“Fabulous calm and B&B perfection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

Buscott Manor and the wonderful family of Romney are second to none.

As a B&B this is leagues ahead of the rest. Set in an idyllc location, nestled in the chocolate watery box perfection of the Cotswolds, brought to life by the most splendid of natural hosts, with breakfast feasts to send you to heaven, this utterly charming experience left us feeling happily satiated in mind, body and spirit after a relaxing, energising, calm and refreshing stay this weekend. There is so much to do here, from walks to proper countryside pubs and dining delights, Natural Heritage homes and gardens, visiting local beauty spots such as Lechlade to long hots baths, seriously comfortable beds, and great company. And, we fell in love with Romney and her family, who are so welcoming, kind and attentive to the work weary travellers from London. Fabulous!

This is a golden ticket to soft satisfaction and the ultimate countryside get-away. We cannot wait to return.

As it turned out, this had the feel of a wonderful house party, rather than 'just' a B&B stay! Initially I was there as a 'solo' traveller. Romney, the hostess, made me feel instantly at home and the room I stayed in, with four poster bed and deep comfy sofa was full of the character of such a lovely property and very comfortable. The bathroom, just off the landing had a superb roll top bath which gave an extra feel of luxury to the stay! (Though I did have to watch how I lowered myself in and got myself out...not being as agile as I used to be!!) I was then joined by the rest of the family and friends of the bride whose wedding I was going to on the Saturday..and from then on the house party atmosphere took over. Romney was so generous in allowing us this feeling. A friend had brought the pre-wedding evening feast which we enjoyed in the dining room after pre-dinner drinks in one of the period reception rooms. Romney took her family out to friends for the evening allowed us to use the kitchen. What more can I say? The weekend continued in much the same way... hairdresser and preparations for the wedding on the Saturday morning with drinks in the garden before leaving for the church. The family style breakfasts around a big table were superb; and the 'after the wedding' breakfast.. (with special delivery of Marmite for me!) allowed us to mull over the beautiful day we had had on Saturday, as well as for some to recover their 'equilibrium' after a late night!! In all, an excellent stay in a beautiful property, just a few hundred yards from the Thames; a special weekend for everyone. Thank you Romney...and family, for making it so.

My 11 yr old son and I stayed just the one night before setting off on a "boys" 3 day Thames walk - the Thames Path is just a stroll up the path so couldn't be more convenient.
We had two rooms ... one four poster bed room and another smaller twin room.
The "piece de resistance" however was the breakfast ... you couldn't wish for anything more from fuit and yoghurt (for those that must) to a full blown English.
Romney was most friendly and the accomodation was clearly family and dog friendly ... so perhaps she may meet the whole clan next time!

Room Tip: Annexe for those with dogs ... main house for all others and especially the four poster bedrooms. D...

We stayed at the manor for four nights, in a very nicely decorated room with a four poster bed. The service was excellent and the landlady just charming. The breakfast was huge and delicious and we even got special wishes granted. A perfect hide away and great place to relax and enjoy the quiteness of the countryside. Furthermore, there are two great pubs close by, the Plough Inn at Kelmscot and The Trout Inn at Lechlade. All in all, a perfect place to stay.

Room Tip: one with a four poster bed

we must have missed something at the manor the family were very welcoming and the breakfast very filling but we were in the annex room at the side of the house which although had its own entrance had a narrow bedroom and a noisy sprung bedstead which was very uninviting and lacked any ambiance there was a TV on the window sill and 2 separate dining chairs to sit on.
These other reviews were from visitors who must have been in the main bedrooms which we never viewed and i'm sure would have influenced our opinion of the accommodation.
we stayed 2 night and did not think we had value for money we found that b & b hotels in Stow were cheaper but full for the weekend we chose.
We could could not fault the hospitality given by the host and please do not let this review deter you from staying at the house.

Room Tip: avoid the annex unless you have a dog which are welcome at the house

We had 5 nights at Buscot for our wedding anniversary. We've been to many B&B's and this is up there with the best. Time just flew by, which is a good sign. Rooms fantastic (4 poster bed, roll top bath). Huge and lovely breakfasts. Romney kept asking if we wanted anything else, she was attentive and helpful. It's a great location for many attractions, such as the Cotswolds and many near by National Trust properties.
So thanks for a lovely stay!!!!
