“A memorable stay”
Reviewed March 16, 2014

One word sums up the location of the resort-Stunning. As soon as you open the room window curtains the magnificent "Athirapally water falls" can be seen in all its majesty and splendor with a 180 degree view. This makes up for the over priced rooms and food. The rooms are tastefully furnished and maintained. The Breakfast spread was good. Mr. Nithin Jose and Ms. Chinju at the front office took great care of us. Do not miss a bath in the Chalakudy river beyond the top of the water falls and also do visit the Vazzhachal water falls , which is very close to the resort.

We stayed in the treehouse for one night and enjoyed our stay there. The treehouse was well appointed and had a fantastic view over the falls. The resort itself was dated and very basic. We could not use the pool as it was green, there was no hot water and I was reluctant to order anything from the restaurant due to the recent reviews regarding bad food. It is my opinion that the accommodation was expensive for what it was.

Awesome experience. Initially we were not hoping that it will be like this but once we reached there we just felt great. The place is just in front of the falls. All the rooms are waterfalls facing and these are so big so that you will feel great and peaceful and the sound of falling water. Food was also very good. Staff was very cooperative and efficient. Best place to chill specially for a couple. The only bad thing is that they don't serve during their restaurant timings which i think they must improve.

Room Tip: All the rooms are waterfalls facing hence you can choose any room.

We were really disappointed with our stay. The hotel is really tired and needs some attention. Here are what we found to be the main problems:

1) Location - The waterfall itself is beautiful and the hotel has a prime location but there's little else to do. Having travelled around Kerala, there are undoubtedly much more scenic places and it's hard to justify more than a morning here.

2) Food - we were pretty much sat down instantly and given lunch without being asked or informed how much it would be. No menu and prices were double or more than anywhere else we stayed during our trip. The quality was mediocre at best. Also, we think we may have got food poisoning from the food as well.

3) Treehouse - we booked to stay in the treehouse but when we saw the room, we were disappointed and had to upgrade and pay extra to stay in the suite which was the only room available. The treehouse was not in any way maintained to any decent standard. There was a swarm of insects living on it, there were dirty furnishings and nails sticking out of the woodwork and the curtains were attached by velcro and kept flying open. It didn't feel safe or secure and I didn't have too much confidence in the guard at the bottom of the staircase.

4) Room - We stayed in the celestial suite after having to pay an extra £70 to upgrade from the treehouse. It was a nice room with a great view but again very tired and needed modernising. Apparently, you can only have a cold water jacuzzi which is strange.

5) Service/Value - the staff were friendly, but not very helpful particularly when it came to the tree house issues. We were very disappointed with how expensive things were compared to other hotels that we stayed in and how much worse it was. All in all we were very frustrated and felt as if we were paying a premium for a bad experience.

5) Overall - there is no atmosphere at all and it felt slightly uncomfortable. The website doesn't reflect the reality of the place.

We won't be coming back!

Wake up from any room here (most of the rooms). You can see a perfect frame of image, with the water falling in front of you (with the sound, of course). A perfect destination for some time of your own, or with your family, or friends or even for a honeymoon. Holiday destination for everyone. Could try the tree house too.

Room Tip: Beware of Monkeys, and keep your doors closed, when away!

We stayed here for one night, arriving in time for a very welcome lunch. We visited the falls in the afternoon, and returned for a swim in the very well placed infinity pool at the end of the day. The room was excellent, with a stunning view of the falls, and had good shower facilities.
We ordered an evening meal, which was very pleasant - but the lighting in the restaurant was a bit dim, and as far as we were aware - no alcohol.

Room Tip: with a view of the falls

Stayed here for one night on the 20th Jan. If you are going to Athirapally Falls, then this is the place to stay otherwise don't bother. The Manager (Eldo John) was really helpful. If anyone wants more info, please feel free to PM me.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the Falls, but I think all the rooms have this.
