“Overwhelming Experience”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

We visited Sojha in April 2012. On entering the property we were awestruck by the beautiful flowering of apple trees in the lawn which was an enticing sight. Our room had view of valley & the mountains had evergreen pine trees all around.
We had unique experience of hailstorm in the evening & saw the green lawn turn into white Chaddar.
We thoroughly enjoyed the treks of Raghupur fort & Water falls.
We were fortunate to see morning golden rays falling on the far off snowcap mountain ranges.
The food was simple & tasty. The dining room was cosy with colorful crockery. It had lots of excellent Photographs taken by Captain Sud (Owner) hanging on the walls. The whole place had touch of class. Mr. Rishi & all the staff members looked after the guest with care & warmth.

All Indian should be proud of Captain Sud of Banjara for putting Sojha on World Map!!!

Sojha is a piece of heaven and the new Banjara Retreat rooms are unbelievable. Curling up with a book in the wood & glass balcony sit out overlooking the valley is an unforgettable experience. Management is extremely helpful and the best thing about the place is the oppurtunity to do the Raghupur Fort and the Serulsar lake treks - manageable for city legs including kids. You have to stand on top of the meadowy peak at Raghupur and see the 360 degree panorama to understand why a king wanted to build a fort up there. And having delicious packed lunch up there...
I travelled in June 2010 - the food back at the retreat was passably good - thought that was one thing that could be taken a notch up further.

Room Tip: Choose the new retreat rooms only.

We were at Sojha from 23rd to 26th Dec 2011. Sojha is a beautiful place with awesome sceneries. The retreat is very well maintained and the staff very helpful. Inspite of frozen water pipes, Mr. Rishi(site manager) and his team did their best and provided us with daily quota of water for our needs.
Food was homely and tasty. The chef even baked a cafe on Christmas day!!!
Nicely maintained retreat with beautiful view of the mountains.
Will definitely recommend.

We stayed in Banjara retreat, Shoja in the month of june for 2 nights. The retreat is situated 5 km. before Jalori pass on a very narrow and steep slope. One has to walk down quite a bit from the road to reach the retreat. The building is mde in a traditional Kullu architecture which blends well with the surroundings. On a clear day you get to see the snow clad Dhauladhar ranges from the retreat or else you see the steep forest covered slopes and the valley. It's altitude is above 8,800 feet so it gets pretty cold here even in summers. The rooms are spacious and compfy and with clean linen and loo.The rooms are rented on A.P plan which includes all meals. The food is homely and served in the dining area(No room service). There is no power backup. The place has plenty of indoor games and books to keep you busy. There is a bonfire every night in the garden which is an excellent spot to soak in the sunlight during daytime. The staff is courteous and quick and has a good knowledge of the flora, fauna and treks.
