Found this place by accident-I live in Perth and decided to drive my creaking mk2 Jag to the Le mans classic in July. we needed somewhere not too far from the chunnel ,(11.5 miles) , but did not want to park the old girl outside a Travelodge and watch the local neds try to remove the bonnet mascot....
We turned up at around 6.30 on a tuesday evening-the place was busy. We went into the bar, and found mine host in good humour, check in was painless, we had two rooms near the front. The rooms are clean and tidy-mine had a large oval bath and blue mood lighting. A good touch was the halsteads contract welded flooring in the bathroom-the stuff they use in operating theatres and battleships. no need to worry about earwigs or dirty grout here-even had a slight retro pine disinfectant smell...
Attention to detail good in room-usb charging point , socket and coffee machine next to bed!

After a quick bath, down to bar. A good varied menu, mostly pub fare, but something for everyone . we tried the steak and ale pie-very good. Guinness was on form, and there is a healthy gin selection that we did try........

Service was good-but as it is next to the cricket pitch it can be a bit busy at times, but worth the wait. The staff are helpful and Bona.

We were asked at what time we would like breakfast, duly appeared at the allotted time. The breakfast is cooked to order-non of the steamy bain marie game here. We ordered the big breakfast, well worth it-it fully sated my inner labrador. Fresh bacon, egg and sausage and plenty of tea, a real treat.

I can fully recommend this hotel either for a stay or a meal, but it is a first class jumping off point for the chunnel.

well done.

Popped in today after watching the cricket on the green. All ok apart from the bar staff very surly need to put a smile on their faces. One chap came in with his daughter after a kids party waited to be served for 10 minutes (it wasn’t busy) and left said let’s try somewhere else. Shame....

We have had 3 really good meals in the Flying Horse since it has been taken over by the new owners. The service is good and the choice of wines to our taste.
Each visit we have tried different things on the menu including blackened salmon, homemade steak pie and ribs. The portion sizes are good, generous without being overwhelming. I asked for a bigger salad helping and less chips and this was dealt with efficiently with no issue. The chairs in the dining room are comfortable so make a long evening very pleasant. Can't fault it.

Stayed here because allow camper vans to stay overnight if you eat there. Paddock for van was lovely. Meal was great value. Good choice and we really over shot not realising the portion size to come. This did not affect the quality, we enjoyed everything we had. Lovely friendly staff. Set in a very picturesque setting. Good range of drinks especially gins.

Lovely pub! The lady who served us was so nice and helpful as were the locals! Food yummy and good sizes.

Easy and good parking, and nice to sit outside and over look the cricket pitch.
Slight shame of the highway maintenance van parked up blocking some of our view but never mind... out of their control.
So nice to go somewhere different - will be going again.
