Really nice and helpful hosts and the main building and breakfast room are very comfortable and clean. Our bedroom on the top floor with the jacuzzi bath which was large and well furnished and a very comfortable bed. The only downside was the bathroom which is in need of refurbishment and at this price point (170€ per night) not acceptable. I am sure that this will get addressed but meanwhile ask for another room!

Room Tip: See review.

This hotel is charming! It's beautifully decorated and comfortable, and the owner's couldn't have been more gracious. We were offered a complementary drink when we arrived, and when they realized we were traveling by train, they drove us back to the train station when we left. It is located on the outer edge of the town of Spa, which I would also like to highly recommend (esp. to my fellow Americans, who seem not to have discovered it). Being were the term 'spa' comes from, there are waters to take, great hiking, and good cycling. Hotel l'Ecrin d'O was the perfect base from which to explore.

We stayed at this hotel as we were in Belgium to watch the Tour de France which was finishing a stage in Liege. We couldn't get a room in Liege and after finding this place I am so pleased we couldn't. This hotel is lovely and I wished we could have stayed longer than one night. The owners were extremely attentive greeting us with a glass of Cava and snacks on arrival, booking a restaurant for us and showing us every detail in our rooms. The location is lovely and breakfast was relaxing with everything you could wish for. Parking was right outside the front door. I would thoroughly recommend this place the attention to detail is second to none and great value for money.

We stayed at Hotel l'Ecrin d'O overnight whilst we explored Spa and were delighted at our choice. Thierry and Aurore are wonderful hosts - nothing is too much trouble. Their suggestion of a restaurant, Le Petit Baigneur, by Lac de Warfaaz, was perfect. Our room was huge and the beautifully appointed bathroom had a spa bath. The building is delightful, retaining its charm from the early 1900's but having been sympathetically updated to modern standards. We had two balconies off our room and downstairs is a very comfortable sitting room where we were served our complimentary welcoming drink. Breakfast was excellent - so many choices. We very much look forward to returning to this gem of a hotel - five star service.

This was a hotel pick not made personally by me but by a close friend and travel mate but oh, she could not have chosen better. Calling it a hotel is perhaps an overstatement, since it is a nice cozy beautiful house converted into a six-bedroom lodge. The owners – we only met Thierry – was very nice and friendly and greeted us with a welcome drink and tips for dinner. Our room on the first floor was named Pierre le Grand upon tsar Peter the Great, who made an appearance on Spa on the XVII century. It is a very spacious suite with an adjacent TV room equipped with a sofa bed suitable for kids or a threesome group. We break our fast the next morning with delicious nibbles, toast, jams, local orange and apple juice. Nothing exaggerated, just to the point. The hotel is not within a walking distance to town and to the funicular towards the baths. The most famous and conspicuous belongs to a world chain. I was afraid at the beginning wondering whether my friend should have chosen a closer pick, but there is nothing better than NOT staying in a chain hotel. It is highly recommended to book in advance a gastro restaurant or else rely on chance to have a reasonable dinner. Make no mistake, Spa has many restaurants, but it seems all are fully booked on Fridays and Saturdays.

Room Tip: First floor, with terrasse.
