While it may not be the best hotel in the world it does exactly what you would expect of a chain hotel. The room was large and modern, the pool was great to relax in have a leisurely swim and the bar was well stocked.
What made it stand out for me and my boyfriend when we stayed while visiting family was the staff.
My boyfriend and I came down for breakfast at 10.30 and we're told that it had finished. We hadn't checked the times and realised that 10.30 was probably a bit late. However, the hotel staff nevertheless sorted us hungry northerners a lovely breakfast complete with fruit juice and hot drinks. We'll be coming again next time were down!

We used this hotel for a weekend break our room was clean, quite and comfortable, breakfast was fine but ingredients were not high quality for a hotel that is rated as 4star they need to up there game, spend some cash and smarten up. On the plus side staff were helpful and courteous

We enjoyed our stay at the Mercure. Teh bar food was excellent, the breakfast weas good and the leisure facilities were perfect for us. However, our stay was spoilt by the hotel's lack of ability to manage group visits alongside other guests - but this was more due to a lack of staff and some poor planning aroudn seating arrangements. A few minor repairs needed in places and the room wasn't as immaculate as it should have been for a 4* hotel, but no real complaints. The building itself is nice, there is plenty of parking and staff were friendly and helpful. Pillows are much too firm!

Apart from the excellent food and service by the bar staff (the restauarant was full) the hotel is pretty average. There is a small pool and health suite but it is looking very tired and in need of some repairs.

We have stayed in several Mercure hotels before but on this occasion we felt a little let down. The hotel seemed a little run down and the service was a little tired. It seems that this hotel is used purely by men working away from home during the week so I would not recommend a couple to stay here unless you like listening to bad language most of the evening. The meal we had was average along with the service. Would not go back.

First time at this hotel and ideally located for a new site of ours, couple of miles down the road. Staff very pleasant and received an upgrade (Accor card member) without asking and to be fair without the receptionist telling me, so nice surprise when i got to the room. Check-in and check-out very painless.

Very large room with the additional nespresso machine etc. Bathroom could be a bit smarter but does the job, and for a change a hotel shower that actually worked spot on first time with a decent amount of water pressure.

Hotel was busy when i turned up and took a while to get parked due to the coach dropping a load of people back to the hotel blocking the whole road stopping anyone getting in or out of the two car parks they seem to have. Obviously not the fault of the hotel just the unhelpful coach driver.

Only issue with the coach load was no room in restaurant for evening meal or breakfast, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful in ensuring everything went to plan.

Will stay again (in fact in process of possibly booking again for June, as i've had to swap hotels around for reasons out of my control).

Would be nice to get a free i or independent newspaper that most Accor hotels give out these days but a very small gripe.

I booked to stay at the Mercure Tunbridge Wells using their on line reservations system. I reserved a double room on a flexible rate - cancellable until 2pm on the day of arrival. My travel plans changed (that's why I booked a flexible rate) and cancelled within the deadline. A few days later I noticed on my credit card statement a charge from the hotel. I called them and they said they'd refund it . A week later and still no refund. I've now raised it as a dispute with my credit card company. It's bad enough they charged for something they weren't entitled to in the first place without then dragging their feet on the refund. Won't be booking this hotel again!
