Serengeti is a safari park that you drive through with your own vehicle. There are lions, girraffes, tigers, baboons, elefants, along with many others. We've been twice and both times, our family of 4 (kids ages 4 and 7) loved it!

The different areas are sectioned off and it is very safe so don't be alarmed by some of the pics or reviews.

After you drive through the safari, there is a small amusement park that is also very much worth it. There are some very nice rides, especially for families with younger (12 and below) children.

I would highly recommend this place!

I recommend this attraction to everyone! Wether rain or shine, you will definitely have a great time in this Safari tour, in the middle of Germany :) My fiancé and I went there on a Saturday, and we were so amazed by the beauty of the place, and the overall experience that we went the next day too, and tried to convince as many of our friends as possible to tag along. We drove our own car into the park - which has a speed restriction, but if you really want to enjoy the place, you will most likely have to drive in 1st gear all through. A special tip: wash the car before going, or at least wash the windows - otherwise in some of the park's areas the pictures (through closed windows) will loose a big percentage of their magic due to the dirt on the windows. Also, check the park's website, and download the special "driver's ticket" which allows the driver of the car to enter the park for free.

Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen is a nice park with a lot of different animals which you can perfectly view from your own car. Ofcourse it is also possible to drive by bus through the park. The kids found the giraffes very cool, also the lions and the tigers.
Furthermore there is a small park with a rollercoaster etc. It;s a perfectly spend day but don't expect too much

The Serengeti park is a mix of ZOO with drive through department and amusement park with some show programs.

The zoo seemed to be well kept, the animals looked healthy and active, even though (too) many drive through customers fed them whatever trash, even from the tour busses. It was nice to get close to he animals. The park looked fresh, so there likely is enough space per animal.

The amusement park side was a bit worn out, some of the devices had clearly seen their best days decades ago. The height reguirements for younger drivers seemed a lot different form those in nearby Tivoli and Legoland, and unusually strict at that. So if your junior is under 140 cm and 10 years, be prepared for some disapointments here.

The Serengeti Park in Germany is part safari, part zoo and part amusement park. The entrance fee was about 30 euro per person including parking and their worthless bus tour.

First it's very unclear what kind of tickets are available. The parking lot is a huge mess. We walked around the parking lot for 30 minutes looking for the safari bus and entrance to the park. No signs and no help at all.

On entrance you will be asked if you want to take a bus safari. Somebody advised us to go with the bus because they tell stories about the animals and explain things. They will charge 3,50 Euro extra per person if you want to take their bus. The bus drives super fast and before you even get the chance to see an animal you're already in the next area of the safari. The bus was very old, worn and dirty. Huge disappointment, worst safari park ever. If you go, go with your own car or you will not see any animals.

After the safari we entered the amusement park/zoo and it was just like the bus we drove on. Extremely old and worn. It's clear this park has not been renovated in the last 30 years and has seen better days. All the rides are old and the themes, like their Aqua Safari and Jungle Safari, don't make any sense at all. It just made me laugh because the ideas for the rides were weird and surreal.

If you want to know what an amusement park and zoo 50 years ago would feel like, go to the Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen! We will never visit this park again, that's for sure.
