Just returned from this fabulous hotel. The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Thompsons looked after us really well and we did not have to worry about a thing. The hotel is very professional, but the staff make you feel like individuals and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were very clean, the food was excellent and the hotel itself was lovely. Tossa beach is only 10mins away and so beautiful, the crystal waters are full of fish and the magnificent castle overlooking the bay rounds off the fairytale setting. The Spanish are so gracious and everywhere we went we were met with courtesy and a smile. Prices are very low compared to other European countries and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. A special thanks to the staff and the entertainments team who were all committed to making our holiday special. We are planning next year's visit already!

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are more scenic.

We have just returned from two weeks at the golden Bahia, we stayed on half board. We had part of the family for the first week and part of the family for the second week (with 2 little boys 1 and 4)
When we arrived the check in was hastle free, with the staff very friendly and obliging. Our room overlooking the pool was fine with an adequate bathroom we had tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was replenished each day, there was a fridge and a safe (3 euros a day). The layout of the hotel around the pools is excellent with a wonderful idea "2 men patrol the pool area from 7.30am until 10am and any towels left unattended on sun beds are removed, what a terrific idea, so when you came from breakfast you had no problems getting a bed. Towels were free of charge you just left a deposit of 10euros per towel.
We found the food was lovely, good breakfast with all the usual bacon, eggs omlettes, plus all the cereals and fruit. Dinner again was 1st class with plenty of choice even though there was some repetition we could have something different each night. There is even a separate area for childrens food, which my two grandsons found to be really good.
The entertainment for the children and adults in the day was very good, and the shows whilst the usual type of entertainment the were of a good standard.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful and polite and we would not hesitate to go back again.
Tossa is a lovely town slightly up market with small narrow streets and some lovely shops the promenade is lovely to walk along in the evening, unfortunately the beach is fine grit so you need beach shoes to walk on it. The castle at the end of the beach is worth walking around the kids were mad up by it !! We took the small train up to the top which beats walking up a very steep walk, we also took the train around the resort which leaves from outside the hotel and got to know the place better. We can recommend both, and children will love them too.

Room Tip: One with a pool view, we had no noise in the evenings. The air conditioning was also very quiet.

We stayed at this hotel last week in July 2013 and have found it to have been a lovely hotel. We stayed half board and the food in the main restaurant was very good but it seemed to been a bit repetitive some times, but cannot complain. Maybe they should have some theme nights? The room was of an adequate size with a small double and single bed as we was a couple! The room was overlooking the road, but as we was on the fifth floor we found it not at all noisy. It was clean but the walls seem to transmit sound very easily, having heard next doors phone vibrating ring tone, or so we guessed! The pool area was very nice and enough sun beds with the hotel which looked at full capacity. If you want piece and quiet go to the 6th floor roof top, with two spa and jacuzzi baths, and for the more adventurous, go onto the nudist area, with one spa and jacuzzi bath. The hotel we found was a bit warm in the sitting area downstairs and the corridors, so the air con could be better in them areas. The wifi is also only in the sitting area which is sometimes slow, and would be better if it was in the rooms and also made available in the pool area.
The resort is lovely which is only 10 - 15 minutes walk away, with only two english bars and the rest Spanish which is great. Have a walk to the castle and go down the main road straight from the hotel to see the Roman villa. The streets are narrow teaming with heritage and array of shops and restaurants/bars. A mixture of other nationalities throughout the hotel as well, with excellent service at reception. For drinks out, at a lower price choose a bar away from the sea front as we found a lovely one outside the Hotel Miami just round the corner run by two lovely Spanish ladies.
We went to Barcelona for a day trip and booked it through Thomsons as it was only 3 Euros more than the local bus at 26 Euros each. The tour guide was very knowledgable and you get some good advice. You also get dropped off in the centre, but it is a long day at 6 hours so be prepared when it is hot as it is very tiring. For all you football people i would do the Nou Camp as well which is another 20 Euros on top, but as non-football fans we didn't bother.
Overall, would we go again.......yes without a doubt!!!!

Room Tip: A pool view is better but if not go for one higher up.

Have just come back from a lovely week staying half board at the the Golden Bahia de Tossa; we had a very relaxing stay in this really very well run hotel. Our maid, Maria, was the best we have ever had; she worked so cheerfully, greeted us every day and left the room immaculate. The food was better than most hotel buffets and especially good was the food where the chefs cooked to order i.e. the pasta dishes and the range of grilled meat and fish. The desserts were very yummy too. The house wine was good and very reasonably priced. Can't think it would be worthwhile to go all- inclusive unless you drink a huge amount as drinks, ice creams etc. were quite cheap. The town of Tossa itself was a delight - it was perfect to promenade through the quaint streets and into the old walled town. The beaches ( there are three) looked beautiful and the sea was clear for swimming and snorkelling but as beach lovers we didn't like the lack of soft sand, the stones and grit were very uncomfortable underfoot. We usually hire a car on holiday but didn't this time as parking seems very difficult and expensive in Tossa. Instead we had two coach excursions, one to Barcelona and the other to Girona- both were excellent and satisfied our wanderlust for the week. Overall, a wonderful lazy week enjoying the sun- miss the aircon at night already. Would recommend both the hotel and the area and would happily return.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool have good views others overlook the street.

Just come back from a week half board at the Golden Bahia. Great hotel in a perfect location (not to far from the beach and the old town around 10 minutes walk)

The food was great lots of choice and they had a chocolate fountain one night!!

A great mixture of guests English, French, Spain, Dutch.

They always had someone in the morning taking towels off sunbeds where people were intending to leave them there all day whilst they went out of the hotel for the day, a real plus

We asked for a quiet room and we got it right at the end of the corridor away from lifts, overlooking the sports pool on a high floor.

The evening entertainment was good and always different, or we would go down into the old town which is really pretty

Top tip; its really easy to make your own way to barcelona hop on the bus (5 minute walk from the hotel) its €23 return and can drop you off one metro stop from the centre

Girona is easy to get to by changing bus at lloret de mar, or getting a direct bus (the direct bus only has two buses there each day)

My only negative points about the hotel were; lack of sunbeds in the afternoon, hotel directed too much towards children at times (maybe make the jet pools by the main pool adult only, beds a bit hard)

Room Tip: ask for a high room with a view of the sports pool, 4th floor or above.

Just got back from a weeks holiday (9th to 16th July) in this hotel. The hotel itself if very good and we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It was very full and definitely a 'family' hotel. It is only the second time we have gone All Inclusive, and found it to be very good. The restaurant was large, but never seemed over full and the food was excellent. Plenty of choice and a great variety of meats, salads, fruit etc. It is about 15 minutes walk from the beach area. If anyone has a mobility problem, then this hotel is not for you as it was very hot during our stay and the walk during the day was rather draining, although walking down to the Old Town in the evening was quite pleasant. There was plenty of entertainment, if you wish to stay in the hotel. As an older couple we found the piano bar more to our taste. Staff, again, were very obliging and professional in this room. The only criticism (by my husband) was that Luciano did not play the piano, but played piano organs. Not really to his taste. Our room was excellent and kept very clean. The only problem I found was the hardness of the mattress. If you have back problems, then you should be OK as it did feel as though a wooden plank had been placed under the mattress. I know one of the other referees did mention that there was plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Unfortunately, perhaps because it was later in the year, we did find getting a sunbed a problem and as for umbrellas, there was definitely a lack of them for everyone who wanted one. But, all in all, we had a very nice holiday and Tossa Town was beautiful. Not changed at all in the 47 year gap of me revisiting it.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the pool area and was excellent. It caught the afternoon...
