One of the best place to chill out with friends we choose this place coz of its homestay with fully freedom to guest staff and owner is very friendly
The place is not that far away from Kalpetta town. It is near to all the tourist spots in wayanad. You get a very nice view of the great Chempara peak from here. Property is not huge one yet can accommodate enough people. it is not that posh but at the same time it provides you a comfortable stay. Surroundings are very clean and you get a good feel staying here. The entire area is so peaceful and you get maximum privacy. They arrange good food, campfire and barbecue facility. We can have a walk to the backyard where there is small kitchen, music and dining table.During daytime you can have a good walk around the tea estates which spread over 600 acres behind the property. It is the best place to relax "peacefully". Special mention to good service being provided by the owner Bijin.
Not at all as described or as per other reviews. There is no pics posted by travellers as there is no option to add pic to the review. Total misleading pics posted. Check my original pics on Google review and compare with the pics posted here. Joke is owner has responded that i have visited some other property.
Booked by my friend as we were 5 adults and 2 small kids so we choose this villa as per the description and reviews.
First of all the road to this place is too narrow that if one 2 wheeler is coming from the other side your car won't be able to cross easily, it is half tar road and rest mud.
Property is not maintained at all, it feels like living in jungle, with lots of ants and other insects coming inside the house. The caretaker does not know hindi or english so it's very difficult to talk to him and make him understand what you want. There is no check in check out process no bill nothing. Please don't order food from this place as it is very costly and you won't be getting what you ordered. First day when we reached there we have ordered lunch and we asked for plain rice, one dal, and one potato vegetable and chapatis but instead we got, one paneer sabji, and biriyani and the total bill came out to be INR 1000. Without asking or confirming they changed the menu and over this they bought 3 veg biriyani instead of 1. Over it they didn't provided any bill on the last day the guy simply wrote water + food INR 1000 (pic attached).
We have made the booking through Wandertrails and on there website it was mentioned that the price include B/F but the guy asked us to pay for the B/F, so please make sure this before going there. B/F was ok, first day we got idly second day he made puttu, but second day our ladies took over the kitchen and made uttapam and parathas as puttu was not good. Initially one night before we asked him to change the menu as we were the only one living there but he refused.
It's not a big property, it has one 3bhk Villa and 2 cottages. The rooms of villa are too small that even queen size bed can not fit in and due to this the beds are small in size and if you have a small kid then it's impossible for 3 person to sleep on it even for 2 it is difficult to sleep and due to this we have arranged the mattress in the living room. As already said the property is not maintained at all and water was coming from one of the wall in bedroom. When we showed this to the care taker guy he said ya this happens what to do..!! (pic attached)
One of the single seater sofa was also broken(pic attached). On Wandertrails it was mentioned that the villa has functional kitchen on arrival when we saw it has nothing there, we can't do anything in the kitchen.
Security and emergency was one major concern here as this place is located on mountain and in b/w tea estate no other house is nearby nor there is any person who stays at the night who can help you if you got into some sort of trouble in the middle of the night.
The latches on the doors are not strong and door itself are not strong and very old. You can't open the windows because insects and mosquitoes will come in as there is not net of any other thing fitted on the widows.
It was mentioned that toiletries will be provided but in that only one small soap was given.
We have booked one day Villa and one day 2 cottages for our 2 night stay there but after checking the cottages we continued our stay in the Villa as one of the Cottage was more worse then the villa and that the one present on the ground floor. The cottage above it was new and is better then the villa and far better the one present below it, this cottage pics you can see so don't be fooled by the images.
Pool was worst pool we have seen in our life, there no maintenance at all the water was all dirty and insects were floating on the the surface.
The Kitchen where they cook and serve the food was also in poor shape as the roof was leaking from many place and there was a small portion only where we can sit w/o water dripping on your head, but again mosquitoes and ants were problem. There were big red ants one of which bites my wife.
Overall one of the worst stay of my life. 2 star given because we were able to put mattress in the living room and we all could sit/sleep there and played cards :)
Please ignore this place.
Location and price is affordable for groups we rely like the location which is full of greenery with beautiful view of mountains and tea plantations before coming here we just read some negative reviews I dont know why they written about this place we are very happy with this place and people who running this place are very helpful
I like this Place because of Naturl things used in all place It's a budget place with full freedom to Guest and food is super good Homely For sure I recommend this Place
For those looking for a relaxing getaway amidst the beauty of nature, this is the place. I am so happy by their hospitality and I immediately felt at home away from home. Unlike other home stays, this one takes you to an exceptional journey. Food and service are great.
Myself, my wife and 10 year old niece stayed at Glendale for 3 nights in November. We contacted Bijin and he was very prompt in his responses and very helpful. Now about the stay. The property is surrounded by coffee plantations, very private, quiet and beautiful. Much better than staying in the middle of town. There is one house with 3 small bedrooms, and an attic and living room, old style and another with one large bedroom, modern style. We chose the latter.. Very comfortable, neat and clean. Cosy. Hot water available for bathing, place is neat and clean. There is a caretaker on premise, cooks excellent home style meals, limited variety but very tasty, fresh, non spicy. He also arranges campfire in the evening. Bijin arranged for jeep to visit all the places of interest. All is very good, only two points to note.. There is nothing much to do on the property itself except to relax, and there is no public transportation from the holiday home, and its too far to walk, so you have to have your own car or pre-arrange the transportation with Bijin. Also, prior to arriving at Glendate, I would recommend you do your own research on the internet, all the places you want to visit, the distances from the holiday home, the timings, dates they are open/closed etc, so that you can plan it properly in advance, which day you want to go where.
On the whole, we were very happy with our interactions with Bijin, and our stay at Glendale. Highly recommended.
