We had an excellent Maroccon dinner at Restaurant Babel in Arcos de la Frontera. All the courses that we had were very good. The restaurant is quite small, but that just makes it even more pleasant. This is a place worth visiting, as well as yhe city itself.

We were lucky enough to come upon this spot during our stay in Arcos. Spanish cuisine had been difficult for us as we aren't used to eating much cheese or meat, so we'd been surviving on seafood and bread mostly. FINALLY we got some vegetables. We had the hummus and the vegetable tangines and both were amazing. The service was also very friendly and were fortunate enough to be there during a celebration among locals and friends and were able to share some drinks and conversation with some fantastic Arcos residents. Home now after 2 weeks in Spain (and a few days in Morocco), we are trying to recreate their vegetable tangine!

We were looking for an alternative to the tapas bars and this friendly Moroccan restaurant offers just that. Delicious tasty servings, fresh salads, bbq kebabs, falafels with humous, tagines and more.

Oscar is your affable host, helping us and other tourists through the menu in between entertaining the local families dropping in for a drink. Oscar made us feel very welcome and even put on some cool music that came up in conversation.

Highly recommended if you love Moroccan food or if you'd just like to try.

Yes, I like Spanish tapas...at least the idea of them and most of them but I was ready for something different and put in my request for Babel on Mother's Day. I was eager and my husband reserving judgment and we were both delighted! This Moroccan Cafe has great ambience and as well as delicious food. My husband had a beef teyrin (?) a delicious dish with beef and prunes. I started with hummus and didn't realize how much I have missed eating hummus. A little Spanish flair as it is served with tortillas instead of the pita I am used to. My main dish was couscous and vegetables with chicken. What a pleasure...tasty and so satisfying.

Vino tinto frio was the perfect accompaniment. The price was right too!

Tired of meat, potatoes and mayonnaise based tapas? Cafe Babel (Moroccan Restaurant) was a delicious and healthful respite from Spanish cuisine. The markets are full of beautiful vegetables but are rarely found in Spanish restaurants. Cafe Babel is a small but cheery Moroccan restaurant just before you enter the Old City of Acros. Only opened for 9 months the place already has a great reputation and well deserved. We were 3 hungry diners and started with the house special salad consisting of about 5-6 of expertly seasoned diced vegetables including, sweet potato, cucumber, tomatoes, eggplant and beets served in individual lettuce cups. Although it was a cold and rainy day I imagined this would be a perfect lunch on it's own on a hot day.
We then ordered 3 dishes wishing to try the full range of the menu. 1) Lamb tagine - tender, falling off the bone meat in the most flavorful sauce of braised vegetables. There was a hint of preserved lemon, cinnamon and cumin. 2) Kefi Kabab - Hot off the grill patties of ground, spiced meat on grilled onions and tomato. 3) Chicken Pastilla - A classic Moroccan dish. This is a must if you've never had it. Delicately spiced with a hint of sweetness wrapped in filo dough. We only wished there was a fourth person so we could have tried their couscous. BTW- The owner speaks French and English. Also very reasonably priced - 46 euros for all that plus 2 beers and one tea.
