Hotel location is just off the edge of the main roundabout where a bridge crosses the river. Rather than driving a considerable distance round the town to come down the steep one-way street to reach the hotel you can stop on the roundabout and reverse a few meters while you book in. The nearest parking is disc controlled, there is a free car park locals use at the other end of the shortish main shopping street, or just over the bridge.
When we arrived the hotel was shut with a notice to see the chef in the restaurant, also shut, or phone a number. Within a couple of minutes the chef arrived who spoke french, italian, german, dutch and other languages, but very little english, though we managed ok! The receptionist on our checkout spoke much better english.
Although the hotel is in the old centre of town the room was quite modern, clean, decent bathroom, and what you would expect from a lower priced central hotel.
The ground floor is an italian restaurant with extensive menu, good food, reasonable prices, but less than attentive service. Breakfast is served here and is typical continental fare.More
