I am Nathan from Chennai. We stayed in the Landmark Hotel during 17/08/2012 to 20/08/2012.
We had a comfortable and memorable stay in the Hotel. The ambience of the hotel is wonderful with greenery ,plants and tress around the hotel with well maintained lawns.,The Staff are very courteous and food was very nice. The close proximity to the Lake is another attraction.

Room Tip: No need for AC in Rooms during winter since weather is always good and we can manage with fans..Ro...

The property is an excellent piece of land with good amenities but the management definitely needs improvement especially room service. when people come on a holiday, they tend to oversleep and relax so there should be a 24 hour coffee shop or at least 24 hour room service with a limited menu.. otherwise the experience was good. the rooms were very spacious and our room for two had 2 king sized beds with a dining area and balcony.

Two of us (both guys - myself and my friend) stayed in this hotel in July 2012. We went mainly for a cool break from the hectic city lives in Bangalore and Chennai.

The hotel is build in a good location. Though it doesn't have much lake view etc. There are small mountains around and that gives a good view. The lake is very close (2 minutes by walk) which is a great advantage. The hotel has some rooms in the first and second floors. We had to demand one such room. We rejected the ground floor room offered earlier and got the 2nd floor room. The lawn is well designed and superbly maintained. I would give good marks for the exterior of the hotel.

Rooms are spacious but not clean. The maintenance was sub standard. Even the bed and towels were not spotless. The refrigerator (mini bar) was not clean and not working properly. BTW, it had nothing in store.

We asked the frontdesk to do good cleaning the second day which was only partly heard/implemented. No new soaps in the bathroom on the 2nd day, same kind of towels etc.

The hotel provided breakfast which was okay. But, the coffee served at room was very poor. Same is true with the service. Waiters roam around in casual dresses, no uniform, no formal process to handle customer. I don't think anyone working in this hotel is a trained hotel management person.

Worst of all - the hotel has a storage area just below the stairs which is wide open for all to see. They keep cleaning material (brooms etc) in the same area. I almost puked looking at that. We avoided eating in the hotel after seeing that. Guys, please stop that immediately.

Frontoffice service was again average. They have a habit of acting slow on customer requests and keep them waiting. Though we had given two hours notice to check-out, all the accounting was done once we reached the counter with luggage. No help came to handle luggage, very bad.

This is an average hotel that may not be value for the money they charge. But, in a place like Yelagiri, I am not sure of any better options. By improving the service and Hygiene Landmark can become a great hotel.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms in the 1st and 2nd floors. Those provide the good views. Some corner rooms in the s...

When we went there on a weekday for a 2 day trip, there were hardly any other cars in the parking. Not sure why we were given a room in the 2nd floor when many rooms on the ground floor were empty.
As soon as we entered the room, the strong smell of room freshners and dusty furniture put us off. Even towels were not available in the bathroom. They were offered only when we asked for it.
What was worse, the beds were creaky and the main door used to slam shut, making it difficult to sleep.Even basics like newspapers were not provided for each room; instead we were supposed to go take the only copy available in the reception.
Food was tasty and served hot but tad oily. Breakfast options were very limited especially during week days though there were many options on the menu. Post meal, plates were cleared only after constant reminders as they were lying outside the room for hours
Children’s play area is minimal with a slide, swing and see-saw. There is open space to play badminton and a TT room. Manager was helpful, Service from the kitchen was good but too many other negatives spoiled the whole experience.
Would not recommend it to anyone, especially for families with infants and elderly people. Definitely not value for money.

First the pros:

The location of the hotel is very good. It is on a hillside, and has nice views of the small hillocks nearby. Also, the lake is a small walk away, and a nice place to spend the evening.

The rooms are spacious and good.

The hotel ambience itself is nicely maintained, and has some good amount of greenery. Nice lawns and artwork.

There is ample space for parking.

Now, the cons:

The checkin took 3 hours. That is something unacceptable by any standards. After a long drive from Bangalore, we had to loiter about the lawn, and spend time here and there waiting for the room to be cleaned and made ready. It needed repeated talking to the receptionist, and calling different workers, when finally we were able to check into the rooms.

The food was very average. The basic stuff like sambar and rasam were ok, but the non-veg and other dishes were a let down. It was a buffet, and the food was cold. It was pricey also. To top the bad feeling, we saw a dead cockroach in the food! We complained to the restaurant people, and avoided the dish.

The bathroom was so so. The door never could be closed easily.

The room locks themselves were difficult to open and close.

Overall, there is not many things you can do in Yelagiri, and this hotel gives a just average place to stay. Considering that there are not too many places for stay in Yelagiri, this hotel should just be ok for a weekend getaway.

Spacious rooms, clean resort, well maintained and manicured lawns. Quality of food average. Actually there is nothing much to do in Yelagiri except boating on the lake and a musical fountain in the evening. Ok place for a day to enjoy with family and friends.
