Flam can be very busy especially when the Cruise ships are in port. We ate here on a couple of evenings to avoid the crowds and found the meals to be of a consistent standard with a pleasant, confident level of service. Also has the best view of any dining establishment in Flam - straight down the Fjord.

It was worth walking a little bit further to find this restaurant. Fabulous view, quiet ambiance, less crowd...and the menu was quite extensive and the food was fabulous. There was a bit of everything and even vegan/vegetarian food. The service was good even in the patio area. If I could just erase the monstrous cruise ship that was parked the harbor from my memories, then it would have been a perfect lunch!

First off, the view is absolutely stunning! The marina is positioned at the very end of Sognefjord, and the restaurant is at the front of the building, so the view reaches all the way past Aurland to where the fjord turns east. The enclosed patio area had 2-person tables right against the windows with larger tables at an elevated level behind that. Although the heat lamps were on, the patio area was a bit cooler than the indoor seating, so while it was comfortable without a jacket, you might not want to wear your lightest layers on a cool day.

The dinner menu consists of fairly typical Norwegian cafe fare: fish soup, fish & chips, a few pizzas, chicken souvlaki, pasta bolognese... The fish & chips didn't look very impressive, but they tasted great. The pizzas got especially good marks from our resident Scandinavian pizza critic. Overall, everyone in our party was satisfied. The prices (~200 NOK per main) are a bit higher than average for a Norwegian cafe, but that's to be expected in such a tourist hub.

The breakfast menu is quite limited. The price is fairly low (75-95 NOK) but the portions are pretty small. My only real complaint is that the service for breakfast was incredibly slow and we were starting to wonder if they'd forgotten to tell the kitchen about our order.

Our gluten-free group member was happy with the pizza and dinner and was able to request gluten free toast with the egg & bacon at breakfast.

Just to start - I am Norwegian. And actually working as a guide for VIP's that have more than enough to sustain even pricy meals here. But a burger priced at 245 NOK actually makes me embarrased. For a 190 you get a mighty fine meal in a superbly rated place in Bergen. Then we talk about meat of tenderloin - not a crappy burger that you only buy because YOU HAVE TO EAT!!!

Flåm is more and more turning into the same kind of tourist trap as the Norwegians themselves tries to avoid when traveling themselves. You know that old story about being hauled into a carpet store in Istanbul and where you cant escape before before you have purchased a magic flying carpet???

I dine here just because I need food and to have first han info for my clients. And really - this is so NON RECOMMEDABLE that it actually sets a standard for how low a chef can sink. More or less the worse - the same is a fact all over Flåm and more and more of my guests are dining in other places like Aurland or Voss where the prices are normalized. Simply DONT dine in Flåm! Bring a lunchpacket in stead, and opt to have a nice dinner when out of this place. You see - the view is free of charge......

We ate here a lot while staying in the apartments. A good selection of dishes well presented and tasting good.

Breakfast - standard offer but just what we wanted in the morning. Coffees and hot chocolate were very good.

Starters - we tried the local cheese and meat platter, nice including the local brown cheese

Lunch/ Dinner - really happy to get back from a walk or cycle and tuck in here. Spare ribs were very good, pizzas, club sandwich, pasta, chicken skewers all very good. Portions are satisfying.

Children’s menu available - hot dog was good choice

Local selection of beers along with a nice choice of wines.

All the staff very welcoming and helpful. A good place to stop and grab a bite
