“Leisure facilities need upgraded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

Just back from a relaxing stay in redcastle hotel food in captains bar is very good as is the service from staff. The one thing that let this hotel down during our stay was the swimming pool. The steam room was out of order and only one of the thermal spa pieces of equipment in the pool was working. Most people booking this spa hotel will visit the pool area so this is an area that needs upgraded. The hotel would get a 5 from me if the leisure facilities were better.

We stayed in this hotel on new years eve for 2 nights and it was our 4th time staying here and it never disappointed us. The fireworks display was out of this world and very unexpected but made our new years eve extra special. The Family room was very Spacious. There is 5 in our family and sometimes hotel stays can be very cramped but not at at The Redcastle! The Staff in this hotel are Excellent. We ate in the bar on the second evening which was lovely and was very well presented. I would recommend if you get a chance to go into the nearby village Moville, to Rosetta's too for food, it is a beautiful wee Irish restaurant with lovely food and the atmosphere there is fantastic. We all had a great time at the pool which is beautifully located looking out onto Lough Foyle. The breakfast in the restaurant is fantastic and it has the most wonderful view out over the water. We all had a fantastic time I will definitely be going back again for my 5th Stay. Thanks to all at the Redcastle

Stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year. check in was flawless. We stayed in room 500 which is a suite and very nice even though it didn't have a sea view. Good selection of reasonably priced bar food and the restaurant is superb. The staff are truly excellent - friendly and very knowledgeable. The hotel was very busy with weddings during our stay; however, this did not impact on us at all. The staff coped very well with guests and the wedding parties. My only criticism is that the pool area could do with some TLC. On the plus side, the water was a very pleasant temperature. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: book early if you want a sea view room

We had an absolutely delightful stay at the Redcastle last weekend, I couldn't fault a thing. We received a warm welcome from reception and concierge on a cold wintery evening. The corner suite 402 we stayed in was class, so spacious, bed was unbelievably comfortable and the view was just perfect, waves crashing up from both sides. Our meal in the Edge restaurant on Friday evening was outstanding and the service was top class. Breakfast both days was delicious, the bar food was great, the spa was lovely and the 'snuggle up' hot chocolate and cookies were a nice treat. A very relaxing and friendly weekend, thanks.

Room Tip: Corner suite 402 was just class, big balcony, water on both sides, Jacuzzi, couches etc

Just stayed for the weekend with wife and children. We stayed here last year at the same time. This hotel is good value for money. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are good enough but a bit tired. My wife said her facial in the Spa was the best she's had. The pool area is good, but sadly there are various features not working. These same facilities were not working last year! Tiles were missing from the pool and there were sharp edges that could be a safety issue. The restaurant was the main disappointment. Overpriced and the food wasn't that good. We went to Derry the next night and had a fantastic meal at the Exchange for much less money. The breakfast was good though and well organised. Overall, I like the place and it would be great if the management put a bit of TLC into the place. It's starting to look tired.

Stayed as couple and having changed from Suite (no Lough views available??) we were moved to room 100 with private balcony and sound of the waves filling our room all night. Very helpful and friendly staff, room clean, good size and comfortable. Food was included and 4 star. Leisure center well equipped and not busy. Overall would return and recommend to others

Room Tip: Front facing with balcony

We stayed in Redcastle on Friday for 2 nights! It was our first visit and we were very impressed and glad we chose the hotel as it's within the beautiful grounds over the lough foyle with stunning views.
We checked in with a lovely young man Ian who got us checked early which was great as we wanted to use the pool before heading into moville. The food was lovely and the staff at reception to the spa were very polite.
The only negative comment would be that the wifi was up and down and Liam tried a few times to help.

It would be an ideal spot for that romantic getaway and I would recommend the hotel.
