Stayed at Rain country for 2D/1N for a business off-site in October 2011. We were a group of 8 who had booked 4 cottages. We were allotted cottages atop a hill which required a mini trek of sorts to reach from the reception. The rooms were simple, neat and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. I really liked the traditional kerela breakfast (puttu kadala, appam curry). The room service was excellent as the staff took the trouble to climb all the way to the top to serve us the starters while we partied in the evening. The manager also arranged a vehicle for local sight seeing at a reasonable cost. The only drawback is the approach to the resort. The road is extremely narrow and bumpy all the way to the top. Also beware of the leeches during rainy season. Do carry insect repellant sprays with you.

All i can say is i had a very bad experience at this resort. my friends gave me the responsibility of booking a place for new years eve and i repent for the fact that i had to book this place. to start with the rooms were not that great and the food was very ordinary.

The icing on the frustration was the new years eve/party was not as to what we expected where they said live band and god did we regret the listen to that music. the person singing had to be sent to a singing class as it was that bad and gave us headache instantly listening to his singing.

All said and done we somehow went through this frustrating ordeal and went to reception to vacate the resort and then came the real picture of their staff. we 3 friends were looking at the bill and to our shock they charged us for food seperately stating only breakfast will be provided (this was mentioned in the email that they sent for confirmation of booking), it was my mistake of not reading the Terms........but then i thought all resorts talk about All meal package as i am frequent traveler.

we friends would have not thought twice to pay seperately for food if it was tasty but then it was so bad that we were starving and so did our kids. This person started talking so roughly that we got so irritated that we were about to bash him. And to top it all a labourer comes to his rescue and starts talking even more roughly with us and we really thought this would end up in a fight but somehow things came to an end and we were glad to leave this filthy place.

It was a Team Outbound Activity for us, & so myself with my colleagues we had gone there...It is situated quite inside from the main road, so the hotel staff came to pick us from a point on the main road to the resort..we had reached late night so it was a good gesture for the resort to send around 10 Jeeps to bring us to the resort...the road leading to the resort is quite a adventure in itself.....as it was raining a bit & quite dark, so it was a fantastic ride to reach the resort...though it was late, the resort people arranged for a dinner for us..
& the next 2 days we had lots of fun there doing lots of activities....also had a Bonfire on one of the evenings,....& the weather was very pleasant with clouds & rains most of the times...All and all I would say a very place to stay in....

Great environment for a quick getaway with a loved one in Wayanad. The accommodations, service, staff, rooms, beach, and amenities are all you need (other than a companion) for a nice few days alone.
I booked this Reosrt first time for my guests from Holland with Family . The Genaral Manager Mr.Abhilash and Property Owner Mr.Joseph are very kind and belssed with high quality of hospitality to the guest.

Room Tip: If you are planning with family , Wooden cottage will be a best option.

I stayed at the Rain Country Resorts for 2 nights earlier this year. The room was quite nice and as clean as could be expected. However, the 'open' bathroom left a lot to be desired in terms of cleanliness. The open area had been used by previous occupants more as a waste disposal area.

The food, as mentioned in earlier reviews, is strictly ok. There is no option for cold beverages as tehre is no ice at the resort, so we had to settle for room temp soft drinks.

The location is very secluded and the drive to the reosrt after it has rained is difficult. Smaller cars will have an issue going back to the main road after it has rained. And it always rains here!

The rains bring me to the issue of leeches. The place is infested with them. And while this is only to be expected ina place like Wayanad, other resorts where guests have a leech problem do take some steps to help out - providing the appropriate footwear is something s few of the other resorts do. However, folks here take is as part of a day's work so nothing is done to even warn first time guests about this. There was a family that was visiting at the same time as us, and the number of bites each of them had suffered on the first day at the resrt was scary.

That said, the staff at the resort is extremely polite and tries to help out in whatever way they can.

You should stay here if you want a quiet, peaceful stay far away from the bustle of the town below. If you want to do some sightseeing and be a bit more active then you should find some place closer to Vythiri town.

Room Tip: Rooms further away from the common area are quieter and better

Dear Mr.Chatur,
Let me at the outset thank you for choosing Rain Country Resort during your recent visit to Wayanad and for posting your feedback on Trip Advisor. . I understood that you had a leeche bite and caused you discomfort and extremely for the same .As you mentioned that leeches are expected in wayanad and the only option to be avoid them is to carry some salt . As per my knowledge there is no specific footwear to avoid leeches , All you can do is wear slipper instead of shoes so that you can spot them immediately and apply salt on them .As you know leeches are not dangerous and that is a part of nature .
Thanks & Regards-
