“excellent, just what we needed.”
Reviewed May 22, 2011

We sayed at the Tossa Centre hotel opposite the Tossa beach hotel for 3 nights all inclusive as part of a Traveljunky deal. It was excellent. The Ryanair flights were spot on and arrived early.(The bus transfer, £20pp was just awful, we were kept waiting almost 2hrs as various other flights came in until the bus was full. we had no information about this and i was reluctant to leave the coach to return to the airport for the loo incase it left. We were dropped at a bus stop 5 mins walk to the hotel with no directions given). This was the only real negative point.
The Hotel was an easy 2 mins walk to the beach, and close enough to "pop" down for a stroll after dinner. The town itself was lovely and the castle and medieval town a lovely surprise.(There is a little green train to take you up) and there is a very special bar/cafe at the very top at the lighthouse museum, very romantic and breathtaking views. We took a little train tour around the town ( a bit like a Spanish York) for 4 euros which lasted 30 mins and let us see most other hotels and while there may have been only one other hotel a better standard than ours, it was much further from the beach.
The food at the hotel was very adequate, although a bit "samey", that said it was well worth the £40 all inclusive option for the drinks( beers, wine, liquors sangria, local spirits, etc and 3 cocktails) and bar snacks alone.( toasties, chips burgers and hot dogs). The meals were buffet style with bar provided. We were more than satisfied. All meals were taken at the Tossa Beach hotel, but there was a lovely bar and soft entertainment at the Tossa centre hotel too.

On arrival we were a bit disappointed with our room as it was small and overlooked a grotty apartment block. However, for the time we spent in there it was fine (we were told we could swap to the better rooms in the tossa beach opposite for an extra 20 euros a day, but the receptionist said it was noisy with their entertainment). The hotel was very clean and we noticed that all the staff ate in the restaurant which gave us confidence. The service was excellent, the staff being formally dressed and clearing glasses as soon as they were empty. The communal areas of both hotels were first class.
I would urge caution if going to either of Tossa's 2 beaches with children as they shelve deeply close to the waters edge and the current looked very strong. That said, 2 very pretty beaches with a wonderful historical background.
We would definately go back to Tossa AND to either the Beach or Centre hotel as they were so close to the beach and deserve their 4 stars.

Room Tip: ask for a pool view, but could be 20 euros a day.

We paid £164 each for a group of ten girls (all over 28) to stay in this hotel for three nights all inclusive for one of our hen do's. With that in mind we were not expecting a very high standard, so it was probably better than we were expecting.

Positives:
Value wise, it's great, you can't knock it. The alcohol was local spirits but no one got ill and it didn't taste like lighter fluid. The bar staff warmed up a bit once they realised we weren't trouble makers and then showed us some local bars. Probably on a commission but was fine by us!

The location is fine, just a couple o minutes walk to the beach and into the town. Tossa itself is a really pretty town so that's definitely worth doing. Some lovely restaurants too.

The rooms were all nice and clean. Beds etc made every day. Te maid did come in once when I was still in bed and when I asked her to come back she stood there huffing and rolling her eyes but she did it anyway. You get clean towels each day and beds are made so can't complain too much. You don't get a remote control with your tv, you have to go to reception and pay a €30 deposit! But tv is fine and has local radio to play music.

Food is fine - quite typical of one of these places. Different food seemed to be available each night. On our last night we went out for dinner and paid just €20 per head for three courses and half a bottle of wine each. Food was delicious and service was incredible so worth thinking about.

Negatives:
This place is advertised as being "stag and hen" friendly. What they actually mean is "hen and stag prison"! There are so many rules! You're not allowed to make any noise after midnight - it is forbidden! If you come back late, there are security waiting on the road who then escort you to your room hushing you all the way. A number of guests were "fired" from the hotel after making too much noise the night before. The hotel tried to charge one couple €70 as their room was a mess - it had a wet bathroom floor and they had left some pizza on the side. The manager eventually caved in but they were "fired" the next day anyway. Other rules include only allowed to get two drinks in a go, which is fine, unless there a bunch of rowdy men and then they cut it down to one. Served in tiny cups and with a group of ten just means you're up and down all the time. But not a big deal.

Pool is fine, though out of the sun most of the day. Beach nearby is lovely though so that's no an issue. There was also a sister hotel immediately opposite that you could use, got more sun early on in the day.

All in all, it was interesting! Shame that they went with a one size fits all approach as it was clear that we weren't a group of post A-level teenagers looking for sex and drugs. But never mind! It was good value and we had a good time anyway. I would not go back in height of season but it worked for what we were after at this time of year.

This hotel is Great. Room spacious, bathroom has everything you need, bath/shower good size. Balcony overlooking a hedge and staff walkway. Food very good, choice of meat hot and cold salads fish potatoes veg, there was something for everyone. Puddings, fresh fruit, ice cream cakes. For the price we paid we were very pleased. Will return to this hotel. Staff always cleaning, one day they were cleaning the fence!! this hotel is spotless. Short walk from the beach. Tossa is a lovely place to stay, it is quiet so if your looking for night life it may not be the place to go.

This is a very clean and friendly hotel. The food is good and the surroundings are modern. Bedrooms are quiet (in April) and comfortable. Tossa de Mar is an excellent resort if your looking for an original Spanish town.

Tossa Beach Hotel
The Hotel itself is lovely. The rooms have everything you need – deposit needed for TV remote (which you don’t need as TV works without it and there is a service charge of 4 Euro per day for the fridge).
My room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool with a balcony. The bathroom was great and had a power shower. The room itself was spotless and cleaned every day.

The pool area is “smallish” and sunny in the afternoon. The bar is big and spacious and again extremely clean. The restaurant is also spotless and constantly cleaned. Food is fine – it’s not British so don’t go expecting it but plenty of choice.

This place is not great for kids – there was not a lot of entertainment at night for them, however don’t take my work for it as we travelled off season at the end of April – the summer may be different.

Tossa is absolutely beautiful but very quiet – again this may change in the summer months.

If you are looking for a cheap quiet getaway then I would highly recommend this hotel and area. If you need anymore information then give me a shout.

Room Tip: Request a pool facing room on 2nd or 3rd floor

Tossa Beach and Tossa Centre, basically 2 hotels as one just a few steps across the road from each other.. You can use facilities of both. TC guests eat in TB.The cleanliness of the hotels is excellent.I thought the food was excellent value for money. You would have to be extremely fussy to not like it. You would pay quite a lot in England to eat the sea food served here.Prawns ,mussels, calamari, different types of fish, excellent. Breakfast fine, lunch fine. The white wine is ok, beer ok red wine passable. The bar staff are lovely, smiley and friendly. Different (loud)entertainment for families in TB hotel eg,disco, karaoke, parrot show etc .In TC hotel the two friendly entertainment guys are working hard despite having no equipment at all not even a microphone. Choice of quiz or bingo. The rooms in TB hotel are perfectly ok ,basic and clean. We got one without a balcony on the ground floor ,all the others seemed to have balconies, didn't paticularly bother usas we didnt pay a lot. However, the only problem with being on this floor is the noise level as everyone passes here on the way in /out of reception, bar and dining room so dont expect a minutes peace,it sooo loud. Credit due though the noise stops at 12.00 and all is well until about 7.00 ish ? Our only complaint was that after about 3 days we had the most horrendous sewage smell in the room. Politely informed the Manager but his response was less than adequate...he said there was no blockage etc, put some green cleaning fluid down and said if it still smells INTHE MORNING ???i will try to move you. (The hotel was practically empty.????) We had already been out of the room for 3 hours in the afternoon due to the smell. We just thought it was a waste of time complaining as he appeared to be less than interested. His attitude really let the hotel down.He never even bothered to enquire if things were ok after the event despite us seeing him on a daily basis. We did not let it spoil things for us and dealt with the problem by constantly leaving the light on to extract the smell and leving the taps running whilst we were in the room. All other aspects of hotel absolutely fine.Tossa is lovely but very quiet.Absolutely fabulous tapas at Casa Carlus (3 dishes and a glass of wine about 8 or 9 pounds)just before you go up the slope to the castle.Wish we had found it earlier ,only found it the day before we went.

Room Tip: ground floor rooms extremely noisy
