Owner description: Experience the very best of nature, wildlife, history and local slowfood Fjord Norway has to offer! The RIB boat tour will show you the Unesco listed Nærøyfjord up close and personal. The hike goes from the fjord to the goatfarm Leim (360m amsl) with breathtaking views along the way. Enjoy a tasty local lunch based on goat produce and a tour of this traditional farm. Car back to Flam.

“Exhilarating ride up the fjords”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

We were on the last ride for the year in October 2012. Going up the fjords in the Zodiac boat was exhilarating and cold! The staff answered emails promptly and were very friendly. Honestly, if you are going all that way to see the fjords this is the only way to do it - up close and personal. Our guide told us lots of stories of the way people lived along the fjord and maneuvered the boat closer to wildlife or a waterfall etc. I highly recommend Fjord Safari.

“Fun on the RIB boat!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

Whilst staying in Flåm (we thoroughly recommend the Fretheim Fjordhytter for unforgettable accommodation), we decided that a trip via water around the fjord was a must-do experience. A little research on the Internet led me to contact the Flåm Guide Service/Fjord Safari people. I exchanged emails with a lovely, very helpful member of staff, Torgeir, who helped us to decide upon the RIB boat trip.

Fjord Safari is based right on the harbour front at Flåm and is easy to find. You are provided with a warm, waterproof all-in-one oversuit to wear on top of your clothing, which contains a floatation device. There are also overboots, googles, gloves and hats with earflaps available. The staff strongly recommend that you make use of the googles, gloves and hats provided and we were extremely glad that we took their advice. Since the RIB boats travel pretty fast, the cold wind and driving rain make these accessories a necessity, believe me!

The RIB boats are small enough for you to get a great view, wherever you are sitting. They're also pretty comfortable. Be aware that the speed can mean a bit of a bumpy ride at times but that made it even more fun as far as were were concerned! The scenery is amazing, especially travelling down the famous Naeroyfjord, one of the narrowest stretches. Regular stops are made so you can take photos of the most spectacular parts or if the friendly guide spots anything interesting. (There were seals and a golden eagle on our trip.)

We were very glad indeed that we chose Fjord Safari and the RIB boat in particular. During the main season, there are a variety of different options available, some of which sounded extremely interesting indeed, including a stopover to taste the famous cheese in the picturesque village of Undredal. (If you aren't able to take this trip via boat, then make sure you drive over to Undredal as it's a beautiful little place and the cheese is indeed fantastic, particularly the sweet brown cheese.)

Fjord Service is highly recommended!

“heritage fjord safari”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Today we spent 2.5 wonderful hours on the Fjord Safari Heritage tour. It doesn't include a hike like the mini safari does so we spent the entire time on the water and it was wonderful!!!! We were so very fortunate to have a calm, sunny day for our excursion. Having just jumped off the Flam Railway we were excited to see the fjords up close and personal. When we arrived from the train we only had to scan the harbor to find their location right on the warf. They dressed us up in outer wear, including gloves and goggles and off we went with about 6 others. Brit Mari was our guide and she was excellent. We sped off to investigate the fjords and she was great about stopping to tell us about the local points of interest with plenty of time for picture taking. It really is a spectacular way to view the beautiful scenery and a highlight of our trip to Norway!
