Just had a 17 day stay at this apart hotel on second visit. It remains a good all round hotel with good standard rooms in an ideal location right on the beach. As last year we found the rooms are kept very clean by the room staff with towels changed every day and linen changed regularly. Some of the staff appear a bit on the dour side which is off putting but I think the Portuguese tend to be on the serious side and are not big smilers. We had a front sea facing room on the first floor overlooking the snack bar restaurant which is not ideal as you need to be at least on floor two or above to gain the best sea and beach views although these rooms do have the afternoon sun.We really like this hotel and have already booked for three weeks next year. Incidently they now have flat screen TVs with a wide choice of English speaking channels including BBC & ITV

Room Tip: If you have a sea/beach facing room request 3rd/4th floor and dont have rooms 121,123 & 125 as t...

Visited this Dunamar 5 years ago. Spend there 2 weeks and didn't want to leave. Room is spacious with seperate living room. Negative thing was that floor wasn't very clean after cleaning. Maybe cleaners didn't change soapwater too often. Also balcony was always little dirty.

Pool area is quite small but ok for the size of hotel. Good pool for small children and adults pool was ok too.

Best thing was that Dunamar is situated right on the fabolous beach. The beach continues kilometers and is quite wide too. So there is plenty of room to everybody.

Breakfast was great. Very basic but just what we wanted to eat. Coffee machine was great too.

We stayed in Dunamar during 10 days. The apartment was okay, but the beds, matrasses and pillows were of a bad quality as well as the bath towels. The cleaning ladies did a great job by keeping the place tidy. The male receptionists kept staring into their computerscreens and were not very helpful. Sausages and bacon at breafast looked revulting, fresh fruit was of a good standard. People allowed their kids being very noisy at the swimming pool side till late at night. Yet, in general we had a good time in Dunamar.

Stayed 10 nights Monte Gordo in Duna Mar Hotel with Husband and 4 teen age daughters, has fantastic location, friendly staff, modern clean appartments and great facilities that you have to pay for, 15 Euro to use the Gym, 20 Euro to use Spa, Sauna+ Jacuzzi, No Kettle, Indoor pool opens BTW 1000-1300 and 1500-1900 (No early Morning swim), Small primitive TV, 10 Euros for 24 hr Internet access, No Laundry facilities (They will take your dirty washing 3 Euros load) therefore we were very dissapointed.

After holidaying for 9 years next door, at Vasco da Gama hotel, thought we would change to something more modern. Accommodation excellent except for the museum TV - tiny screen
and only 2 English speaking channels - BBC world and parts of Eurosport. Loads of TV
channels for Portuguese/Spanish and Dutch guests.

Only stayed B&B. If we had been Dutch/Portuguese/Spanish, would have enjoyed the selection of cheeses and cold meats on offer,. However, being British, we wanted their advertised hot breakfast - what a let down! Every day there was tepid/cold greasy bacon with equally cold/.tepid scrambled egg and baked beans - totally uneatable so had to exist on (strange) cereals and bread.

Compared to the BIG screen multi British TVs and excellent breakfasts at Vasco da Gama,
we were somewhat disappointed. Raised these points verbally and on hotel review sheet as we shall be holidaying twice next year (as usual) and would return to Dunamar if the problems above were sorted out. The only half answer I received was that as great majority of their guests and fron Spain/Portugal plus a great many from the Netherlands who were happy with cold breakfats and none-British TV channels, there were no plans to alter things.

Gave them 3 weeks to let me have a full answer by email and give me a quote for rooms for 6 people for 2 weeks next year. No reply received - possibly because we are British and have British tastes ? Have now booked to return to Vasco Da Gama hotel.

Room Tip: Go for full sea view rooms and if booking direct ask for proper pillows and a modern TV.

We have just returned from a 12 day stay at this apart hotel and last year we stayed at the Vasco De Gama Hotel next door but enjoyed this better. We had a very clean, spacious one bed apartment with all the facilities provided...Room maids were exceptional and kept our room spotless..fresh towels each day and linen changed regularly..Reception staff very polite and helpful and the whole hotel was to a very high standard...Very few British tourists but that suited us as the guests were from many countries....Access from the rear of the hotel right onto the miles of open beach which we walked on for hours which is so enjoyable.
Restaurants very close by and everywhere is so accessable although the area in my opinion is not suited for disabled guests as it is not wheelchair friendly..Bikes available from the hotel at 4 Euros, bus stop 20 metres away and public transport is very cheap to local resorts for days out....Plenty of places to visit including a 1.65 Euro trip on the ferry across the river estuary to Spain..Plenty of restaurants in Monte Gordo offering three course 12 Euro tourist menus but get off the main streets and try the small local places for a real treat.
All round this aparthotel offers excellent facilities and we will definately be re visiting.

Room Tip: book early but not all beach facing rooms have full sea/beach views

Premises right at the beach; also great pool. Apartments are cleaned everyday. Monte Gordo is a nice place for older people and people with children, that love the beach or pool.

Room Tip: Pool/beach view is a plus (instead of street)
