“A pleasant stay there”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

There are only two hotels in Flam. We chose this one based on other TA travellers reviews and we are happy about our decision. This hotel is newer. It is by the fjord. You get a nice view of the water and mountains. However, there is normally a cruise ship ducked right in front of the hotel. But the ship only stays there for a few hours during the day. The room is clean, but relatively small. The queen bed is actually made of two single beds. If you are not careful, you could fall off the middle of the bed! Staff is really friendly. We got there late and all the restaurants in Flam were closed. We talked to the owner of this hotel's restaurant. she was very kind to find us food in the kitchen. The brewery is very cool and fun. You should definately try it. Overall, we'd recommend this hotel to the travellers.

Room Tip: As for a room at the corner towards the bridge, you get a nice view of the water and mountain and it...

The location is perfect for exploring the Fjords. After a long drive from Oslo through incredible tunnels and over amazing climbs through breathtaking scenery we arrived to a very warm welcome and inviting reception area. The room was lovely. Small but that is to be expected in Norway; the balcony was a great extension to the room and a good place to take in the awe inspiring landscape surrounding this hotel. The bathroom was modern with a lovey shower. We were amazed to wake up on our last morning to see an enormous cruise ship had arrived and parked right alongside the hotel as we had not heard it at all. I am pleased that we were able to enjoy two mornings without it though as it really did spoil the view.

There is a micro brewery onsite which is another nice touch. There is a fire pit with seating around and the atmosphere was great. We had the taster menu of local produce and it was a nice way to identify our favourite for the next night. We were disappointed our first night that the restaurant closes so early, so we missed dinner and the shops were also closed. We went our second night and it was the most expensive meal we have ever had. It was OK but nothing special.

Our stop in this hotel in Flam just couldn't have been better. Besides the unbelievable place where this hotel is located, it is a very cozy familial hotel where you'll feel as though you were home! Our room was really mountain like, with an spectacular view to the fjord and an absolutely inviting balcony, where you could have a cup of tea or hot chocolate enjoying that magical atmosphere. The furniture is really nice and matches perfectly with Flam's spirits! You've got an electric kettle, coffee, tee and chocolate for free in your room. Wireless didn't work amazingly, but it's done its duty... The view of the room is once again incredible, and you can stay there relaxing in the comfortable armchaires disposed in the little living room of this appartment. Bed was perfect and illumination as well. The only problem of the room was the bathroom, which was too small and didn't have soap in bars, only the liquid one, which I am not really fond of... Breakfast was incredible!! Loads of varieties of norwegian food, cheeses, fishes, wonderful breads, yogurts, cereals, fruits and stuff! What was also perfect in our stay was the opportunity to have dinner and enjoyb" atmosphere in the brewery (which is also a bar and a restaurant) of the hotel! Wonderful food, beer and very nice fournishing and decoration! Everything so mountainlike and amazing that made us feel as though we'd been in a fairy tale! Loved Flam, loved the hotel, loved everything!

We stayed there for my 40th birthday in Aug. The location is great if you want to bounce around the Fjords. Its also perfect for the Flamsbana railway. The rooms were updated and had a modern scandinavian, woody feel.
Clean, bright and fun.

Rooms very full and we have to adjust our trip to stop-over at Flamsbrygga. Nice walk/ jog around. Very convenient to us using public transports like boat, train and bus.
Stayed in room 204. Picturesque.

Room Tip: Rooms 1xx on ground level, no privacy. Room 204 away from giant cruise ships; both mountain and fjo...

Arriving here in the off-season just before Easter, the town was pretty much empty and services were at a minimum. That said, the lovely receptionist took note that I had a bit of a scratchy throat in the morning after breakfast (the only one I had in Norway that didn't make my mouth water), and appeared at my door, to my surprise, an hour or so later, with a choice of teas to make me feel better. What a thoughtful thing to do! She also shared a bit of local culture and gave good tips on where to go for a scenic walk.

Of course the only thing I can complain about is the price...but Flam is expensive and after a night in Balestrand we regreted we didn't spend another night there since the fjord views were much better plus it had more activities, but we didnt know so we got traped in the tourist trap :-)

The rooms was nice and the hotel had a nice, warm, cozy feeling. Breakfast was also yummy.
