Description: Tom and Axelle are pleased to welcome you at the Union Inn pub and eating house in Denbury near Newton Abbot and Totnes, a traditional 14th century inn overlooking the picturesque village green. The interior reflects a perfect balance between contemporary and traditional features, from the classic brown and cream décor to the glorious roaring log fires. The bar area has huge, comfy leather sofas where you can relax and enjoy one of the very popular lite bite dishes. The chef has produced a truly tempting range of evening and lunch menus for you to choose from, which change regularly according to the seasons, feature fish, game, meat and vegetarian dishes - all sourced locally where possible. There is an extensive selection of fine wines and real ales which have been carefully chosen to complement the food on offer. Alternatively, enjoy a cool drink or al fresco dining outside on the green, where there are tables and chairs the perfect place to enjoy a hot summers afternoon. With good food and and a great selection of real ales, the Union Inn restaurant at Denbury between Totnes and Newton Abbot is definitely a place worth visiting.

“Lovely meal”

Went there at lunch time and it was warm and hospitable. The food was very good quality, reasonably priced and the service was excellent. Now we have discovered it, we will be regular visitors at this little gem.

“Good food, varied menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2012

We had a very enjoyable evening with friends here. The menu was varied, local and fresh - all tastes were catered for. Our friends are vegetarian, we are not but we all found something to our liking. Lovely fresh vegetables and good table service. Great beer, too! A bonus was the folk singing which started at 21.00 - some very talented singers here.

“A real gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2012

My wife and I stumbled cross this pub while out for a leisurely walk and on looks alone - it was mid-afternoon and closed at the time - decided to return that evening for supper. It proved to be an inspired decision. We got a warm welcome, the locals supping at the bar from a good selection of real ales including Dartmoor Ale's Jail Ale and Otter bitter, were friendly and the decor was bright, modern and comfortable. The mezze slection for light bites was a great way to start and the white bait plus temoura vegetables were delicious. A special on Wednesday was two prime burgers with bacon and cheese, plus chips, coleslaw and onion rings for just £12 - delicious and a hearty feast. We would recommend this pub to anyone in the area.

“An excellent country pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2012

Myself and my partner have eaten here a few times now.
This is a beautiful country pub which offers everything you would expect from a traditional English pub.
The decor is superb, in a traditional style, mixed with a modern twist.
The food is excellent and the menu choice is great, whether you are looking for a light bite, lunch, evening meal or Sunday roast.
The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. There is a warm welcome to all by owners Tom & Axel.
We recommend this as a great place to eat, drink and relax in the lovely surroundings.

“Excellent meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

We had a roast beef lunch here and it was delicious. There was a great choice of vegetables, all freshly cooked, and the beef was beautifully cooked and very tender.
The service, both at the bar and with the food, was very quick and friendly.
Very good value and a delicious meal.
Definitely recommended.
