It was a perfect weekend getaway.
We visited Gateway Ramgarh Lodge in mid March 2012 on a weekend. It took us close to 4 hours to reach there from Gurgaon. The manager of the hotel guided us with the best route to reach the hotel. The hotel is located at an amazingly beautiful site with greenery all around. The rooms were very beautiful and give you an experience of lifestyle of Maharajas.
The landscape around the hotel is eye catching and we enjoyed exploring the nearby countryside on bicycle. The hotel is just the right place for taking a break of from daily life to enjoy the cool breeze, silence and serenity of nature. The service & food was also excellent. Hotel staff was also very courteous and supportive.
Hotel has other activities like swimming pool, TT, billiards & carom. What I enjoyed the most was reading a book on a hammock in the garden with cool breeze flowing & chirping of birds.
In all my family had an amazing time and I recommend this place for a relaxing getaway. Look forward to visit the place again.

We visited Gateway Ramgarh Lodge in mid May 2012 on a weekend. We took around 5 hours and 30 minutes to reach there from New Delhi. I received a call from the Manager of the lodge when i was on the way to hotel. He guided me the best route to reach the lodge. The lodge location is good for people who wish to stay away from crowded places. The rooms are spacious with nice interiors. The hotel offers plenty of activities for every age group such as tennis, table tennis, cricket, swimming pool, carrom, pool table and library. The sit outs in the garden are awesome. I appreciate the service of the hotel staff. In all a nice weekend getaway.

Room Tip: facilities in all rooms are almost same, only difference is room size

We were blown away by this hotel, a real piece of Indian heritage avaiable for you to enjoy all its luxuries. The staff were fantastic, the room (room 101) was a suite, and superb. We were asked every night what we wished to eat the following day, waited on hand and foot by the loveliest of staff. We enjoyed early morning breakfasts overlooking the (now dry) lake, taming squirells and monkeys and traditional indian uisine in the evenings. The internal decor was divine and the setting amazing. Plenty of birds and wildlife and around 40 mins from Jaipur. We loved our stay, certainly the best in of the hotels we stayed in in India.

Room Tip: Room 101 is downstairs and is alos a suite with a pool view. Catch the monkeys round the pool forst...

We stayed at this property for two nights during a long weekend. The property itself is about 40 minutes’ drive away from Jaipur; you need to take a nondescript left turn just before the NH8 bends right towards Amer fort on your way to Jaipur. The signposting is sparse and you should call ahead for directions once you are nearing Jaipur. The drive off the national highway is through a few small villages all the way to Ramgarh, the roads are fine but a bit busy with local traffic.

Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge is the erstwhile hunting lodge of the Jaipur kings and is a sort of a small manor house overlooking what once was a lake. The first thing you will notice is the absence of the lake itself: it was deep enough for the rowing events to be conducted during the Asian Games of 1982 but over the last six-odd years it has dried up due to human activity around its feeder streams. What you see now is a large tract of scrubland where cattle from the local villages and some deer from the woods nearby graze together. There are other attractions like the old pump house and barrage, besides a really small pond around which you will spot a few leftover crocodiles sun-bathing.

The property is maintained quite well as a Taj Gateway property: the pool is nice and clean, and the lawns are well kept. There isn’t as much of a monkey menace as in other places and we did have our tea alfresco with a few attendant mynahs and tree pies. Do consider the two larger heritage rooms; in addition to space these have a terrace that’s nice sitting out. The bath in our ensuite was quite dramatic with mirror work all around.

Service is nice, though of the old-fashioned variety you find in many smaller properties in Rajasthan than the uniformed young staff in the larger Taj properties: in fact it turned out you don’t earn loyalty points for staying here (and in few other Gateway properties). Food was good, the staff look after your needs with fresh pooris and rotis at hand.

There isn’t much to do here other than indoor activities and the pool, and indeed most visitors were families from Jaipur who came here for a day or so. The place does keep itself busy with a bunch of international travellers on the Jaipur-Agra circuit who use this property as a quieter (and cheaper) base than Jaipur. And Jagat and his wife are nice hosts: the feel of the place is more personal than even the usual Taj experience. The property itself is a great choice, though a lot is taken away from the overall experience due to absence of the lake.

Room Tip: Do consider the two larger heritage rooms; in addition to space these have a terrace that’s nice sit...

The Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge is a real treat if you ever wish to recharge yourself after slogging hard in cities. An amazing experience in regal luxurious solitude with grand rooms that are fit for Kings. The experienve of sleeping in these royal rooms is exhilarating.

a nice and homely touch in the food with ever smiling attendants and owner Jagat Singh always concerned about your comforts.

They have a large lawn and play area. You can even try cricket in the nets. Bonfire in the nights is so soothing.

The only pity is that the Ramgarh lake has vanished altogether otherwise we all would have been paying a bomb to use this royal property

Room Tip: Take the royal suites and nothing else

It was the first family holiday where me, my wife and our 3 year old had something of interest. To top it all, the real warm Indian hospitality. The drive from Delhi was very pleasant, the weather was perfect. We started early to beat the traffic from Delhi - Manesar and did halt 4 times (mostly for the baby) before reaching the Lodge. Google maps was a great tool and we did experiment with a "village road" by turning left from the Delhi - Jaipur Highway after crossing Jaipur Dental College (on the right). The property itself grows on you. The first thing you experience is the silence - no city noises at all. The next - sweet sound of nature. To top it all, the absolutely lovely pool that is overlooked by the hills. It is unfortunate that the lake has dried up but when you take your lunch in the lawns, you get a very strong sense of how it would have been....there are swings for the kids, swimming pool and some other outdoor sport activities, apart form Chess, Billiards and carrom. The hotel lobby and the corridors resemble the sets of old hindi movies with the 'Shikar' trophies present all across. My 3 year old learnt more animal names in these 2 days than she had in 3 years. The rooms are very spacious and have all possible amenities. The food is nothing special but is very healthy. What overwhelms you is the warmth of the staff. My wife did enjoy the visits to the spa (Yes! they do have one right in the middle of nowhere) so i guess that may be an attraction as well. The crocodile sighting and camel rides are cool things. You should try out the bicycle trips around the property as well. We were told that it would be much better during monsoons...and we are already planning a weekend there...

Room Tip: All the rooms are very spacious. If you are looking for something special - try the heritage suites.
