Stayed here for 5 nights in August - lovely setting in the hills South of Bologna (approx 45 mins). Farm house with rooms in the main building and out buidings. Our room was small, in the eaves of the main house, with views from a small window across the hills. Full of character, with a small ensuite shower room/toilet.
Breakfast was excellent - lots of homemade cakes and plates of local meats and cheeses. Taken in an open barn in the grounds. Two other dining areas, again very characterful and excellent food (cold food only on Sunday evening). Local ingredients and fresh pasta.
Outside, an attractive pool area with freeform pool and bar.
2 slight annoyances - paying for use of sunloungers, and no horses on site (despite what it says in Alastair Sawday's book and on the website). There is riding (average horse and no English spoken) 17 km away - La fenice will arrange it for you.
On transport is essential here, and the weather isn't always blue skies. Could probably make it Florence for the day - just - if you set out early -the hill roads take longer than you think.
