Stayed at this hotel as a family and have to say it was relaxing, pleasant and above all a very good experience.
The hotel is well located in th heart of the town, next to the promenade, restaurants, shops and the ocean! The restaurant caters well with a very wide ranging menu - buffet style. Presentation is good and quality of food is good. The only negative is that the presentation can look tired quickly as the masses gather their food and take their pickings. Staff try to pretty it up when they see the unsightly array. The swimming pools are a good size and you don't need to worry about the early morning towel on the bd brigade. There are plenty of seats/loungers and the clientele is mature.
The gym and sauna are small and unisex. Not such an issue, unless you are offended with large pot bellied men sitting in the sauna undraped.
The wifi system is poor with access only available at the reception area. Not available in the rooms.
The entertainment is interesting. None of them would get past the first round in the X factor! Having said all that the staff and management are exemplary. They take pride in the service they provide and offer genuine caring service. They make the stay very enjoyable.

Just come home from Riu Palace where we enjoyed a superb one week. We really cannot complain about anything and were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. They are closing from May to September for refurbishment and were shown a room which had been renovated. It was a bit `Travel Lodgey' - although it had a magnificent wet room - but you wouldn't know you were in a Spanish resort. We thought it was fine as it was, and our only minor grouse was the 20 euros charge to use the room safe which wasn't returned on relinquishing the key(!!!!!). The location of the safe was on the floor and the valuables which we deposited in it were too low for me to retrieve. My husband just about managed to get up from his knees after ferreting around for our belongings. However we would come again. Everything else was AOK. All staff were pleasant and helpful, food excellent and pool loungers plentiful. Really cannot pick any holes in the Palace and would definitely return. Would have welcomed easier access to WiFi and I presume this will be available in all rooms after refurbishment.

Room Tip: We made a special request for a room near to a lift which was made available for us. However, the...

We couldn't fault this hotel. Excellent location, friendly, professional staff who all made us feel very welcome. Very clean. I don't particularly like buffets but the food was very acceptable. We dined in small restaurant one night (waiter service) which was ok but the limited menu doesn't change, which is a shame when there for two weeks. Plenty of sun beds - however we found it very amusing or maybe a little sad that every night a fellow guest went out around midnight to put towels, books and umbrella to bag his favourite spot! We will definitely return as long as the modernisation doesn't make the price prohibitive.

We have just returned from a two week holiday from this hotel, and like most Riu s it never fails to please, the staff were excellent the place was kept very clean and tidy the food was always fresh and with plenty of choice there not really much i can comment on, except the whole thing is being shut in May for 4 months for a complete refurb. we visited the new mock up rooms look very good but a total departure from what you might expect no more wood all clean minimalist decorations white and purple refitting the dinning rooms whole new ball game.
We had a villa there great hope they keep them we are told by the staff that there is going to be more choices of rooms, revamped swimming pool area etc etc.this is really good news as the existing hotel was starting to look tired. so will we return possible yes in the autum.

Room Tip: if in a villa get top floor south facing other wise get high level floor sea views.

My wife and I stayed here one week (February/March 2014) and enjoyed top class service in this beautiful hotel. The architecture is impressive and the maintenance as well as the cleanliness is kept on a high level. However, the owners have decided to upgrade the hotel from the old classic style to a more modern appearance. Not absolutely necessary in my opinion...
The atmosphere is pleasent with many different nationalities, possibly with most Germans, who also representet somewhat older people than the average. But there were also many families and some young couples. The pool area is big with sufficient space, where there always were available sunbeds.
The entertainment was of a very good quality. There were shows performed by professional actors and there was also a band playing very good dance music. We loved the music and the nice atmosphere it gave its contribution to. The bar served very good drinks at prices from 5 Euro and up.
We had only breakfast in the hotel, except for one day when we had dinner in the hotel's restaurant. If you buy the dinner "by the piece", the price is 30 Euro, i.e. 60 Euro for us two, plus drinks. The cheapest wine was 17 Euro per bottle. The quality of the dinner was acceptable, but it was not worth the price. The breakfast buffet was very good with everything you liked, even sparkling wine (Cava) for those who like to trigger the sweat early in the morning. There is one thing, though, that I like to mention. The great number of guests came in too close contact with the food and the hygienic standard could be better during breakfast. This is the reason why I do not give the hotel full score. But all in all the hotel qualifies for the five stars.

Room Tip: If you like to relax or enjoy a drink on your balcony, observe that there is not much shadow on the...

Spend 1 week in the south of Gran Canaria. Typacally Rui Hotel with a great front office staff.
Even not every day was nice and warm. But felt very comortable.
All the processes from the check in to check out was very good coordinated.
Breakfast is average, everything you expect. Fresh fruit and mixed juice was great.
Was always very busy.
Pools are small, but good equiped with sunbeds.
Old fashion on design, but in a few month there will be a total renovation. Rooms are small.
TV programm is very limited, but hope it will be improved after the renewing.
Was missing the WIFI in the room. As an alternativ you will have a big lobby with free wifi.
Never used the restaurants for dinner. Personally I don't like buffets.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Riu Club Hotel. You will have WIFI, not free but it works.

Just returned after an excellent two week break.

Although we have stayed at this Hotel many times previous, it's always great to return in the knowledge that we will be met by management and members of staff, who give us such a warm welcome.
The management and staff provide the highest standard of courtesy, helpfulness and efficiency.

The Hotel is ideally located within easy walking distance of promenade, shops and sand dunes.

Hotel Restaurants and bars offer a good quality of food and service, and evening entertainment is of a high standard.
The hotel grounds are maintained and manicured continuously and accommodation is cleaned daily to a very good standard.

We will definitely be visiting again.
