maintained and clean. We were all inclusive and we found that this was probably best as the cost of drinks and meals in restaurants and pubs were not much different than UK. In fact we went into Playa del Ingles for one night and found the cost of drinks to be far more than in the UK.

The hotel food was excellent with a large range of choices for breakfast, dinner and supper. The waiting staff were courteous but often very busy cleaning and setting tables. The pool setting was good there were activities for both adults and children and the animation team were enthusiastic and looked after the kids very well.

I think the timing of our holiday was just right as we had excellent wather and the hotel did not seem that busy, by the end of the week we noticed that it was rapidly becoming busier and more people were arriving making the pool area and restaurant very busy.

The beach was a 15 minute walk away and appeared busy on the days we walked to it.

I think for couples seeking a quiet break then earlier in the year rather than later would be my advice.

Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the food and weather, would certainly go back again for a winter break.

We where looking for a sunshine break in the winter that wasnt long haul - we werent sure about Gran Canaria (didnt want to find ourselves in Brits abroad land) but where very surprised and pleased with both the resort and the complex. Im amazed at some of the very negative reviews - believe me we are very choosey and pickey about hotelrooms etc and we where very pleased with what we had. Large bedroom, large bathroom with double sinks, stand alone shower and seperate bath and good sized living room all of a better standard than we expected.

The children loved the pools (we backed onto one in bungalow 2234) and the heated one was only about 500 yards away. The main pool was popular with the children as well - couldnt get them out of it! Food was of a good standard and we thought the complex itself was laid out very nicely with lovely gardens.

Yes its is a 15 minute walk to the beach but nothing to long - you can walk into Meloneras if you are feeling energetic but we had a car for the week (booked in advance from home through Orlando cars which was by far the cheapest way to do it) and we went up to the capital, along the coast to Puerto D'Morgan (lovely) and into the mountains a few times . Aslo went to Aquapark, about a 15 minute drive.

I wonder if come of the reviews are confused with the complex next door which has a similar name and isnt nearly as nice?

Would recommend this one for families who want the children to be in a safe environment with plenty of activities for them and a good standard of accomodation and food. Would defo go again!

Recent reviews suggest this hotel is either heaven or hell. We found it to be neither!
On arrival at the hotel, we were taken to our suite, which was facing the canal (it smelled a bit like a sewer.) We immediately said we didn't like the location and asked if it would be possible to move. The reaction to this request summed up the attitude of all the staff we encountered there - they couldn't have been more helpful! We were immediately shown to another suite by the pool with the offer of showing us a third, if we were still unhappy.
The suite itself was fine. If I were to highlight some niggles, I would say that a plug socket near the dressing table would have been helpful. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom but woefully underpowered as all hotel hairdryers tend to be. The other point would be that despite seeing no evidence of damp whatsoever, any clothes left out overnight, felt clammy in the morning whether the aircon was on or off.
Despite being half board we only ate in the hotel restaurant twice, but this is no reflection on the quality or quantity of the food on offer - we just prefer to eat out. We are like Jack Spratt and his wife - I don't eat meat, he doesn't eat vegetables! That said neither of us had any problems finding well cooked and flavoured food to eat on either occasion. There was a huge salad bar and an array of hot dishes which would suit the tastes of all nationalities there (mainly Spanish, German and British)
The beach was about a kilometre walk from the hotel along the side of the canal and nature reserve. It's flat and is an easy walk. If you're feeling lazy a cab was about 3euros or the hotel had a bus at set times running to and fro. We ate most evenings near the beach at a variety of restaurants. The menus seemed very similar wherever we chose and most everything came with chips!
There is an ATM in the hotel reception which was useful.
Never having been to the Canary Islands before, I have no idea about the usual standards of a 4 star there compared to other countries. I was very surprised that there was a charge to use the safe in the room as I've never encountered that before and frankly shocked to be asked to pay when we requested to borrow an iron.
All in all it was fine. It wasn't luxurious but then we hadn't paid for a luxury hotel.

Where do I start? I'll try and cut this long story short. We arrived at the hotel after a long and tiring journey. We chose self catering because we have young children and need kitchen facilities and the freedom to come and go as we please. When we got to the bungalow we were not very pleased. The room was not worthy of it's rating. The fixtures and fittings were tired and worn and the bathroom and wardrobe were disgusting. It also smelled of damp. However, we were really tired and worn out so we unpacked and opened all the windows to try and get rid of the smell and make it feel like home. The next day, when we woke up (after I had been forced to sleep on a dirty sheet with blood on it) we still did not like it but thought we would make the best of it as we were only there for a week and didn't want to be packing and unpacking again. However, things got worse. We discovered our room was right next to a bar with entertainment even though we had requested a quiet room and we also experienced the first of many visitors (cockroaches!) Not just one or two either and they all came from the kitchen area! There was no way we were going to stay in that room so I went to Reception and spoke to the Manager straight away to explain that we could not stay in the room any longer. It was a health hazard! The Manager listened to my complaints and straight away changed us to a suite. The suites are much nicer and on the opposite side of the complex but they don't have kitchen facilities only a fridge. It wasn't what we wanted but we had no choice. It was that or fly home early. We were lucky that we were able to salvage the remainder of our holiday but the fact is NOBODY should be allocated in to the bungalows. They are not fit for human habitation! They should be knocked down never mind refurbished. With regard to the hotel in general, the food was okay but the public areas are tired and in need of refurbishment. The jacuzzi in the main pool has no water in it and the bridge was cordoned off with tape. However, the childrens entertainment and mini disco were good. Would I stay at this hotel again? Never!

Half term in February, weather not great but warm enough most days and hot on a couple. Teenage son loved the activities during the day when he actually got out of the pool. Lots of small pools around but main activities are around the main pool late mornign and early afternoon. Recommend paying the extra to stay all inclusive (You can eat 5 times a day if you want to and drinks on tap all day and evening) food good, plenty of variety for adults and kids. It would be expensive to eat and drink there if not all inclusive and its a good 15 minute walk to the beach and beyond to any real populated area and restaurants. Room abit tired and need of attention, beds not great but loads of space with separate sitting area and tv, we plugged our portable dvd in which was great for kids and all ground floor bungalow style so safe for kids. Patios are small and ours didn't get any sun. Get involved in the activities with the animation team: adults, mini club and maxi club and have a go at rifle shooting, darts, pool, archery, exercise, etc its good fun. Evening entertainment typical animation team, couple of good nights but nothing to write home about. Trips very expensive. Would definately return for another winter break everyone we met was really friendly whether english or european.

We were quite surprised at some of the negative reviews as our week away exceeded our expectations.
The reception staff were very efficient and all spoke good English.
The one bedroom had a comfortable bed and nice living area. The bathroom was large and had both a shower and bath. One slight criticism was that the aircon was louder than we would have liked and it could be heard occasionally at night.
We went all inclusive and thought that the food was plentiful, enjoyable and varied. Yes it wasn't always what we would eat at home and some things were cooked in different methods to what we are used to - but it is a Spanish location serving customers from throughout Europe. We could eat continuously from 07.00 to midnight! Likewise the bar offered a variety of drinks and was open from 11.00 until 01.00. The service in both the restaurant and the bar was always first class.
The entertainment was varied and whilst the quality sometimes was slightly disappointing the effort put in couldn't be faulted. Likewise the animation team were always happy and jovial and worked hard to ensure that the punters enjoyed their holiday
The site is about a15 minute stroll to the beach where we could find plenty of nice shops, coffee bars and restaurants. Unfortunately the prices seemed quite high - but that is because of the poor exchange rate between the pound and the Euro.
All in all then an excellent, relaxing week away avoiding the miserable British winter
