Boutique Hotel Skamnos
Ranked #1 of 11 Hotels in Arachova
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We stayed in this place only for one night and on the first week of April, so the hotel was empty. If you are on your way to Delfi and not on the season, maybe it's better to stay in the center of Arachova. However if you stay for few days and on the season, this is a great place!
Nice room with fireplace, balcony, good breakfast, great view and a lot of facilities. Abouve all, Kaloussa was very friendly and did all to meet our needs.

My wife and I stayed at the Boutique Skamnos hotel for one night, on our way from the Pindos mountains to Athens in early April 2013. The hotel is located in a quiet location, with great views of Mount Parnassus.
To begin with, the facilities were fantastic - room was large and comfortable, great view from the balcony, and warm feeling overall.
The thing that made this place stand out was Kaloussa, how welcomed us and took care for us. They even made us dinner when we realized it's too late to find anything open nearby.

Note that the location also means that in shoulder season finding a restaurant open might be tricky.

This is a great place to stay for visiting Delphi, Mount Parnassus and the wonderful Greek country side, only a couple of hours away from Athens.

We would love to come back!

The hotel was amazing!

I travel all the time, spending from 3-5 nights a week sleeping in different beds / hotels! For years my job has been 80% travelling, so I have stayed in big international chains, to luxurious resorts, to massive complexes, to remote boutique hotels.... Skamnos was of the best ever!

Although we went for the snowboarding adventure, we ended up spending one day just in the hotel! With an amazing breakfast area, where you feel you are sitting outside, an indoor heated pool overlooking the valley, billiard room, gym, massage room, spa, sauna and cinema... we had to explore the hotel too.

Our room was very roomy, with a fireplace, a balcony looking onto the mountain tip with the lifts... We were greater with the free grazing horses and the hotels 5 month old puppy jumping around.... What a free feeling we were embraced with!

The hotel was the closest to the slopes possible... Just a short 10 minute drive...! The main village was also close by and with lots of tavernas just minutes away.... Good times were also possible to find in other nearby villages!

Winter, snow fun on the slopes!
Summer, mountain bike downhill fun!

The hotel management was incredibly friendly and knew exactly when to get involved and when to just let us get on with our day... The service was amazing, the rooms were very clean and the heating was always on!

My boy friend and I are not Greek, yet we choose to live in Greece and commute abroad for work. Our weekends we explore Greece and Skamnos is on the list for many more return trips....

Skamnos is one of the few hotels in the world we will go back to with huge excitement!

We were a multinational group of three families, based in Munich, with eight children in total and we stayed here for five nights in the winter season (weekends not included). Ideal location for reaching the ski resort quickly, and as a starting point for short excursions to Delphi, Arachova, Galaxidi and Agoriani. Both parents and children enjoyed our stay here since the excellent hotel facilities (swimming pool, billiard room, projection room, fireplace lounges) offer the possibility for a plurality of common activities. The manager of the family run hotel, Kalousa, is a person who has travelled and lived in various places around the world and knows very well how to make guests feel like at home combining the Greek hospitality with a high standard of professionalism. We'll definitely come back, either with the whole family or without the children!

We stayed here for just one night while not on high season (so I can't tell how this would be during snow period when Arachova will be drawn in visitors). I loved it, it's some kms away from the village but it's so worth it, you wake up in the morning to face the forest, while Arachova is not so... foresty as a village itself.

The room 101 was beauuutiful, spacious and clean, nicely decorated, there were two balcony doors with different views (corner room), the courtains were blocking the sun completely which helps you sleep deeply the next morning after a night of great food and tsipouro. The mattress felt a bit hard at the beginning but it proved ok, we slept like babies. There was a small tv and a small refrigerator. Nothing really bad to say about the room in general except the walls' insulation, hence one star less than excellent which I understand is a bit strict of myself: We could hear the next room's guy snoring, no kidding, probably their bed was exactly on the other side of the wall but, wow, it was like he was in our room - this was annoying but really after 5 minutes we got used to it and lived like usual, maybe after that he was more annoyed than us.

The breakfast was ok, not much of a variety but everything was good, I had some of everything that is: boiled egg, bread (great) with cheese and ham, some delicious small cheese pies, jam and butter, I think there also were cereals. They made fresh coffee according to my appetite which I think is not usual (while some hotels have this filter coffee and that's it) and it's great. Excellent small outside balcony (just two tables) allowed us to enjoy our coffee in the fresh mountain air, just enjoying the view.

There is a swimming pool, we didn't have time to enjoy since we stayed just for one night. There were summer slippers in the room provided from the hotel in order to use in the pool. It seemed lovely from our balcony but I didn't also see anybody else using it, too bad.

People were friendly, the guy at the reception was helpful when we asked for a restaurant recommendation and they also allowed for a few hours delay for our checking out.

Last note just because I was trying to find water in the night while I shouldn't have: you will not find a bottle of water in the room but be informed that you don't have to run to the village for water, since the hotel has spring water running from the taps, you can drink and enjoy from the bathrooms tap as well.

Overall I enjoyed staying here very much, I wish I will be back sometime.

Room Tip: Try the second flοor facing the forest mountain, and why not try asking if there is a room with the...

Thank you so much Maria for your long statements. Actually we try to do our best offering the highest possible service to fully adequate price. You had an extra strong offer so we do think that the variety of our breakfast was good enough, not to mention that most of it as you also know is bio which is hard to find in our days and if so very expensive. It is also obvious that hotel rooms are impossible to be 100% isolated. There is a wall and a door which is the border to your room so I had the same experience 3 nights ago as I was in Saloniki with a very modest spa hotel. Besides this we loved your comments and we will try to be better for our clients!
Wish you the best

An amazing place to stay and experience beauty. Every corner of this hotel, everything that you see is made with love, taste and caring. The room to sleep, the amazing veranda to have your coffee, the incredible pool, the horses, the SPA, the view, the food, everything is just fantastic.
And in all this beauty add the loving , caring and kindness of the people who own, run and take care your needs.
If you are looking for a small paradise, with the most value for money offer, there is nothing to think or search for. You will enjoy the mountain of Parnasos and the sacred place of Delfi, and at the same time you will love the experience of relaxing inside of the hotel.
