We travelled as a family group in February 2012, three 20-somethings for downhill skiing and two parents for cross-country skiing and walking. This hotel was selected because reviews reported high standards of service and cleanliness (very important to us). We were not disappointed in any way. The staff were very approachable and could not have been more helpful. The food was top quality, with a good range of choice - including some "local specialities" (so it was not just the bland "international cuisine" that some hotels serve). The rooms are a good size, even the single room. If you need a single room, you need to know that although the AQI has 103 double rooms (21 of which can take a third bed) there are only 2 single rooms - so book early! This is a non-smoking hotel, still not common in Austria. The manager was often to be seen around the hotel, attentive but not intrusive - always a good sign. We would very happily stay here again, and are already planing our next trip.

we stayed here august 2010 . Lovely clean hotel, good staff . Quite good value but as the summer is off peak, the hotel is very quiet and very little atmosphere. Nonetheless, it was perfectly adequate for a couple of nights as you tour the area . If you are in the area make sure to go up the Dachstein cable car, well worth the trip . It is the highest mountain in the region and on a clear day they day you can see Germany to the noth and Italy to the south, also a great restaurant at the summit .

Aqi hotel is located right in front of one of Schladming's (probably) most dangeours ski pistes which looks like being at and angle of around 50 degrees facing North, but what an amazing view that is! The train station is less than 10min by taxi and can take you in less than 2h directly to Salzburg train station (and 2 euros by bus 2 or 43 euros by taxi to Salzburg airport), on the left of the hotel there is an amazing 'Cabane' that houses the most amazing atmosphere you will find in Schladming with Disco/Music (some days annoyingly packed with German&Rock'n'Roll hits of the last 3 decades but better other days)/Beer Drinking/Eating that runs from 'Apres Ski' of 4pm until early next day!!!!!! However smoking is not banned anywhere in Austria so expect to be covered in smoke, nevermind seeing other skiers dancing around in their tight ski trousers or even skiing boots!!!!!! Hilarious. On the right of the hotel there is the Ski complex that takes you right up to the top of the mountain at over 1800 metres (and is linked to the numerous other pistes), where you can also have some beautiful and cheap Austrian meals. Take on your right to the centre of Schadming on a beautiful 5min walk and discover some little restaurants hidden off the main pedestrian road, where late at night some locals sing in beautiful male choirs their 1920's Marlene Dietrich's and other well known melancholic songs and welcome you with a smile and a clap to join in! However shops/supermarket close around 6pm, so do not leave it for too late to buy your stuff.

Negative things about the hotel:
- no telephone in the room and no kettle if you fancy having a cup of tea, however the bar/reception always give away some beautiful blends of teas (my fave was Mountain herbs) and milk
- the room has an Ikea feel but is beautifully organised: large room as you enter (all rooms only 2 single beds though and no doubles) with sink (liquid soap only) margined by WC to one side and extremely large shower room with liquid shampoo to the other side. Everything looks new, clean cut, just delightfully cute
- some people tend to smoke in their rooms (very thin walls and you can hear people talking or as they walk on the hallway) but when informed, the reception takes immediate action

The breakfast runs up to 10am and there are lots of food choices and several areas you can chose to sit, in the reception area there are 2 PCs you can access free of charge as well as wireless connection in the hotel and the reception is very helpful if you have problems with the connection. They can also call taxis for you to anywhere in the city/the modern and efficient hospital/train station and everything seems to be 8-10 euros one way. Despite being some 1-2 Degrees Celsius, you can sit in the sun in front of the hotel in only a jumper and watch the skiers coming down the mountain and even get a tan!!!!!!

Stayed at the Aqi for Xmas, fantastic location across the road from the main Planai Gondola. Austria''s largets bar the Tenne Bar is opposite which has plenty of Austrian charm. The staff at AQi were excellent and very friendly and gave us super service. The food was great, with a selection of choices each night. First time we've had "osterich" for Xmas. A great stay and the skiing was superb would com back here in a flash.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Close to Planai, great clean rooms, really good food in the restaurant, the staff were outstanding - so pleasant and helpful. After skiing for many years, this was definately one of the best hotels for skiing. We would stay here again without hesitation.
Schladming is a great ski resort for intermediates.
Absolutely fantastic!!

My wife and I stayed here for a ski holiday for the first week in March. In terms of location, it can't be faulted, being just across the road from the main Planai gondoler, and at the bottom of the home pistes. Buses to other parts of the ski area and the glacier all stop here too.
It's a new, very modern hotel, in contrast to the more traditional options in the town. The rooms are sleek, spacious, quiet and well appointed, with loads of storage space for gear. There's a secure ski and boot room, which is also used for mountain bike storage in the summer. The shower was hot and powerful, and the usual range of toiletries were provided.
We went half board. The buffet breakfast was great, with hot and cold options. Dinner was also buffet style, with a couple of choices for each course, and was consistently good.
What really made our stay was the staff. They were unfailingly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had a really early checkout on our final morning. Once they realised this, a waitress came in to work 45 mins early, so that we could have a quick coffee and croissant before we left, which sums up their attitude to customer service perfectly.
All in all a great place.

Stayed at the Aqi for 1 week, booked with Crystal Ski. Location couldn't be better - across the road from main gondola station. Has own ski storage room so no problem storing skis overnight and very short distance to carry to the lifts. Very modern, stylish, comfortable, clean hotel with excellent friendly and helpful staff. Ultra efficient but with a very warm and welcoming style. Best feature of our holiday by far. Definitely recommend.
