The staff are pleasant and helpful. The menu is extensive and mainly based around fish which suited us. They were happy to arrange the dishes and the wine we wanted according to our wishes so that the meal turned into a delightful gastronomic experience with superb tasting wine. Certainly recommend it.

My family and I went to Nef for Christmas Eve dinner this year. Traditionally, Christmas Eve dinner in central and southern Italy features various kinds of fish, so Nef seemed like a good fit.

Nef's prix-fixe interpretation of the Christmas Eve dinner was a perfect balance between tradition and contemporary dining. Dinner started with wonderfully fresh oysters, followed by various appetizers, notably, a tasty anchovy tart, fried, light and crispy battered baccalà filets, and a selection of very fresh raw fish: salmon with pineapple, shrimp with pomegranate seeds, and whitefish with orange. Two pasta courses followed: gnocchetti with baby calamari and lupini clams with a dolop of pesto, and handmade fusili with shrimp, dusted with bottarga. The main course was a guazzetto of mussels, clams, langoustines, giant shrimp and cannochie (mantis shrimp), served over a generous piece of poached whitefish, all tasting extremely fresh. According to the waiter, everything was swimming that morning, and to judge by the taste that might just have been literally true!
For desert, a semifreddo, followed by limoncello and mirto and biscotti. Slices of panettone appeared at the end.

Not too many places are open on Christmas Eve, and the restaurant was busy, including a party of 18 in the next room. Nevertheless, the service was friendly, punctual and precise; the waiters didn't miss a beat! The vaguely mediterranean decor is refined and contemporary, but at the same time warm and welcoming, providing a welcome contrast with the usual rustic decor of most restaurants in the area. The space is divided in such a way as to make the alcove in which we had our table intimate without feeling cramped.

Given the quality of the menu, the quantity of the offering, and the fact that it was Christmas Eve, the price (€50 per person) seemed quite reasonable. The wine list was reasonably priced, and two bottles of a good Falanghina added only €30 total to our bill for a party of six. Everything else, including the after dinner liquers, was included in the menu.

In short, we couldn't have had a better Christmas Eve dinner out! Thank you, Nef!

Been around Frascati several times, and I can really recommend Nef due to the quality of its food, specially starters and fishes (amazing orata in guazetto), not forgetting the wines and the after-dinner spirits.
The staff is really helpful (and verbose) creating a really friendly atmosphere.

Overall prices are higher than other restaturants in the area, but so the quality does, so it's a decision to make, maybe not the everyday place but really a quality choice.
