Simply delicious. Great quality for modest price. Friendly and personal service. Real must-do! And the rest is blablabla. (Must fill up to 100 characters)

We made a last minute decision to go to Blankenberge and were lucky to get a table here. If it wouldn't have been for the reservation, we would have been deterred by the outside look. Its' somewhere between a euphemistic rustique and shabby...
The inside though is, as other reviewers wrote, different from the ordindary Blankenberge restaurant.
After some discussions with hte owner, we all went for the Northsea bouillabaisse. This proved to be an excellent choice, with plenty of fresh fish and shellfish. If you go for fish on the menu, you know it'll be more expensive than meat. However, a fish menu at the Griffioen doesnt break the bank.

Usually we went to the seaboulevard to have lunch or dinner in Blankenberge. I think we will change this habit :-)

Michel's place (maitre D) is the place to be if you want fresh fish in Blankenberge.
Any dish on the menu will not disappont you, ever!
Michel is an amateur copper welder/artist and some of his fabrications are 'inspiring'. However, the food is top prio here!
As a recommendation, don't go for the house white, but have a look at the incredibly priced carbonnieux on the wine list.
His daughter can be quite assertive, but hell, give her some push-back (she'll enjoy it :)).

The entrance is perhaps not so inviting, the interior is really original with wood and a big artistic accent (of the owner himself, a little bit Gaudini style!). But once you 're here, the taste of pure regional and old fashioned dishes...with a touch of originality...and this based on the best and most fresh fish you can imagine... There is no other place to experience this. Everything is in the house style, the price is very correct and honnest, once you came here you will certainly return !!
