We went one day for the chocolate and beer tasting and enjoyed our day out so much we returned next dat to see glass blowing, have a wine tasting and lunch. The lunch was excellent, the chef really knows his stuff. Our starter on the fixed two course menu was just fabulous. Beautiful chicken strips with couscous full of crispy seeds, fresh sage and much more. As a plus trhere are great views and the service is first class.

Food and service excellent, views over the valley wonderful. A great variety of other interesting options on site (glass blowing factory/shop, chocolate makers, beer etc.)

We had a wonderful lunch at Spice Route Restaurant. Delicious food and wonderful service!
But the whole of Spice Route Estate offers a wide and wonderful variety of activities - wine & beer & grappa tasting (the traditional winery was recently joined by a brewery & a distillery); chocolate tasting in the espresso bar plus there are two additional restaurants: the barley & biltong venue with delicious pies and the Pizzeria. These are all in separate buildings on the estate and this is a fantastic venue to explore - something for all tastes. We had a GREAT day!

We had heard of the whole Spice Route experience so decided to take a trip out there on a public holiday. We started at the tasting room with the wine and chocolate tasting which we really enjoyed. We then moved on to the Spice Rute restaurant. We liked the ambience, very relaxed with lovely views. We had a lovely bottle of the Spice Route Sauvignon Blanc and a Shiraz. They only sell their own wine but the prices are very reasonable so you don't feel ripped off. Only strange thing was one of our group was not drinkning so ordered a coke to be told they don't serve coke. Odd.
Our main meals were generally ok. I had the korma curry which was tasty and filling. My one friend had the fish which she enjoyed, and the other the steak which she said was very good. The real dissapointment was the osso bucco which both men had - a huge piece of bone with a bit of meat attached, and 2 thick slabs of polenta smothered in a sauce. Both pronounced it as awful and were still hungry after we left. A pity. Our waitress was charming and lovely and all in all we had a very agreeable afternoon there despite the 2 mains, but be warned, the food is not cheap and at that price should be of better quality.

This is a good all in one stop. Beer tastings, Chocolate tastings, Wine tasting, Pizzeria and Restaurant, oh and a glass gallery as well. The beer tasting building was fun, even for a non beer drink like myself. It was interesting and friendly staff. The Chocolate tasting was very interesting and a must visit. We did not have a great experience at the Beer Emporium, unfriendly staff and not willing to compromise on orders. We had another bad experience at the Wilder Pizzeria. Although I understand that they were busy, they kind of forgot about us most of the times when it came to refills and after 1h15min asking about our food, you could see they forgot about the order, the pizzas came through half burnt. Sadly, you also get a lot less than you pay for.
