Hotel is relatively small with 42 room but personable and friendly. Lots of UK northerns and so always a good laugh in the bar. Staff are very friendly and very helpful. Rooms are very clean spacious although basic (take your own travel kettle) includes TV and fridge large bathroom and balcony. We stayed half board and have no complain over the food which was well flaoured with a variety of options to suit all. Easy walk to the beach which is wonderful. We hired a car from Faro airport and Monte Gordo is on the boarder of Spain and so you could nip across for Tapas or visit Seville which is closer than Lisbon. We went to Travia which is a beautiful cultural city not to be missed. Then Alcoutim is a pretty village on the banks of the Guadiana river, about 40km north of Vila Real de Santo António is worth a visit. I would certainly stay at Casablanca Inn again

Having booked and then after reading some poor reports on this hotel we were concerned that we would wish we had chosen elsewhere to stay in Montegordo.
Quite the opposite - we found the hotel excellent offering us really great accommodation.
The staff all spoke English and went out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant offered many choices if it be for breakfast or dinner. Our room which was quite spacious was cleaned daily with fresh new towels. A bonus in our room being a television where you are able to watch BBC1 & ITV1.
Being just minutes from the beach made it perfect for us.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front appear to see more of the sun.

On our first visit to Portugal my wife and I stayed at the Casablanca for 2 weeks.A great family owned hotel that may not be 4* but definitly 3* plus.
Brilliant friendly staff who all spoke English, and nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms cleaned daily with fresh linen daily.
Good buffet selection for breakfast, and dinner allways plenty to choose from on the menu.
Ricardo and Frederico are excellent wine/bar persons who allways had a smile and welcoming rapport with customers.
The largest beach on the Algarve is just 200 metres away-bliss.
Visit Ed and Willens on the front near the Intermache mini market for good Dutch hospitality and great food, also check out Mobys bar for English footy and great toasties.
Top Tip -Buy an umbrella and two beach mats for total of 10 euros, much cheaper than paying 15-18 Euros a day for sun beds.
Best holiday we have had for years, we will definitly return to the Casablanca.

Room Tip: Hotel has only about 6 rooms with a sea view, well worth asking for 223,224,225,123,124 or 125.

Let me first start with the town of Monte Gordo. It is very flat & therefore great for pushing around wheel chairs even down to the beach, but (&there always is a BUT) they don’t seem to have any dog wardens & most residents seem to let their dogs roam freely, which produces a lot of what comes out of the back end of a dog. Mind you there is an army of, mainly women, street cleaners & for all there is not a lot of litter there is a lot of dog mess & cig buts stuck in between the crazy paving/cobbles.
Now onto the Cassablanca Inn, of which they have three dogs, one that is let out to roam & the other two are taken out on leads & they have lots of cats, of which some of the hotel guests know by name because they come here year after year. Food is average & with a 3 course meal for 8.95 Euros is not bad, but we only did one night as we usually do a different restaurant (& there are plenty of them) every night. There is ‘happy hour’ with a 15% discount from noon to 15.00 hours but a large beer & a small beer still costs 4.60 Euros when there are loads of bars offering large beers at 2 Euros there is no ‘saving’. The breakfasts were good with a good choice of hot & cold with excellent orange juice with loads of make your own toast or excellent bread rolls & croissants with tea, coffee & hot milk plus cereals.
We won’t be going back because we never do because we always think there maybe something even better ‘just down the road’. We had room 114 which is just above the staff entrance which meant the staff having to input a code (in & out) to get thru the 6 foot wrought iron gate which most of the staff could not close quietly without slamming it, but that also goes for most of the hotel residents who don’t seem to be able to close their doors without slamming, but this is a worldwide problem. There is also no grab handle to steady yourself when getting in & out of the bath/shower.

Room Tip: When out walking watch out for the dog poo, or whatever the Portugese is for it.

Just returned from 9 nights at the Casablanca inn was not impressed the room we stayed in was very dark and damp the bathroom had no extractor fan so had to leave the door open. They had cats and a dog in the hotel the cats spent most of the time on the seating area I was not impressed how this hotel has got 4 stars I do not know, This is the first time we have stayed here and will not be returning, the swimming pool leaves a lot to be desired and definitely need more sun beds on the terrace for the amount of guests. We usually stay at the Alcazar hotel which is only 3 stars but much better.

Myself and my husband have just returned back from our hoilday sept 2013, this is our second time we have stayed at Cassablanca Inn, the room we had was cleaned every day with fresh white soft towels, and clean bed linen. The bathroom is quiet spaceous and does have a hairdryer so no need to bring one, The room we had was small but nice it also had A/C which worked good and tv and fridge, and we had a lovely sea view. Which is just 5mins walk so not far at all to the beach. We went B/B and the breakfast is now a buffet style rather like last time when you had to order, I prefer the buffet as you do have a choice for hot or cold breakfast and plenty to choose from and we both found the food very nice. The staff there are friendly and will do there best to help you if you need it, the receptionist was lovely and remembered us from last time. The bar staff were also really nice and freindly. The pool is small but lovely, and always cleaned every day, only a few sun beds round the pool area but there is also a sun terrace with more sun beds for you. We had a lovely relaxing hoilday and would go again.

Room Tip: If you need to change your stirling there is no bureaux exchange so you need to go to the bank and y...
